Also mangini owned skip today lol basically said skip doesn't know what. He's talking about when it comes to football
Mangini, I think, has been one of the best additions on air ESPN has made in recent years. He may be up there with Mike Golic of my favorite people to hear talk about football

God i hate skip. Thats sooo low. Mangini was probably too classy to fireback and too cool to let it ruffle his feathers i bet.

This. I think Mangini has found his calling in life. It surely isn't being a football coach because he sucks at that, but god damn he's a great analyst. I'm still amazed at how good he is at it.
W/out question Gruden is gay for Romo and it gets annoying at times. But Romo's wr's were so bad last night. Romo did force a few when they were down. They were soundly beat by a better team. Chicago looks legit if they can keep Cutler upright. But in a big game I just don't trust Jay Cutler.
I think he's like that with most QBs though. Guy loves some QB.

Re: Around the NFL...Week 4 Style

Mangini just isn't a great people person or motivator. He's not a rah rah kind of guy. Being a head coach is about so much more than Xs and Os.

Idk it's actually fun for us to be scoring finally, I love defense but I'm tired of seeing the skins not scoring

Too bad the Patriots don't have a star defensive player that would b*tch about something to the point that the NFL would make a rule helping defenses (a la Brady rule).

Yeah, I'd like to see the D get a little rule-love. It is more difficult than ever to play defense.

The league has tweaked the rules over the years to increase scoring, I don't see them going backwards at this point.

Re: Around the NFL...Week 4 Style

The league wide battle of offense vs defense goes back and forth. Who's to say some defensive genius won't develop a scheme that limits offenses even under the new regime of rules?

Re: Around the NFL...Week 4 Style

I certainly think the defense has the short straw right now and if Orakpo was healthy I'm sure people would've pointed out how he is not getting holding calls. I would like to see a little more leeway for the defense as too much scoring is just as boring as not enough scoring.

Gtothearry 10-02-2012 02:56 PM
The league has tweaked the rules over the years to increase scoring, I don't see them going backwards at this point.
I wish the league would revert back to classic NFL. The 6'5 receiver and TE's just can't be covered with rules that are set up to benefit the Offense.

I like 20-17 games much more then 40-37 games.

actually the illegal contact came from P.Manning bitching too much not Brady

I know its for player safety and not the benefit of defense but the practically automatic touchbacks certainly benefit defenses too.

The rule against prohibiting low hits on QBs came after Bernard Pollard took out Brady in 2008.

Looking at stats now - so the only guys even on the list are peyton brees and brady. Peyton would have been damn close had he not gotten injured for touchdowns.

I think Manning will.

He's currently 15,848 yards behind. He'll do another 4 years.

Manning is 101 TDs behind Favre. Not sure he catches that record though, but he very well if he is solid the next 4 years. Just needs to average 25 TDs a year, which isn't hard for him. That year he sat out would probably be his downfall if he comes up short.
