i think the time to throw the ball away was when he dropped back and didnt see any open receivers .. by the time he scrambled to the outside, it was a TD or bust.

speaking of not seeing an open receiver on that play .... reed lines up in the slot with no one covering him, reed runs a seam and raises his arm to show he is open .... RG3 was started pre-snap looking left, RG3 maintained vision to the left post-snap ...... this is what frustrates receivers.

how the fuck does RG3 not see an uncovered Reed pre-snap and not make him his primary read (if he wasnt primary to begin with)?
From your video ,by the time he gets control again he is out of bounds
Once he bobbled it while in the air he was basically a receiver catching the ball (odd rule but it is what it is), so he had to land inbounds with possession. It's kind of like that Calvin Johnson play from a years back
But to my knowledge, the officials have never interpreted the rule that way when a player extends the ball over the goal line with two hands on it.

This is a bad call, like the Calvin Johnson (no TD) call, like the replacement refs call in the GB/Seattle game TD call. Technically correct, but misinterpreted. And those other calls were called bad for what they were. If the refs started calling holding on our OL every play, which they could do to any line, it would be a bad call too. But I guess we are used to just taking it now.

Agree with you, the no TD call was splitting hairs at the stupid level.

Either way it was awesome to see RG look pretty similar to the 2012 version again, it got me pumped and hope to hell Redskins park finds a way to mentor/coach the kid to his potential.

i posted the video in the hopes that we could continue to bash RG3 for missing a wide open receiver .. literally waving his hands in the air.

how does RG3 not see jordan reed lined up in the slot with no one covering him.

its like the giants defenders had a brain fart and totally blew the coverage ... and we didnt even notice.

It's a fumble, it was ruled a fumble and the NFL has since said the call was correct. It's one thing to not like the rule, it's another to be blame the referees for the failings of RG3 and the poorly managed and coached Redskins.

But it never hit the ground, another player, or really left being carried/batted by his hands.

I guess groupthink is a thing. I took it for granted, like everyone said, RG3 never got his feet down. Here's relevant screenshots:

He's got it.

He's got it again, dragging the left foot. Ball isn't over the goal line yet.

Still got it, still dragging left foot. Oh look, the ball's past the goal line.

Still got it, dragging his left and then right foot too. He's got the ball, both feet down. That's better control of the ball than guys poking it over the line. At this point, guys usually drop the ball here.

STILL got it, STILL dragging the feet, going out of bounds. (see the pylon?)

At this point, he's no different than any runner poking the ball over the line. He had it, lost it, got it again dragging the left foot. Then took the ball over the line. Touchdown, unless you want to say every time a guy pokes it over the line and drops it should be called back.

I tried to tell you guys. Moss and Garcon and others tried to tell the refs. The call on the field, touchdown, should never have been overturned in the first place!

It is similar to a catch. Once he lost it in midair he has to have control of the ball throughout the process, which includes hitting the ground. Once he hit the ground he lost control of the ball… hence a fumble with no clear recovery.

edit: And again, I overlook, contrary to what everyone is saying, RG3 didn't leave his feet! He keeps stepping, even drags his feet to stay in! He was never in midair!

Who gives a crap about the play, pretend he scored and we lost by 4. Ill even throw in a field goal to make it tantalizingly close to a win. For good teams momentum carries, but we would have crapped the bed in the second half no matter what. We have all seen that movie before.

People on the team, and here, just take it. Even though there's clear video evidence not just that the TD shouldn't have been overturned, but that is was in fact a TD. Garcon, Moss, other who objected might as well address the rest of the team thusly, though this would be too harsh, lol.

Get over it man. Officials with much better looks than yours and much more knowledge of the game say it wasnt a touchdown. If one of them sat you down and explained it to you with tape than maybe you would feel better. Thats not going to happen though so you have no choice but to ....get over it.

Yea it's a fumble when did he ever lose the ball or hit the ground ? The ball was bobbled but he never lost control of it . NfL is just to damn smart for it on good. They make a simple play like its rocket science to see a player scored a TD. Bad rule and bad call . If a player stretches out on the goaline and the player knocks it out of his hands simultaneously is it ruled a TD? Yes because the ball broke the plain. How many times have you seen a runner laying on top of another player but dives out reaches he ball to the goaline but only to lose it and it still is called a TD? I remember back when we played the Carolina Panthers and RB Stephen Davis scored from the 1 yard line and he stretched out the ball over the goaline and the Panthers knocked it out of his hands and they ruled it a fumble.
Like Moss says even when we do something good it always turns out bad. We have been getting screwed on bad calls ever since Synder became the owner.

The officials on the field ruled it a TD. But the official booth reviews on all TD's told the refs on the field it was not TD . How many times have we had a bad called on us on the field get over turned in the booth ? We always get some lame BS called on us. I do not in any way believe their is an agenda of some sort to make sure the Redskins lose. If you really think about that I am sure you will realize it is just dumb. What I do believe is that bad football teams cannot overcome bad calls or stupid rules.....and when you lose those bad calls or stupid plays become excuses for losing instead of footnotes in a victory. Had we handled our business in the second half than nobody would give a crap about that play.
Years and years of not being good enough to overcome bad calls or stupid rules have literally morphed into this conspiracy theory that the refs and the league are out to get us. Lol.

Now you are just making up shit, and most of it is because you still don't clearly understand the rules.

The moment that RGIII lost the ball, he then falls under the rules as if a WR catches a pass. He must possess the ball all the way to the ground. It doesn't matter he regained possession before the goal line and crossed it, he has to possess through the landing. RGIII did not do that.

For any doubt that he didn't lose the ball:

Jump...Dive? What's the difference really? He dove for the goal line which is pretty much a forward jump.
