i'm very impressed with alexander too. He's done everything this team has ever asked him to do - and done it well - and now he may finally be rewarded for his hard work. if i'm not mistaken, this would be the first time he's been penciled in as a starter in his entire career. i'm not so sure that carter would stay as a backup though. there's no cap in 2010, but i think if the skins could save any considerable amount of "real" money by releasing him, i think they would.

He's got to be disappointed, though. He's went from having the best year of his career (thanks largely to Haynesworth) to being a backup in a defense that doesnt fit him well. I admire his class in keeping his mouth shut and not becoming a problem, but i also feel pretty bad for the guy.

I don't think Carter has a position in a 3-4. But he is our best pass rusher so I would expect to see him and Orakpo coming off the edges on 3rd downs.

Regarding Colt ... I just think he's one of those guys that just needs to play in the games. He's just not a practice type of player.

It would be interesting to see how many sacks did Carter get when AH was out of the line up. Not taking anything away from AH but I never see Carter being double teamed, before of after AH got here.

Man, I just watched some of the videos with the coaches on redskins.com and I am so sick of these reporters just asking these dumbass questions about Haynesworth. I would have liked to see some more questions asked about the other 79 guys in camp.

Sorry, I know it's a little off-topic but just had to vent a little.

I'm looking forward to seeing if the Bartel Brotherhood will beat out the Cult of Colt for the #3 qb job. I guess we will see.

And nice to hear about DT and FD looking sharp. Sounds like we are hearing a glass half full kinda deal, some good, some bad.

Also very impressed to hear about Zoe taking first team reps away from Carter. I can't believe he was playing defensive tackle when we first brought him in and now he's competing for the starting outside linebacker job.

Walk-through ends first two-a-day practice

The Washington Redskins completed their first day of two-a-day practices with a low-key, low-intensity walk-through.

Players rarely needed to do more than a jog lightly during the session as the offense and defense worked through shadow drills on separate fields. They came together only for some special teams work. The practice lasted about an hour.

After the practice, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth worked with defensive line coach Jacob Burney on a side field.

Guys like that are weird, because typically you have the practice superstars that can't do it under pressure, but occasionally you get that guy that shines under pressure. Unfortunately they usually do such in college with great mismatches in their favor.

This is John Clayton's observation on the Redskins defense. I hope this is right:

Sort of explains why Brennan has all those NCAA passing records. Hawaii had a very nice program, but would have finished no higher than 5th or 6th in the Big Ten, Big 12, and maybe even lower in the SEC. I mean look at what Georgia did to Colt in the Sugar Bowl.

We see it at all levels, high school teams that run over divisions and get killed in regionals, college teams that win conferences but do nothing in the bcs, etc
