Egh. Double Egh. Griff looked like there was no rust in the first quarter and regressed throughout the game with flashes of competence after the first. My question since the "he needs time to develope" shtick came about is this: how much time is too much? We are on year 3 now. Year one looked good...but so far 2 and 3 aren't going so well.....
Defense looked good for the first quarter and a half...then seemed to abandon the blitz?? I saw the dbs in zone after amerson and Breeland showed early they could man up. Wtf. Looked like prevent d in the second half. Egh!!!!!! Our entire team looks lost for the most part. It's a fucking shame.
He did ok, didn't throw 4 picks. Mad a couple bad throws. Made some deep throws on the money. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
If you watch Gruden's post game conference it's clear he's pissed with the defense. In my mind, that gives me hope because I know he's a smart guy and will either A) Get Hazlet fired up and get him coaching how he needs to, or B) Fire him and replace him with competent staff.
This game looked exactly like I expected. RG3 is rusty and our team still isn't very good. I'll admit the raw talent we have is probably the only thing keeping us in the game, but we need to remember this is Gruden's FIRST year. Give him at least 3 to really get "his" guys and players and personnel and then grade him. I believe in Gruden. It just takes time. |

The guy is a career loser with a track record of leaving a defense worse off than when he got to it. It is UNREAL that this clown is still employed. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
I was watching football life and was reminded that ole Hazmat Suit got rid of Ricky Williams. After the Saints sold their draft for Ricky, he still wound up being a beast running back. Hazmat Suit is crazy.

We all know you have an undying love for RG-3, but just stop. Dude got worse as the game went on, and it culminated with him throwing the season into the dirt. You keep mentioning that he did not throw 4 picks like that is some major accomplishment, but you cant throw anything when you are holding the ball for 5-10 effing seconds. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
This was a winnable game but unfortunately the D cant stop anybody. Something has to change on D.

Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
We simply do not have players on defense. Where was Kerrigan and Murphy? What about the prized free agent Hatcher? Where was the game saving sack when we needed it? Clark should not be on an NFL field at this point. Bowen also gets blown 5 yards off the ball. So many players on this defense are just average or below average.
|
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
It is not a secret we need some additional talent from another draft and FA to reinforce the D
And hopefully in the offseason mgmt and Jay will fairly evaluate Haz's tenure. |

Hatcher always seems to be coming out of the game and I dont understand why. I bet he played less than 75% of the snaps. |

I don't know that I want 1 defensive lineman playing more than 75% of the snaps. Even the most well-conditioned d-linemen need breathers. If a player is tired, I'd rather he remove himself from the game, we know what happens when tired players stay on the field, especially on defense. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Minnesota had been average 12.5 points the last 4 weeks leading up to this game....Defense blew it the second half

While he doesn't need to play every down I do think he should be able to handle playing 3 out of 4 plays. When he's not in it makes a big difference. |

Agree. Griffin didn't look horrible. At times he looked pretty good. O-Line is a mess; pass protection is horrible. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
While you can point to multiple people/coaches for the loss, I feel that Minnesota's o-line and d-line outplayed the Redskins front 7 defenders and the o-line.
You can fire and hire all the people you want, but until you get solid players in the trenches, you're not going to win many games. |

Haslett got outcoach by Norv big-time. Norv made adjustments at halftime, Has didnt

Their d-line played very well too, the Vikes have a good defense and it showed. I've said it many teams, each of our team's three units are not good enough to carry the other two. You win games by having all your units play well. Offense left a lot of points on the field in the first half and the defense shit the bed in the second half. |

I've been reading these non-stop rants of yours and your twin CASkins for two days now and, believe me, it is tiresome at this point. I'm sure you've made your point with everyone by now. RGIII is probably our QB for the rest of the season and there's nothing you can do about it, so try to deal with it. |

The Griffin bashing from fans and media is crazy. I actually thought he played well enough for us to win the game. We expect more from him, and it looks like he's still doing some of the same things as last year. But he also made some very nice passes and really helped open up the running game. Garcon could have helped his QB out with a drop that went right through his hands. That would have been a big play. What I want to see is improvement from yesterday to Tampa. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Griffin led two drives to put us ahead in the 2nd half but the D blew those leads.
|
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Some words about the D-Line:
Barry Coefield has been missed. We've not been able to put on the field the D-Line we've envisioned, Coefield and Hatcher at 100% fucking up Olines. Really looking forward to seeing that. Someone go back and find my post about Steven Bowen being a huge mistake when we signed him. He's been a major FA bust by Bruce. Bowen needs to go and may be time to move on from Jenkins. Chris Baker and that arm flailing beast Frank Kearse have been decent. |

Leg injury with cofield, he's set to return during the bye. I cant wait to see him and Hatcher ballin. Plus I just like the name Barry, especially for a NT |

Bowen obviously isn't 100% coming off that knee injury. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
III did not play a bad game, but he didn't play a good game either... I'm sick of people making excuses for him... We drafted him to be a top 5 QB and he simply isn't... He isn't going to lose games, but he will never win you games either... That dirt throw to a wide open Garcon really opened my eyes... He will never be what Luck and Wilson already are, and we paid a very hefty price for his services... I can't even remember the last time he won a game... What does that say about him???
And how Haslett still has a job is mind blowing... His defense has never been any good, here or with the Rams... How is he still employed? |

Made a couple good plays (escape play to Helu, all the throws to DJax), and made a couple terrible ones (Int, last throw, holding the ball). He's rusty, like most would be. The most aggrevating plays to me are when guys dont help him like the back to back drops by Alfmo and Garcon on the deep pass in the 3rd(?) quarter. We cant be dropping perfectly thrown balls. |
Re: Redskins vs Vikings Gameday thread
Awful, awful, awful loss. Huge opportunity with Cowboys losing and now Foles out likely for an extended period of time.
Let's see what we're made of. Recent history suggest this team will fold in the 2nd half of the season. Another wasted season appears to be upon us. |

I think Cooley said it best these last eight games, need RG3 to be really good or really bad. Make the decision easy. |

You can't pin this loss on Griffin
Yes he had a couple of bad throws, but it was our poor O-line and Defense that really lost it for us
There is plenty of blame to go around... And our defense is our defense for the rest of the year so deal with that. Non stop rants my ass. Why dont you read what i say and try to talk about it like an adult instead of just writing it off as a "rant". Basically all i have said about Griff is he crumbled during crunch time at the end of each half and that he held the ball too long. A number of others have said the same. I expect more from a #2 pick that we mortgaged our future for. Excuse time is over. I gave Griff credit for every nice throw he made in the game. I have said over and over that I HOPE that Griff becomes the guy. If my opinion is that he wont be the guy and that upsets you than block me or go fishing or something. |

Punch, you will have to learn as I have that when we point out the obvious regarding III, we will be attacked... Some people, and I don't know if he is one, will defend the guy and already have pre-made excuses... He is simply not anywhere close to living up to what we paid for him... |
