Damn, I was following the game on line. Portis is having a career year, huh?
Why was this game so close? The stats don't connect for me?
Very untimely turnover and failure to finish off drives in the first half. Other than that we played lights-out. Oh, and if the season were over today Portis would be league MVP without a doubt in my mind |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
Portis 175 yards!
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
everyone here should know there's no chance we blow out the lions next week.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
well we are sitting ALONE in second in the NFC BEAST
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
People were blaming Portis for fumbling.
That was his first fumble, and he's been leading the league in carries. His fumble was unfortunate, but Portis is still a god who carried the offense on his back today. |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
Portis and Fletcher are just Phenominal this year!
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
I will only keep the victory in mind. Time to sleep for me folks! Thanks all
HAIL TO THE REDSKINS |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
I predicted 174 from Portis. Who fumbled?

Carlos Rogers ain't too shabby either |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
Portis fumbled..
If we win like we should next week and giants lose against the steelers we will be tied for first.. |

Portis |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
I don't know if we're not quite as good as we think or our young team just plays up and down to competition. I think we'll get it together and for now I'll take the win.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
Again, The difference between our stats and our opponents is amazing, but we have yet to have the points match the stats! maybe next week.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
This was a very ugly win. Very ugly. But I'd much rather have an ugly win rather than a pretty loss.

Whoever wins this Jets/Raiders game will have an ugly win....looks like it'll be the Raiders! |

It may be a tie! Hey, 7 games in and JC still has no INT's way to go! |

Hey, 7 games in and JC still has no INT's way to go!
Janikowski sealed it w/ a 57 yard field goal. He could've hit it from 70 out! |

Yeah CBS just showed the replay of it before they went off. He could have made it from at least 65, that's for sure. Wish we had a guy like him!!!!!!!! |

Why was this game so close? The stats don't connect for me?
I agree, We put up a lot of rushing yards up and did a good job passing, just no scoring. Another dominant performance without the points to show for it. We really need to start creating turnovers. |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
We really need to finish drives. No reason we shouldn't have won by at least two touchdowns today. Still, a win's a win!
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
ugly wins become beautiful wins at the end of the season.

True, a W is indeed a W, but we do need to be able to get the job done. Yardage is nice, but it is all about the points. Detroit came back today and made it a game with the Texans, but of course they gave themselves too little time to really get a W. Cleveland is a better team than Detroit now with Kitna and Williams gone, but if we get complacent, we can lose next week as far fetched as that sounds. It is great that JC doesn't have any INT's but he is very dry on TD passes as of late. |

One thing I would definitely like to see is us being able to put up 20+ points, consistently, week in and week out. It's funny, since when we play teams like Philly and Dallas, we make it look EASY! |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
Don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but if we continue to play down to the level of teams like that, we will not be going far. We were lucky today that Cleveland sucks.
Anderson and Braylon Edwards were terrible. |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
NO question! 14pts will NOT get it done against the Steelers in two weeks
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
Lets hear it for Plackemeier! He's #1!!! Seriously, he did a pretty good job huh?

I agree, that is the only way we will become a strong contender for the whole enchilada. This was the tune up part of our schedule where we were looking to get 30pts a game, but we are simply not scoring or playing sloppy as with the Rams. No way we beat the Gmen playing like this, or Pittsburgh for that matter. |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
ugly wins become beautiful wins at the end of the season.
My feelings exactly. We've got work to do, no doubt. But we got the W! |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
I'm happy we won. Now that I've got that out of the way, I'm tired of being unable to consistently score points, game in and game out, year in and year out. All the nice yardage stats look great, but we just aren't scoring enough. I love the way 5-2 looks, but we simply have to find the endzone more.
Also, the lack of pass rush is just maddening. We come close to sacks all the time, but it just seems like we can't bring down the QB. On a side note, dating back to last season, we're 9-3 in our last 12 games. Pretty good. Imagine if we could score more. Plackemeier looked very solid. A helluva lot better than Durant. |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
The Ravens in 2000 won ugly a lot. They could afford to do so because they had a terrific defense. They ended up winning the Super Bowl.
For the 2008 Skins the defense brings it every single week. And the offense is better than the 2000 Ravens. The point is that, although winning pretty would be nice, we may be on the right track. |

His fumble was unfortunate, but Portis is still a god who carried the offense on his back today.
That was a very unfortunate fumble but it's silly for anyone to get on Portis the way he is running. That defensive player came up from behind and hacked the ball from behind Portis hard as hell. Portis didn't even see him. He's certainly having the MVP year.... just think if he had done weights and off-season workouts in previous years like he did this year! I agree with most in here... a win is a win but they cannot keep trying to lose games that they should have won easily. Last week, they totally dominated the Rams but still lost. Today, they had tons of more yardage in the first half than Cleveland but still had no score and punted like five times or so. They gotta put these teams away. I really didn't like it when they went up 14-3 and let Cleveland come right back down the field and only a magnificent goal line stand stopped them from scoring. But 5-2 is pretty damn good right now with this schedule and in this division and just one game behind the Giants. |

Our D is good and our offense has dropped recently from being great to just adequate(statwise it is excellent, but it is points that count). Our D does not produce turnovers, but the 2000 Ravens did. The Ravens also played in a rather weak division. The NFC East is rarely weak. The game that will help us truly gauge this team is the MNF game against the Steelers. This team might just have a hard time getting up for weak games and get jacked up for the big ones. The Pittsburgh game is the next 'big" game. Hopefully we will rise to the occasion and kick some ass. |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
Nobody said winning is always pretty. I'll take an ugly win over an ugly loss any day. LOL
5-2 is feeling good especially with Dallas going down today... again |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
an ugly win is a lot better than having to kiss your stepsister, but i'll take it every time.

I agree, but winning ugly is not really an option in our division, or more importantly getting to be the NFC rep in the SB. |
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
At the beginning of the season I thought if we could go 3-4 or 4-3 at this point, we would be in good shape with the rest of our division games at home. After going 4-1 I thought, damn this offense is already playing well, we're going to start beating the hell out of people soon. But other teams are getting better too, and we are still in only our 7th game in this offense. Portis is having a monster year and our D is playing lights-out. At this pace I think we will be playing our best football during the last half or quarter of the season. I still think we'll get better but 5-2 sure ain't bad.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
Not at all 53. But I don't think we can use the 2000 Ravens as inspiration. Our D is good, but not air tight as the Ravens D was that year. There will be games where our D is going to have to create turnovers to give us a shot at winning if our O can't put points on the board. THe Pitsburgh game is going to show our true colors.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Browns gameday thread
Just got home from the game, man that was a good game. Just curious, did anyone see Portis throw his helmet after his fumble. He threw it off a case and it must of bounced 20 feet in the air.

Oh I agree. I don't see much comparison between us and the 2000 Ravens. For one thing I think that would be an insult to our players on offense. Our offense must get better, and I might be in the minority but I believe it will. To me using the Ravens as inspiration would suggest giving up on the offense. That would be a mistake. If the offense were in the mindset of just MANAGING the game, I think we would be in trouble. Zorn wants an aggressive offense. We'll get there. |
