Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday
Here we go people!
Honestly I'm hoping it gets done. Just having him in the field alone helps our offense. Then having him on punt return elevates our return team to elite. Yes, the off field issues are a concern. But at this point maybe we need a gym with a fiery attitude like that. I've always hated him cause he talked trash and was cocky, but if he's wearing a skins jersey doing it I think I could get used to it.
Not quite sure of the off-field issues everyone is referencing. Santana Moss said early, the man has never been suspended so what off-field issues are everyone speaking of? Now can he be a cancer, certainly. But the guy has never really been in trouble. |

Jackson has left the building but he doesn’t negotiate the contract. His agent does and agent stayed. Pretty sure Jax has a phone. #Redskins |
Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday
If they come to an agreement, I hope it's for less than 8 million/year. Because if he wants #1 WR money, he's going to have to go to a team that actually needs a #1 and has plenty to spend; perhaps Oakland.

I hope we don't pay him more than Garcon. Keep forgetting how much we overpaid for Josh Morgan, but he's on that list too. (free agency, still a hit-or-miss proposition like the draft). |
Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday
Per me both sides are superstitions and will not agree to or sign a contract until April 2nd.

If I had to guess, there calling other teams and saying give us your best numbers. D Jax might just want to be wined and dined by all the teams.

Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday
Sources close to the Warpath say that both sides are superstitious and will not agree to or sign a contract until later this month.

Claiming "the team doesn't respect me," DJax has already demanded that that contract be renegotiated. |
Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday
If this falls thru can we get LaToya Jackson instead?

Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday
The Redskins won in '87 and '91 with an excellent set of pass catchers that helped to lead the team. Yes we had a running game, and last time I checked we still have a good one. But we also had Clark, Sanders, and Monk. Those three did all kinds of things on offense to help alot of areas. .
We had great receivers, however we had a dominant OL / DL in both years. Without the Hogs putting Timmy Smith on the map in SB 22 and the least sacks allowed in NFL history in '91 (outside of a give-up final game where we rested starters). Those teams don't win the SB.
I'm not against the DJax signing, but it's got to be a cap friendly, back-loaded (as much as possible) contract where we can cut him loose if needed after 3 years. His speed/quickness is his only weapon and he's 27. We also won't be a playoff contender each year with DJax, Garcon & RG3, but a medicore-poor OL & defense. |

Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday
My other source Eddie Spaghetti notes Desean Jackson has agreed to the following terms
5 years 75 million, 55 million guaranteed, bonus of 100 bottles of prego sauce if he catches one pass, bonus shoots up to 5000 bottles if he catches 2. The contract is laden with incentives, the most important being if DJax catches 10 passes, he will have to change his religion to pastafarian and worship the flying spaghetti monster, but he will get a lifetime supply of kraft macaroni and cheese. So, worth it? |

True, but the agent does not sign a contract. It maybe bunk, but it's never a good thing to let a FA leave without a signature on a contract. |

Silence is often a good thing though, leaks usually mean things are breaking down. |

The agent writes the contract, uses a thing called a cell phone, and tells the player it's done, or moving on. There is probably some haggling over, sticking point on, some way to recoup guarantees, and also over roster bonus structures (Bruce has used them in very creative ways this year). That said, if it's not done today, then Skins fans just need to be happy that he is at the least out of division. It's really a win win from the Skins perspective. |
