Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
as a reference point DeAngelo Hall would be 30 this year, Talib just turned 27....not sure we should consider a guy that will soon be 36....no way a CB can truly hold his own at that age...unless you are Darrel Green
At 35, PFF rated Winfield out as a 25.5. Both Hall and Talib rated in the negatives. Maybe he doesnt truly hold his own at that age, but the majority of alternatives dont hold their own at any age based on those metrics. Pacman has the next best rating as a FA (at 11.1). His antics still worry me some although it appears he is putting that behind him. |
Might as well sign ronde barber

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I'd be fine with Winfield as a reserve...has to better than Cedric Griffin. If we sign him as a third corner and get a better CB to start alongside Wilson, good move. We're rolling the dice with Winfield as a starter and would probably have been better off with Hall.
I still like Antoine Cason or Quentin Jammer since Toler is gone now. Chris Houston, Keenan Lewis, Jerraud Powers, Captain Munnerlyn, Marcus Trufant...all decent options. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
For a reasonable price, Winfield would be great as an over-the-cap-penalty-hump stopgap, so long as we bring in some younger developmental folks, too.
You have to have confidence in your starting CB's. Winfield offers more confidence than Talib or Pacman. And although we all hope that Crawford breaks out, right now he does not inspire confidence as a starter. |

boy Michael Huff would be a great pick up for us at safety. This would be my free agency safety choice.
Browns looking into Fred Davis. :(
I don't expect the Skins to sign Davis if there is competition for his services. That doesn't bother me much because I accept that we can't keep every player we would like to keep due to our current cap constraints. Also, we won without him and it's unknown how well he'll be able to perform coming off of a major injury. |

@john_keim That's at least the 2nd time they reached out on Cason...They did just after midnight Fri/Sat. A.J. Smith knows him like a book |

Damn I guess we will just win the East again and make the playoffs; how awful! |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Worst case on any open spot at this point is we put a rookie/2nd year guy in and see. With 44 of our guys returning, and the spots the rookies would be playing already our weakest(minus TE), I don't see it as doom and gloom, just an offseason junkie withdrawal period.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Nnamdi is the best CB out there, he had a bad year last year. I look for him to bounce back, the problem is if we can fit him to a friendly contract.

I actually agree on this one, guy was an All Pro in Oakland. Yeah he's a little older now but he's better than what we have. Obviously |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Gotta disagree on Asomugha. Anytime I've heard Tim and Pat talk about him on Moving the Chains they both seem to agree that he's lost a step and simply isn't the same guy he used to be. There are better options out there. I don't normally cite BR but this is a good breakdown of him and his struggles.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Qadry Ismail on NFLN reported that the Ravens cut Bernard Pollard and that he was paid $2 mil. last year. IMO we can afford that. Pollard would look good in the maroon and black.

Good news.
Any word on Meriweather's health? He was amazing in that one game last year. :D |

Is PFF looking at the entire history of a player to come up with their player rankings, or just recent season(s)? |
Is PFF looking at the entire history of a player to come up with their player rankings, or just recent season(s)?
That is based on how the player graded out only from the previous season. |

So Talib low score is probaby from only playing 10 games, and being put on a short leash when first traded to NE? I thought he looked pretty good in the playoffs though. |

I don't buy it either. Sure he might come for a visit but is he really interested in splitting time or being a 3rd down back? Highly doubt it. |

I think Mike and Kyle would have Reggie be a slot WR on some plays and then of course RB on 3rd down. I'm sure he'd be down for that . |
Where is this Bush talk coming from?
A lot of places...rotoworld etc etc I just read that if he doesnt get a deal in Detroit he is coming to Washington and then Arizona. I dont know about the third down back thing. I think he has enough talent that they could line him up in a lot of different places. With Griffin, the Butler and Bush in the backfield the defenses would be doing a lot of WTFing. |

I don't think anyone pays for performance from 2 seasons ago, not in todays NFL. |

If he can agree to splitting time, flexing out, and being a 3rd down back, I would love to have him. But I just dont see it. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Antoine Winfield is good, still has a year or two left in the tank, but is old and has had injuries catching up to him in the past couple of years.
Perhaps the redskins wait it out, see if Winfields still there, sign him to a cap friendly deal, and draft Tyrann Mathieu to set and watch behind Antoine while Mathieu becomes punt returner. Cason, he's alright, but I'd rather have Talib over him and Winfield. |
