Offensively, yes. But let's not forget the horrible effort by the D. Big plays burned us yet again.
True, but lets remember that the D did make some stops, and we turned around and did absolutely nothing. We threw one pass deep to Lloyd and after that it was dump off city.... |
Re: Redskins @ Eagles 11/12/06 game thread
Brunell looked awful today. Very dissapointing...
No D. No Kicker. No O. That's the season folks. |
Re: Redskins @ Eagles 11/12/06 game thread
The defense held the Eagles to 20 on the road. They gave up a few big plays--and one of the TDs was on a fluke fumble. I wouldn't say they were horrible. Mediocre maybe. However, our offense should be able to muster three touchdowns. Unless they are led by a QB that inspires not even a modicum of fear in the opposing defense.

Corrected that last line for you. |

don't forget to blame the coaches...47yd field goal attempt...you have to be kidding me, everyone deserves a slap in the face for this one

Re: Redskins @ Eagles 11/12/06 game thread
Randal El has a better arm than Brunell. I don't think Mark looks downfield for more than .0000000001 seconds before he dumps the ball out to Betts with a LB running full speed at him already.
PLEASE PLAY CAMPBELL JUST AS SOME SORT OF HOPE FOR NEXT SEASON! Any word on Portis' injury and how bad it is??? |

Re: Redskins @ Eagles 11/12/06 game thread
yeah the whole team sucks. just look forward to some rebuilding and some spoiler action.
|
Re: Redskins @ Eagles 11/12/06 game thread
Anyone see that play early in the game when Brunell threw the ball away because of a blitzing lineman, when he had someone running a cross route WIDE open? Brunnell is a completely different player than he used to be.
All older QBs just throw the ball into the stands anytime they feel pressure now...except for Favre |
Re: Redskins @ Eagles 11/12/06 game thread
The D had no TOs, no sacks, gave up two huge plays, gave up a nine minute drive at the end (it was over, but whatever). They were not good.
The offense, however, was worse. 3 points. And the way they looked, even when the iggles were trying hard to let us back in the game, no one on either sideline seemed like they believed it could happen. MB's back to back negative yard dumpoffs, combined with his INT for a TD says all you need to know about that. Portis broke his hand. My guess is he's done for the year, but we'll see. |

that may be true. but the QB position is something we can actually DO something about. and should have a lot earlier. |

All the missed tackles today made me think these guys need a little Pop Warner coaching for refreshment on how to make tackles. I'm amazed at the difference between last year's D and this year's. |

Truer words have never been spoken. The D has been consistently bad this year, and abysmal today. Brunell, while I agree his time is up, has at least had a flash of brilliance here and there. Can't we all just agree that the entire team, coaching staff and management included, suck balls? |

Yeah we gave up some big plays today, but the tackling was horrendous (sp). Even Taylor played shitty today.... |

Point taken. I still wouldn't expect any miracles even if Gibbs puts Campbell in next week. I'd fully expect it to get worse before it gets better. A QB change is not a silver bullet, quick fix to this teams problems. I'm not saying I know what is, but this organization is royally screwed from top to bottom. |

the skins played shitty, but the damn iggles ai'nt that good though.1 thing about finishing last in the divison,we get an easy schedule next year!

Re: Redskins @ Eagles 11/12/06 game thread
Has Campbell taken a single NFL snap yet? I'm amazed they're not trying to bring him up at all.
Todd Collins completely worries me after his preseason performance... |

Give props to Brunell!! remember last week? I said this time last week, before sunset today, this is what we'd be saying. Well, here it is. |
Re: Redskins @ Eagles 11/12/06 game thread
Brunell has played very poorly in most games, therefore he played poorly last week. Genuis logic.

I don't consider my logic to be genius and neither is yours if you thought Brunell played that well last week. I watched the same game you did, and the only reason for any consideration for Brunell was because with a stroke of luck we won the game, not because he did anything to help it. There were more than one ocasion in that game, had it not been for the ineptness of the Cowboys he would have been directly responsible for us loosing the game. |

Apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought Brunell played well last week. The overwhelming majority of people here thought he played well last week. I stick by my assertion that he played well (not like a Pro Bowler, but well) last week. Don't make the leap that just because I said he played well last week, I must believe he's a good QB or that he deserves praise this week. I've been ripping him all season long (save last week). |

Shoulda woulda coulda... I like most of your posts, but this idea that his passes were "almost" picked, and this and that...I don't agree with. There is plenty to complain about this week, so lets just stop being hypothetical about Dallas. Anyone that's defended Brunell (including me) have done so with good reason. He hasn't been the terrible awful QB that we all saw today. He's played inconsistent though, and obviously, since the season is over everyone is calling for his head. I understand, and at heart I want to see Campbell come in, and always have. This offense needs change, and we're all ready for it to happen. We very well may get lucky and finally see some Jason Campbell. |

he played well for HIM was my comment last week. if one of those near ints was an INT vs. Dallas, i still wouldn't be mad because it meant Brunell threw DOWNfield. and using the entire field is what it takes to win. today's pick was off a 5 yard dunk. Brunell reverting back to his ultra conservative usual, and if it wasn't a pick, he still wouldn't have won us the game. in the end, one good game doesn't make a season. |

Don't make the leap that just because I said he played well last week, I must believe he's a good QB or that he deserves praise this week. I've been ripping him all season long (save last week).
I understand where you're coming from but I'm not a flip/flop. For some time my mind has been made up about Brunell. He did throw a couple passes farther than six yds. last week, and he did throw a couple over the middle (which I didn't think he knew existed) and as a result of that some thought he played better, but in reality it was the same old Brunell, and I'm not going to flavor him because I really don't think he should be on the field PERIOD. So in essence, regardless of what he does, I'm constantly reminded to often of what he can't do. If you felt he played well, that's your perogative, I saw "through" the win and took into consideration all the ommitigating circumstances. I'm talking about a QB who has not lead his team to a touchdown against a division opponent on the road this year. I'm not going to flip/flop all over the place from one week to the next. I didn't like his play last week, the week before, and I certainly didn't like it today. There's nothing to make me think I'm going to like it next week either. I never though I would feel this way about Brunell because if you go back and look at my posts in 2004-05 when some here was saying all kind on negative things about Brunell, I continued to support him. However, I have watched him play enough now that I'm convinced his serviceable years have departed. |
Re: Redskins @ Eagles 11/12/06 game thread
Longtimefan,
You repeatedly say that you are not going to "flip/flop" on Brunell. You are going to say he's bad no matter how he plays. That's not consistency, that's just being stubborn. I agree that Brunell GENERALLY sucks and deserves to be benched. But it's ridiculous to say that you can't praise Brunell without being a "flip-flopper." Bad players can have good days (e.g. Brunell's performance last week) and great players can have bad days. If you don't recognize that there's no point in discussing this any further. |
