If you don't think RGIII is at fault for this game, then by all means, let me tell you about some beach front property I have to sell you in Tennessee...
I'd say the defense was more at fault here. The offense did put up 26 points, even with Robert struggling with holding the ball too long at times. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
I feel like rg3 puts us in a better position to win. It was nice seeing Alfmo get open room to run, something that wasn't happening when rg3 was out. But mentally rg3 worries me. Game's on the line and you throw the ball in the dirt with a dead duck noodle throw when your WR has a shot at it.
Rg3 has all the physical gifts and is completely capable of still being a complete QB but dude crumbled when it counted. Its his first game back in weeks so he gets a pass this week, also there were much more glaring issues on the defensive side of the ball, as this game shouldn't have gone into crunch time anyway.
Exactly how I feel right now, offense runs better with him in game, but that 4th down throw was a total brainfart. Have to hope its rust, and the more he plays the more comfortable he feels. The offensive line struggles today didn't help things. I think its better to live or die with him, that way if he is a bust. You can't keep trying to make it work, the rest of the QBs are just backups. We need to know what we have. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Not sure how rust contributes to shitting the bed in crunch time though. I think by the end of the year there will be great doubt about griffs future here. Great doubt.
I think part of the problem lies in the fact that with top brass and egos and all, no one would want to admit that they bought a pig in a poke with RG3. There are things he brings to the table that are impossible to ignore - the arm strength, natural athleticism, etc... But other issues that are concerning like the diva mentality, rumors of alienating himself from the team. I think the rest of this season will really / hopefully put any doubts to rest on whether or not Griffin is THE GUY. |

There were 2-3 instances where he DEFINITELY should've fair caught the ball instead of getting blown up after the catch. I know they're trying to preserve DJax because he's our golden ticket, but man, what I wouldn't give to see him return at least 1 or 2 punts a game. |

I have been calling for Haslett to be fired for what seems like years... The defense and play calling was beyond horrible... Regardless, RGIII had an opportunity to win the game, and he threw one of the worst passes I have seen in a long time... He is not the answer to this team, and he is no where even fucking close to the value of 3 first round picks... We traded to finally have an answer to the QB position for the next 15 years, and he is and never will be that... |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Or even Moss or punt returns. Wtf is the point of activating him and having him suit up if he's never going to see the field? Why aren't we making changes where changes could be made?
I feel like we're just slamming square pegs into round holes. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Tough loss, kinda what I expected. D gave up too many plays to a rookie QB, they struggled to get get off the field on 3rd downs. Going on the road after a big MNF win is a tough task.
Wish we would have stuck with the run more. Morris was gashing them good at times. Seems like we always get away from what's working. Griffin played well enough, but didn't make enough plays, mainly the last one. But tossing the loss in his lap is ridiculous. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Today's game boiled down to Norv Turner out-coaching Haslett. Skins nearly had a shutout in the first half, then Turner made adjustments to which Haslett couldn't respond. Physically, the defense played well. Best tackling I've seen all year. I'm hesitant to criticize RG as Minnesota has a top tier defensive line and out pass protection is awful; plus it was Griff's first game back.
|
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Same old Skins. I think the blueprint is out of Grifffin. Blitz him up the middle and he just panics. He made a lot of plays and he sure helps out the running game, but he still has such a long way to go as a passer. But it's his first game back. But the difference in the game was that int before the half. Worst pass ever. Also Teddy B looks pretty damn legit.
Haz, man WTF is up with all the blown coverages? Inexcusable. And Clark just has no athletism at all. Neither does Merriweather. Get Thomas in there the rest of the way. Sucks to lose but this is pretty much what I was expecting. Close game and could have gone either way. |

I feel like Haz didn't make any adjustments. Sometimes the defensive schemes are so bad I wonder if he's watching pre-game video to study what kind of schemes he needs to be calling against certain teams or if he just runs the same set every game and adjusts from there. Like, you're against Patterson and Jennings, they're no scrubs, they're fast guys! And for some reason, you're calling zone defenses so they can run right by the CBs? All these soft ass zones were ridiculous and leaving dudes wide open all over the field. The secondary looked bad and confused, but the schemes Haz were calling weren't doing them any favors. |

D has to do their part, they did not It's on them, and teams. No return game not Roberts problem
Yes this game was on haslett. No doubt. Dude has been a loser his whole life. How he stays employed is one huge mystery. Especially through a coaching change the year after he breaks records for defensive ineptitude. That being said, we gave up alot for Griff. The hope was he would be a top five qb. I have not seen that minus one 5 week run his rookie year. He has been hurt. I get it. He is in a new offense i get that. Those things have nothing to do with him continually holding the ball for too long. Where is your internal clock? Those things have nothing to do with a horrendous int before the half. You CANNOT make that throw. Take the ten point lead into the half. Those things have nothing to do with throwing the ball in the dirt on a 6 yard pass play and the SEASON on the line? There has to be accountability for those things. So like i said let him play the rest of the season. If those brain farts dont stop than I am done making excuses. Than it will be time to move on. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Goin into game I thought Bridgewater needed to have a good game to beat us. Was totally wrong. He played like crap mostly with missed throws, but still got the win. Skins were outcoached today in every phase of the game. Haslett called a soft game without any adjustments and Gruden was too pass oriented even with Morris balling.
What's most frustrating is watching this team outcoached season after season. Seems like the quality prospects just won't look at our team anymore. Maybe because of Snyder's past behavior? Or maybe because the FO sucks? Hard to say looking on the outside in. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
I make no excuse for anybody. Robert will have the rest of the season to see who he is providing he is healthy. It's a reasonable question that if the D continues, do we really want Haz to lead it? A possible offseason question
But the O scored 26 D MUST get a stop when necessary...... |

He actually climbs the pocket when he's pressured, has really nice footwork and keeps his eyes downfield. These are things Griffin is still struggling with. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Can't understand why it's so hard for Haslett to put together good back-to-back games. You just made Romo look average on Monday night then you let Teddy B look like Brady back there, with no pressure (what did they see on film that made Haz think blitzing wasn't an option?) at all in the second half. 26 points should be enough to win. And I can't figure out for the life of me how they didn't anticipate Asiata running the ball on the goal line. That's what he does. That's his thing. I know you have to anticipate Teddy B running the ball in those situations but you sure as hell can't ignore the bulldozing running ball that only appears in goal line situations.

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
It was bad enough having to work all weekend, brought the radio in to listen the game. Good grief the defense was bad, and Haz deserves most of the blame for the lose. Mystifying how the Skins can beat Dallas, yet, crash and burn against the Vikings again.

I have always felt that people come here to DC to get paid - not because they seriously believe they have a chance of winning / developing players, etc.. It's even tougher to be a coach here because you won't have total control of the offense and moves like today prove that the owner is going to tell you who you should play, even if you, as HC, feel otherwise... |

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Gruden seems like a standup guy and I really do like him -
But say the reports were true - do you really expect him to say, "yep, RG3 is acting like a diva, has no leadership abilities, and our locker room is divided". When it comes to the NFL anymore, i don't really believe any reports about anything... |

RG3 makes the O line look bad by holding the ball for 5 seconds. Bowen was horrible, I have never seen a 300 lb DL knocked 10 yards out of his gap.... twice |

Agree 100% with number 1. Jesus. How were receivers repeatedly getting down field without a defender within 15 yards? Is that Raheem job? There were blown protections, but our qb seemed to be staring down blitzes until contact. There were several plays where he could have ran for 6 or 7 yards and slid. It's almost like he decides he going to throw then sticks to it no matter how much open field is in front of him. 4 yards and a slide is a win. |

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
If Todd Bowles was running the Redskins D he would be kicking ass. The job he is doing in Arizona is simply amazing, he's missing like 3 or 4 starting DL, LB's. I think Brian Baker would a great replacement for Hazlett.

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Didn't see the game, heard obviously the o line still sucks, Robert still holds the ball too long and is too proud to run in big moments, looked shaky, the defense sucked and we played a much different scheme than against Dallas. Smfh ... Winnable game, into before half was garbage... Well, the light is almost all the way out... We'd need a repeat of 2012 .. 7 game win streak to stay alive... We need improvement in the trenches and a better d coordinator to scheme around wat we lack... And then I could have hope, but yea, we're flickering in the wind folks.

Well, we know in the off season that defense will be a priority, as will the o line. I really want to see Spencer Long in a game this season though, and man oh man what that 13 million dollars they paid Orakpo could have done. I would like to think it would be spread across TJ Ward, a RT, and a CB not named Tracy Porter.

Anybody. Rex Ryan, Mila Kunis, Brick Tamland... heck, give me a shot. Haslett's defense occasionally flashes good things... even brilliance sometimes... but I don't believe it'll ever be consistently competitive under him. Yeah, some safety help would be nice, but a stud safety won't help with the game plans, the play calling, or the in-game "adjustments." Although I worry that Haslett's Tampa connections to both Gruden and Allen will help keep him around. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Egh. Double Egh. Griff looked like there was no rust in the first quarter and regressed throughout the game with flashes of competence after the first. My question since the "he needs time to develope" shtick came about is this: how much time is too much? We are on year 3 now. Year one looked good...but so far 2 and 3 aren't going so well.....
Defense looked good for the first quarter and a half...then seemed to abandon the blitz?? I saw the dbs in zone after amerson and Breeland showed early they could man up. Wtf. Looked like prevent d in the second half. Egh!!!!!! Our entire team looks lost for the most part. It's a fucking shame. |
