It looked like Kirk rushed a throw because he felt pressure. This is one flaw in Cousins's game that we saw more last season, and a little bit this season. He feels pressure and looks to avoid the sack so he will hurry a throw before a target is out of their break, which leaves the ball in no man's land or in this case, in the defender's hands unfortunately.
This is every QB's flaw and that's how you win in the NFL.
On defense, you pressure the QB to force them to make mistakes.
On Offense, you run the ball so it neutralizes the pressure.

We need to give the ATL D a lot of credit for dialing up that blitz and executing on the play.

An out to the sideline is a risky throw.
Grant probably does have the best hands on the team but I think teams are starting to sit on his routes since he isn't a threat to run by them.

KC made a great read picking up the blitz but he made a bad decision throwing to Grant. He just isn't going to win his matchup on the outside.

Not having a legit TE hurt us.
This is where guys like Romo and Brady throw to their safety blanket TE's.

Yeah throwing it away and setting up third down instead of forcing a risky throw has got to be a mind set. There is a time and a place for risky throws but that was not the right time.

We should have won that game particularly since we got an almost impossible tying field goal in the final few seconds. There's no doubt that Gruden has done a good job preparing this team although I wouldn't have tried the first long-distance field goal putting Atlanta in good field position, and Cousins, despite the interception at the end, is doing a credible job. Instead of always thinking we'll lose every week, I have hope that we can win.

Do you have anything of merit to offer that would refute Gruden being thought of as a poor head coach, and play caller, other than a hyperbolically sarcastic, ad hominem assault on a person holding that perspective? Then again you can boil the multitude of human perspectives, with all of their variability, down to, everyone operates in black and white. Win game me like. Lose game me hate. Does this not seem sillier than the original posters assertion?

I was being sarcastic to the post about how bad Gruden sucks ..truth is compared to what we have had in past (Other than Gibbs) Gruden is not bad..it just gets to me after every loss how fans turn on somebody.. got to blame somebody..I for one never thought we would beat the Falcons and was surprised we played them that well..the skins at best are a 8-8 team..but that is not bad !

The players are playing hard for Gruden. We are a way better team than 2-3 and no matter what happens we will be at worst one game out going into week 6. Oh and we are still waiting for our biggest playmaker on offense to come back. We are probably 4-1,3-2 at worst with d-jax. We are going to win the division this year.

If there is one big concern right now to me it's that the running game doesn't seem to be working well at all. Did Lavao going down make that huge an impact? The pass blocking still seems sharp, but on run plays there is just nothing opening up. The few decent runs seem to happen merely due to the speed and quickness of Matt Jones.

Defenses are stacking the box hoping to stop the run and put Kirk behind the 8-ball. I'm hoping the return of Reed and Jackson will stop some of this since those two will make a defense suffer when Kirk audibles to a pass play into vacant spots.

Because punctuation negates logic. PM me, and we can have a real discussion, man to man, about coaching tendencies, situational play calling, and a fundamental understanding of point differential vs game clock. You right I got my opinion and you got your opinion! Y'all always wa t the defense to make this and do this. I see games where guys are open and leadership lacks! Atl might get better, but this team is not part of the elite b/c they are undefeated. Kirk plays the position better than Griff I'll give you that. If any qb that been playing in drop play since the 8th grade, he should be better than griff. The question is why is he not better or why is he making footwork mistakes? As for Gruden, what he need a pro bowler at every position? One or two players, what about a coach dial up one or two plays to make the difference! A Zorn went 8-8 with a worse offense weapons! Stop thinking this guy is the answer, he not. Roster, Atl don't have many playmakers on def or offense. Ryan, Jones, Freeman who else?

No one thinks he's Bill Walsh. Nor do reasonable people believe that the Redskins can simply pluck a Hall of Fame calibre coach out of nowhere and install him into the office.

I'm certainly not suggesting that Gruden is above criticism, but geez, his team just went on the road against an undefeated team and lost a nail biter in overtime. There's not a Redskins team in the last 23 years that would have won yesterday's game. And your takeaway from that is that the coach sucks? Maybe a bit more objectivity in your assessment of things might be needed.

He isnt the only one chastising Gruden on a weekly basis. Everyone wants to say SM is getting the rite kind of players in here, and he is. However alot of these guys were here before Gruden and had nothing to do with SM, and they are collectively playing hard for the man. I think he is not getting credit for the mind set and attitude this team is playing with. You keep that up and the wins will come.

Agreed. It's funny; this is an organization that in a little more than the past decade has done irreparable damage to the reputations of two hall of fame coaches and one borderline hall of fame coach, yet there continues to be this perception that the organization's failure to win is the sole responsibility of whoever is the head coach. I have faith that SM and Gruden can get us on the right track. And if Gruden can't? Well, every time we run a head coach out of town, the job is that much less desirable to the stronger candidates out there.

I would like to note - Gruden has managed to keep the locker room through a bad last year and a goofy offseason. I think this is the strongest TEAM coached by anyone not named Gibbs or Marty. He is holding players accountable, and coaches as well. That is more important to me as we rebuild, not wins just yet.

But as I said Hog - only a handful of these players are SM guys. Gruden has alot of these same players that were here in our past regime playing harder. So again the corner has been turned under both of their watches and i would add that the HC is the one getting these guys in the rite mindset every day.

SM has said that the roster, in terms of who plays, should be the coach's call. In that sense he has given Gruden the ability to hold players accountable, and I think he didn't have that last year, hamstrung with the QB debacle. At this point, everyone should know that Gruden has SM's backing, and likewise Gruden knows it's his neck on the line. I think we are seeing positive steps with this staff, but honestly, we still have 11 games and it could go south if we lose the next 2.

I don't know that the Jets is a must win game, but a loss this week, and the Tampa Bay game takes on a look like the 2014 season. We were 2-3 this time last year, having just lost to Seattle. We had the Cardinals and the Titans and lost to both. That's when the season was lost.

Let's see these next two weeks. imo, We need to be at least 1-1, and maybe 2-0 in order to really know we are moving in the right direction.

I'm REALLY concerned the Jets will run against us like the Falcons did. Jets have a better offensive line. Good news is that their QB situation is a mess and they don't have the firepower at the WR position that Atlanta did. Hopefully this means we can stuff the box and prevent Ivory from getting going.

good overlooked point. I think he has handled alot of things much better this year...last year he said some really dumb things and the result was the locker room wasnt a great place. He's learned in that aspect.

X and Os, he's decent. game plan is all right. I think McC def advised Gruden on a vision of what the team should look like and how to win. Gruden still has strides to make. Like Keim said, you can be a running team and not run it everytime on first down.

Im for keeping Gruden around if we continue to see progress. I think Gruden and McC need to really come up with a QB plan...its obvious Cousins isnt the guy.

Fitzpatrick is decent enough and they have a couple of big physical WRs in Decker and Marshall. It's going to be a battle if we can't shut down Ivory.
