Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I'm betting we'll go D heavy in this draft, for better or worse I can see us moving away from Scot's BPA philosophy and going more for need.

This. I really don't see any need at all to draft a RB higher than Rd 5 or so.. too many other needs. |

Who edits the site? Time to replace Jackson with Crowder on the banner.

I hope you are right. I dont want any "oohh shiny" offensive guys. I want some guys that will plug the toilet. |

I dont want any "oohh shiny" offensive guys. I want some guys that will plug the toilet.
Even if the oohh shiny guy rates as the better prospect? The draft is a crapshoot even with all the work put in it. Better to pick the guy you think has a higher chance of succeeding in the NFL, regardless of position. If you have two prospects you rated equally and one is a need, then yeah go for it. I'm not going to get into it because there's only so many ways to say I think this franchise is fucked, but drafting for need over BPA? Add another reason to the list. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I would definitely not complain if we use a first rounder on a stud RB like Cook. Fat Rob is a hard charger and should improve but the RBs that really concern defenses are the ones with the breakaway speed and hard charging combo. It would make our play action game more lethal, and without Jackson we could use someone who safeties have to watch closely. That half step of hesitation would do Crowder and Doctson wonders.
We really need D line and that's my dream scenario but I will not complain one bit if we end up with a stud runner. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
The only RB's I would even consider at #17 are Fournette, Cook or McCaffrey.
But if that's the pick, they better come back with ILB in the 2nd & DT in the 3rd. I'd be pretty happy with James Conner (RB, Pitt) or even Kareem Hunt (RB Toledo) in a later round. |

I would agree here. Really hope they pass on a back until the later rounds. I'm looking to see what they have in Mason. Kid always looks good whenever he's got an opportunity. |

Plus Reed underneath and Crowder, that could be lethal |

This would give us immediate help and a little more flexibility in the draft if he were to sign. Zach Brown to visit Washington Redskins on Monday - NFL.com |

Brown would be a nice addition, if the price is right- 149 tackles- 4 sacks- in 2016 |
Brown would be a nice addition, if the price is right- 149 tackles- 4 sacks- in 2016
[edit] Didn't know much about him and was skeptical about a breakout year following four initial mediocre ones and concerns that he doesn't call defenses like Compton... But given the needs, if the price is right, would do this in a heartbeat. Lot of good reviews about him and youtube clips and youtube film reviews and hard to argue with signing a 27 year old ProBrowl player.. You'd think with Swearinger and Brown our middle of field would look a lot better, and hope to improve on the DLine with the draft.. |

Exactly. I lost track of him & figured he signed somewhere by now. This would be a solid addition. |

I've been wanting him here since day one of free agency, had lost hope a little bit... The fact that he's visiting us so late in FA may mean nobody matched his price and he'll have to lower it ?
This player is a no brainer for us. We need better run defense; we need to get better up the middle of our defense; we need speed on defense. Zach Brown is a tackling machine at ILB who runs a 4.5 forty. He is a perfect fit for our needs. I don't mind if we overpay him within reason but I want him on a multi-year contract. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Get it done Bruce.
Build up the middle, keep executing the plan. Zach Brown is that volume tackler we need. And for folks talking about Compton, sure he is an ok player, but really what has he done but help lead an underperforming squad? You cant criticize C Baker on the way out but praise Compton. doesn't make sense |

Brown would offer the Redskins speed inside – he won a Maryland state title in the 100-meter dash while at Columbia’s Wilde Lake High School. That speed helped turn him into a second-round pick by Tennessee in 2012. But after a disappointing four seasons with the Titans, Brown recorded 149 tackles – second-most in the NFL – with Buffalo. He also recorded four sacks and two forced fumbles in earning his first Pro Bowl berth and second-team All-Pro honors. Brown was considered excellent in coverage, thanks to his ability to go sideline-to-sideline in a hurry. He was able to cover backs and tight ends. That would be a big help for the Redskins. It would also enable them to perhaps add more pass-rush ability from the inside. get this shit done now! |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
would be a big impactful signing for us ,plus gives us a chance to draft earlier more D-linemnen
Would you still consider Foster at 17 if we signed Brown?
Yes, both Mason Foster and Compton (1 year tender) are in last year of deals. ILB high in the draft makes sense. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
from what I've read, Brown is looking for a big contract. Not that the Redskins couldn't come up with a deal, but if they were able to sign him to a sizeable contract, how would that affect (if at all) Cousins' deal?

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I am even willing to overlook the fact that he went to rival Wilde Lake High to get behind this signing. (Go Centennial Eagles!)

river hill hawk up in hurr. (michael campanaro & kevin johnson, holla) i would have been an atholton raider, but river hill opened before i started high school. then, i would have been a reservoir gator but when reservoir opened they only enrolled freshmen and sophomores, and i was a senior. choose civility. |
