So if I had to choose between watching Parks & Recreation and Community, which one would you recommend?

Parks and Rec is probably the best show on Thursday nights now, sorry The Office

I don't watch either regularly, but I liked Parks & Rec over Community. Although it sounds like Community has stepped up it's game. I vaguely remember The Office being very slow at first and picking up steam, and it sounds like Community has done the same.

re: What Shows Are You Watching?

I tried watching the first few episodes of Community and was bored to death with it. I heard it's much improved now though, I'm just usually busy with other stuff at 8:00 and don't settle down to watch TV until 8:30 or 9.

Even Parks & Rec started slow and didn't hit their stride until season 2.

Why not watch both SS?

I'm sampling both right now, and right now Parks & Recs has the edge. I had the same feeling with Community when I watched the first few eps. I too have heard it's improved, but I'm liking P & R more.

Don't feel like adding two new shows to my list

re: What Shows Are You Watching?

anyone watching the new shotime show shameless? probably one of the most edgy shows in a while. the dad is william h macy and is a RAGING alcoholic, and his ex-wife walked out on him and their five kids, now the oldest kid is "raising" the other kids. the kids are all ages from 18 to 2 years. so far it's been a really good show. it's really different than anything else out there tight now, and i think it just got picked up for a second season

we came across it just a few weeks ago and missed the first two or three episodes so i am still confused as shit about william h macy's new wife and that whole situation, if anyone has caught this show and knows what up please fill me in.

Frank Gallagher is full of Irish love and pride for his large brood, but that's about it. He's usually partying or passed out drunk, mom is AWOL, and the kids are basically raising themselves. When we first meet the Gallaghers of working-class Chicago, the three oldest kids are all hot and bothered, in one form or another. Fiona is being pursued by Steve, a rich player with a flashy car and a loose credit card. Lip is tutoring neighbor Karen, who repays him in kind. And Ian is grappling with homosexuality, and being grappled by a co-worker. Meanwhile, the electric bill is due, there's no money, and someone has to look after baby Liam... It's one day at a time for this crazy dysfunctional family, but their mutual love and support for each other always see them through.

So since you've been wondering. I caught a few episodes of each, and I'm pretty much in the Park & Rec camp. I couldn't get into Community really, but loving Parks & Rec.

I said before i thought 30rock was the best show, after the last episode it makes me want to change my mind. They did it as tracy jordans wifes reality show and I thought it was awful

Yeah it was hyped as the funniest 30 Rock of the year, and I thought it was just ok. The show is fast approaching the shark in my opinion.

Maybe I should try these shows. I can't get beyond the history channel though. I love Top Shot and Pawn Stars.

I used to be a big fan but yeah, I think it's past it's peak. The fact that it's been bumped back to 10:00 this year can't be a good sign for it either.

The fact that it's been bumped back to 10:00 this year can't be a good sign for it either.
I think a big part of the reason for moving it to 10 was so they could get away with more; they even made a joke about it during the first 10pm episode. Either way, I guess I'm too desensitized because I don't notice it being all that much edgier.

As for the P&R vs Community debate - I think when Community is on its game in full on self-aware, pop culture-referential mode it can be one of the funniest/smartest shows on TV. But for week to week consistency I have to give the edge to Parks & Rec. The characters are just becoming so well-rounded and funny without seeming to be too stereotypical of a normal sitcom.
Plus, it doesn't hurt that Ron Swanson is now my official life coach. Just look at the signature I've been using for the last few weeks...

There were a few plot holes here and there and I hope they create some more tension but overall I think it has a really good tone and story (then again there was a massive thunder storm outside as I was watching last night so that probably helped).

AMC is really bringing it with their shows!

I know I was watching it my basement with my surrond sound took me a bit to realize it was not the show but outside making the thunder.

The show remind me of Heavy Rain the video game. I seriously could have kept watching it for another few hours if it when on.

Not to take anything away from AMC, especially after watching The Killing (twice), but this is why you need HBO in 10 days time:
who needs HBO when you have AMC? They are killing it! Now they just need to pay the MadMen folks.
I guess you didn't hear but they did get a deal worked out with Matthew Weiner and AMC worked out a new deal. The show is going to run for three more seasons and he'll be the showrunner for at least the next two with an option for the third. The only thing that sucks is that because it took so long to work everything out season 5 won't air until March 2012.

Want to touch on the second episode (maybe it is the third) about the Killings, god this is shaping up to be a great show. When they followed the family during the first night without Rosie or knowing of her death; it felt so real. How each family member was dealing with their grief.

I am stoked to see how it all plays out.

The other cop, not the lead, in The Killing (can't recall his name right now) is outstanding.

The other cop really is outstanding...love the "You want to hit? Let's party" scene. Oh and they really do capture Seattle for the most part except the heavy rain...we hardly ever have pouring rain like that. Shame it's all filmed in Vancouver B.C.
