So, we sign Knighton, Cox, and Browner today and call it a successful free agency. Move Hall to Safety and draft another safety to go with him (in round 3 or later). Draft Scherff (Iowa) Rd. 1 and Erving (FSU) Rd. 2.

Clayton is just being brainless. He claims that the Bradford trade takes away all the Eagles trade-up ammo. But:

1) Bradford is part of the ammo!
2) The #2 pick the Eagles surrender is for NEXT year.
3) The Eagles still have the #20 pick and other picks besides.
4) The Eagles could also add players in a trade with, say, the Titans, like the Jets did to move up and take Sanchize.

Apparently we're hosting Knighton, Cox, and Browner. I think Knighton and Cox would be great picks ups. A line with Hatcher, Knighton, and Paea would be ridiculous.

If I were the Titans, I'd take Bradford over Mariota and not think twice, especially since they'll get more than Bradford in the trade. But that's just me.

If we sign those 3, I might move Hall to unemployed, and I wouldn't take Schreff at 5, Erving I like.

I doubt we sign both Cox and Browner, with the need we have for a Free Safety. Unless one of them decides to play safety.

I would love Gilchrist. He played free safety in college, but the Chargers moved him to strong safety because of Weddle. Maybe we could play him at free?

lol theres no safety in FA worth it. goldson wasnt a fit either hes strictly run support. man we used to like corners and coverage safties on these forums what happened? meriweather, clark, landry, these dudes dont get picks man. i want a ballhawk. im not asking for sean taylor more like haha clinton dix. if none is out there in FA.. DRAFT ONE.

there's exactly one 1st round graded safety, and then basically nothing until the 3rd... terrible draft if you want a day 1 starter or someone with a good chance to be starting after a year.

there was only one good FA safety this year too. guess that's why the FO is going heavy on DL. maybe we'll get a good safety next year.

I think its reasonable to say the Skins really havent invested alot of money in the safety position...its not like we have tossed money around recklessly and we also spent draft picks there too that we havent been able to develop.

If there is a player who can stablize one of the 2 saftey positions for the next 3-5 years, why not?

Also, you mention OL...you talk about frivolous spending in free agency, we've seen several clear examples by 4-5 teams in the last week. I mean some really questionable contracts to unproven, average players.

An anonymous head coach tells NBC Washington that "teams are afraid to sign" free agent DT Terrance Knighton because he's out of shape.

Knighton is meeting with the Redskins on Thursday, but has already been passed on by former coaches in Oakland and Chicago. He was expected to be a hot commodity as a run stuffer, and was at one point outrageously seeking $8 million per year. It's not exactly surprising that someone nicknamed "Pot Roast" is out of shape, but Knighton could cost himself all sorts of money by not hitting the open market in the shape he's expected to be in.
