Our defense is overrated. Didn't matter what he called.
You can throw the ball at will against our back 7.
Called that a few days ago.. I'm sad that was the outcome but in today's offense friendly NFL.. if you don't have a good D scheme a quick passing O (majority of the league) will eat you alive. Sorry to say but we were a few years too late drafting young and have sweat ... unless they are unblockalble they are almost invisible. |
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
Did Jamin Davis play today? I don't recall seeing him even mentioned.
I respect him as a man, but we pulled an Al Davis move, drafting him in the 1st. |
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
I can't believe some of the comments here, we lost to a damn good team. Yeah our defense was disappointing, especially the DB's. Herbert gets rid of that ball quick giving our pass rush no chance. It's one game from 17 this season.
|
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
Little bit shocked, but not surprised. We all knew Herbert was a baller going in…
|
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
Herbert was getting it out quick. But when the game was on the line, when you need a stop, you get a rush and make him uncomfortable. No rush, no coverage on 3rd and 16. I watched the dude on Tampa Vita Vea put the Cowboys o-line on roller skates. We don't have anyone that can do that.

Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
If the refs hadn't had such a poor game it would have been even worse. The PI on Samuel's was ticky tack, the fumble out of the endzone was bogus. I know they missed some key ones too like face masks and holds, but ultimately we gained from their bad calls.

I'll have to go back and watch but I think we were in a zone. Chase Young also got mugged on that particular play. |
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
Oline in pass pro was a fucking embarrassment.
Turner got stale on play call. We ran too much on first down. |
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
Taylor gives us as good a chance to win as Fitz .. I’m not sure we would ever got the lead with Fitz .. now whether Taylor can stay healthy is the big question.. Fitz didn’t last a half ..the dysfunction of this team is the missed opportunity to get a young franchise Qb .. we continue to draft D … and that D I watched today is not good at all …

Sorry but they had to come all the way across country and play a 10am game. no more excuses. The refs tried to hand us the game and we still could not close. |

Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
It’s one game and we could bounce back Thursday but overall it’s a bad loss, they came across country and we were the team that looked flat. In fact other than 4,17,24 nobody else even looked like they had life. Very odd

That's what professionals are supposed to do. There are no excuses, the D didn't do their job, DB's were getting eaten alive, Keenan Allen, Mike Davis and Guyton made some great catches. |

I know there is a lot of pressure on the defense given the talent they have, but the offense just made some boneheaded mistakes that I think contributed more to the loss: - In the drive where Hopkins missed the 53-yard FG, B. Scherff had two penalties, including a hold that basically started the decline of that drive. - Gibson fumbling after WJ3's pick was unforgivable and back breaking. |
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
I hope they take their frustrations from today out on the Gnats. Is it possible to have a must win game in week 2? [emoji50]
Have to find a way to bounce back. And the D needs to come alive and set the tone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
If it wasn’t for the 2 Red zone takeaways that game would have been a blowout
|
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
i don't think that was what costs the game. it an inability to get off the field on 3rd down. you have a 3rd and 16 you get the fuck off the field if you are a good defense.
You shouldn't even have to be a good defense for that. Chargers didn't score a lot of points, but they lit our asses up in the passing game, basically all game. I literally had zero surprise when they converted thay easily. There are lots of ways to look tho, we lost because that's what we do. We're folders. The going gets tough, we lay down. We were 7-9 last year and we still look like that. |
Re: Chargers at WFT GameDay thread
It wasn't the rookies fault, there are 11 guys on defence. Not sure you can justify giving Payne a big contract next year, he just isn't effective enough on an every down basis

That is just totally inexcusable to let someone get a 3rd and 16 when the game is on the line. You are suppose to have a great line you pressure the QB and get off the field. Offense sucked too but I put more on the guys that get all the hype. They got abused on 3rd down. I didn't see J Allen or Payne do a damn thing all day. |

Those last 7 points happened because Gibson fumbled the f*cking ball in our own red zone. Offense needs to stop making boneheaded/backbreaking mistakes. |

I would trade Payne next year and pay Settle who I think should be starting. |

I would rather keep Settle and Ionnidis than pay Payne and let them walk
I will be more disappointed if our defense doesn't play up to expectations then the offense. I know the Chargers have an awesome QB, and strong skill positions. If Fitz is out for any legit time, I wouldn’t be opposed to them calling Cam Newton. Seriously

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
I don't trust Heinicke or Allen's ability to stay healthy. That was my hope for Fitz, since he's been pretty durable in the past, but here we are. Also, I hope reps with the #1 team help Heinecke, so he can throw the ball to other receivers, besides Dyami Brown, in contested downs. |

Why you wanna do some dumb shit like that? Implying the qb play is the thing holding this team back? Implying Heinicke doesn't deserve an opportunity to show what he has? This is dumb on multiple levels. |

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
+1 Even at best Fitzpatrick is a gap qb. And Heinicke is still an unknown. Unless Heinicke throws for 4k and 30+ td's this year I doubt he's our long-term starter too. |

This is dumb on multiple levels.
No because Taylor got hurt after 1 start last yr and Allen was also Injured, if TH goes down next week, then what? Bring Cam in as insurance and lets be honest he's prob better than Fitz |
