Look at the cost to educate the kid in those DEMOCRATE run cities with all the violence I listed above.
The cost to educate a kid in the ghetto doesn't cost any more to educate a kid in the suburbs. In fact, many of the poverty stricken schools don't get the funding they desperately need. Also, it's hard to keep/recruit teachers that want to teach in those areas as well.
There is American tax money being spent by poverty pimps in these areas who aren't doing their job...little accountability.
Well, if you are bitching about the educational system still, you are preaching to the choir about how ineffective it is. You can thank GWB for the "no child left behind" gem which tied school funding to these asinine tests. What in the hell do you think was going to happen? Not only did GWB fuck up the middle east and our debt, but he wrecked our educational system as well. Also, I swear to god Chico, if you mention common core, I'm going to slap the stupid out of you. :spank: Common core isn't a federal mandated thing, it was devised by the states and instituted by the states. This is also another stupid ass educational failure. If you already knew this, then you are ahead of most people. Until the issue of poverty is addressed, the violence will continue. I don't think there is a single simple solution out there, and quite frankly, a lot of help and support is going to have to come from those very communities as well. It's going to continue being a vicious cycle until it gets worked out. The main problem is, nobody gives a flying fuck about poor black people. Many policies (see drug war) are aimed at keeping them exactly where they are. Putting loads of hurdles in a man's path means he has more obstacles to stumble over. Couple that with media portraying these people being the main reason for the downfall of America. They act as if they're some sort of drag on the finances, when much of welfare doesn't even hit 10% of our budget. You want to start seeing who the drain on the country is, start adding up all the taxes the .001% are evading with tax loop holes and off-shore accounts. Add up all the corporate welfare handed out to oil companies and other industries. Add up all the taxes that huge corporations are avoiding paying by using loopholes and off shore accounts. I guarantee you, it'll dwarf that welfare number on the budget graph. So let's take some of that money, pump it back into our economy and better paying jobs and help get people out of poverty.
All look at the most poverty ridden areas in the country...Its not a fact violence is in all impoverished communities.
First off, I NEVER said that violence is in ALL impoverished communities. I said that violence and poverty are directly related in the grand scheme of things. I dare you to point me out one middle or upper class neighbor full of violent crime. Now find out every single violent crime-ridden area and tell me what the poverty level is. If it isn't poor, I'll send you a 6 pack of your choice. |

And I refuted the fact that we aren't safer now than we were 4 or 8 years ago, sorry but the overall numbers support that. Violent crime has been on the decline since 91 and an occasional uptick does not mean we're in a death spiral. I certainly never discounted the fact violence is a major issue in some places or said that everything is fine and dandy. But again, big picture violent crime has been tending down for quite some time. Trump painted a very dark picture last night and as usual used a very broad brush. He's tapped into people's fears very well... fear of crime, terrorism, immigrants, etc. And of course he has all the answers to fix it. Sadly there are a lot of small minded people out there eating this up hook line and sinker.
Preach brother..... |

Performing very limited military actions doesn't constitute a war. If so, I suppose we were at war with Lybia or other countries we do airstrikes. (Africa being one) http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/08/world/africa/us-airstrikes-somalia.html?_r=0 When we put boots on the ground and go all in like we did with Iraq, then you can call it a war. As noted before, the word "war" is thrown around too loosely.
You're a moron, bro. The days of two governments declaring war on one another are gone now that we're in the nuclear age. Wars are fought guerrilla style by crazed lunatics who tout their religious right to kill in the name of their God. Obama may be avoiding a ground engagement but we are definitely fighting.
No, today wars will come via economy, not nukes(see Russian, North Korea and Iran sanctions) or even armed conflict. Nobody is going to ever fire off another nuke. The US was the first and will be the last. Much our political maneuvering is to make the other nations suffer via economics. That's why China is such a huge threat to us, not the fact they have a largest standing army in the world. (with no way to get them over here) Now with rock dwellers like the middle east, we'll just continue to bomb them since they hold all the cards basically in the oil/gas fields. Can't really cut them off economically since we need their goods. When those fields dry up, that's when we'll stop giving a shit about the middle east. (much like Africa) It's interesting your brought up the crazed lunatics. Who the hell do you think armed those very lunatics? Yes, the same people that armed Bin Laden and his Al Queda group. (Hint: It's us) These people are propped up as the big bad boogie man to pump fear into populace so they'll agree to continue the same failed foreign policies that have gotten us in this mess to begin with. You have a insanely higher chance of getting murdered by your own countryman or a drunk driver than you do of some crazed lunatic terrorist. Yet that's what we should focus on? Russia also thought they could continue to fight these guerilla fighters and we see where that landed them. Economy collapsed and they could no longer afford the war. What direction do you think this country is going in? History often repeats itself and it seems not many people learn from mistakes. One other thing, why are we going after ISIS when we should be going after the main supporters of them. Saudia Arabia. They are by far the biggest terrorist supporters in the world, and have been directly linked to 9/11. Why are they still allies? Oil. That's why. You can't call every military campaign a "war". Were we at war with Lybia? Africa? War is used too loosely as I already pointed out. When it becomes a situation when we mobolize a good portion of our troops to the effort, then we can call it a war. So yes, it is a semantics argument. |

So they really don't care, just as long as they can gain...its parasitic. So local government, social programs, urban housing development, real estate developers and owners, clergy, even activist, will benefit off the back of the poor. Politicians are the greatest offenders. As someone who has worked in the projects, I've seen it first hand. Why am I bringing up the Democratic Party, well it's simple, you listed previously clear left winged ideas and thinking. I'm saying, those cities of the urban blight which you mention violence are all democrat run strongholds for 25-30 years...they never done anything to improve it. So I don't want to hear finger pointing because the blame is clear when it comes down to facts. Education is one key to ending the violence...but it's not the schools only, it's the partnership with the community. Parents have to be a stakeholder, and guess what, it's not nearly as strong as it should be. Again, as someone who worked for vcu and worked with impoverished communities within Richmond and the school system...the kids who are innocent victims from a) system that is inefficient and ineffective and b) family value structure. Schools arent there to raise the kid, that is done at home hence personal responsibility. Being poor isn't a crime. So that's my feeling about violence in impoverished areas...education is the key to squash it. Hope this clears my opinion. |

So yes, it is a semantics argument.
Makes no sense. If we weren't running an aerial campaign ISIS would still control a lot more real estate and revenue generating assets, funding itself well enough to pay its soldiers enough to convince even young impressionable people to commit to their cause, even if they don't share the full fledged radical views. Money talks. It's a war. You seem to be unfamiliar with the specifics. We've strategically targeted the oil fields, refineries, distribution centers, and critical infrastructure first. Our guys in the Pentagon have picked those targets for a reason, to degrade their capability to fund themselves. It's as war-like a strategic mindset as you'll find. |

I watch House of Cards, and I see the life story of Bill and Hillary, I mean seriously, a good ole southern boy gets in, his wife doesn't care about his indiscretions if it keeps them in power, she longs to be a senator then secretary of state. Hell they even have her running for VP. I will not be shocked if one day it comes out that the whole series was based in large part on their lives. As for Trump/Putin, Remember when Pres Obama told him just wait until after the election. My guess is Putin will try to talk to any US politician. I doubt it matters a hill of beans once the person is in the White House. But boy it sure deflects from the Democratic party's railroading of Bernie and their incompetence at protecting emails. |
So how concerned should we be about the Trump/Putin link?
I feel like this is some serious House of Cards shit.
What if there is? What been the current administration handling of Russia and Putin? Obama hasn't really done anything to impede Russia influence in the current world theater....so why are folks worried now? This supposed hacked happened awhile ago, what's the status of the investigation? If anything this lax administration should be able to update us on the finding of the investigation...I would think? I see a lot of folks sitting on their hands and the easy thing to do is point fingers. Oh there's this too:Sources: US officials warned DNC of hack months before the party acted - CNNPolitics.com |

He's afraid of Hillary. That is why he is backing Trump!

Republican nominee for President
People overthink all this crap. Its pretty simple. Vote for the person who is less a scumbag. Trump stood there and clearly made fun of a handicapped person. Hillary, and any other person with a fraction of a mind or heart that is operating correctly, would never do that in a million years. Eff emails, political aspirations, greed, mistakes - leave it all alone - for Trump and her. You need look no further than this one action to realize he is the bigger piece of shit.

Re: Republican nominee for President
wow really.
It's amazing how polar opposite we see the world.
Not sure how we're the opposite as far as House of Cards go. Man you really take things and run with it. I was just commenting on the TV like drama of everything. You're honestly not concerned about their relationship, or how he's openly praised several dictators including Putin? |

Donald Trump Calls on Russia to Find Hillary Clinton’s Missing Emails http://nyti.ms/2ausQ98
A little disturbing I would say |
Re: Republican nominee for President
Just a curiosity exercise. rank order the following 10 items on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being the least disconcerting, 10 being the most disconcerting. no more than one tie.
A) Trump calls on Russia to find Hillary's lost emails B) DNC emails shows Democratic leaders actively worked against Sanders C) Trump University D) HC's handling of Benghazi E) Libertarian party has nude man at convention F) Trumps call for building a wall G) HC's speaking fees from big business H) Trumps tweeting I) HC's enabling her husband's womanizing J) Lack of libertarian media coverage I tried to pull things that have stood out to me. I am sure there are others that people feel belong in this list, maybe those can get honorable mentions. or maybe this is a futile exercise. But I am really curious how people prioritize candidate actions. |

No, just putting different levels of items. That might be the lowest one to you. Can't have all supercritical ones right? |
Re: Republican nominee for President
I guess it's too hard to just address the craziness that is Trump openly calling on another country to cyber attack our own fucking country? Unreal.
I'd say this latest Trump drama is pretty high on any list we should be concerned with. Also, is he hiding his tax returns because he doesn't want us to know just how deep he is in Putin's pocket?? Is this the guy people would really trust when it comes to national security?? This shit is getting really insane. |
Re: Republican nominee for President
Would you trust Hill & Bill Show?

Re: Republican nominee for President
amazing responses, thanks for showing how great our discourse can be.
Does anyone think Trump's statement was more than a very bad attempt at highlighting Hillary's email fiasco? I'm sure Putin said to himself and his comrades, Our great saviour Trump has called on us to search and find Hillary's lost emails, I am now directing all state resources be focused on that. As for his taxes, I'ld use the same line - when the IRS finds Hillary's emails, I'll share my taxes. Hillarious line, is this the guy for national security? Pure political spin because we know Hillary would have trouble passing a security clearance if she weren't who she is. (We know Hillary blew at national security, liberals would love to cast doubt on Trump's so that he wouldn't use her highly questionable activities against her. Standard political playbook) |
Re: Republican nominee for President
Also, these emails were hacked when from Jan 2015(!) to May 2016. Trump may have believed he was going to be the candidate but nobody (ie Putin) thought he was.
Hillary Clinton, and her political machine, is amazing at blowing smoke and creating distractions from her weaknesses. If it were a normal republican running, I bet that she would have a 20 point lead, because she plays deceitful politics better than most anyone(look how she did it to Bernie). It's going to be interesting to watch it play out as Trump openly calls out her campaign lies. Of course, he will name call and be petty, so he will be just as bad. Oh libertarians why can't you just be sane :( |
Re: Republican nominee for President
Unreal what you guys are willing to look the other way on.
Too bad we can't discuss things without it coming down to "well what about your guy" BS. I'm not pro Hilary as much as I'm anti Trump. I think he's flat out dangerous. Hilary doesn't even have to blow smoke, Trump creates plenty on his own. That's what's scary, he's so brazen and doesn't know when to shut up. |
