3 and not biased at all , I truly believe he's going to excel in WSH
I agree. I think people are totally underestimating his overall talent. There is a reason he was the #2 overall pick in the draft and recently turned only 29. Fully believe his Indy ousting has more to do with Irsay than anything else.

I gotta good feeling about this. I love to fact he gets to play the Eagles twice a year. Wentz will give us the best QB play since Cousins was here, but I just pray Logan Thomas and Samuel are healthy for the upcoming season. Gotta surround him with some dudes, if we go WR first pick Turner got the pieces he needs to move the ball down the field |

Our receivers would be sick. Wilson is absolutely blowing up right now and is a lethal deep threat also. Torn between London or Wilson but leaning Wilson if they go receiver 1st rd. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
I'm cautiously optimistic. I like Wentz, and I like the move. Def an upgrade if healthy, and hopefully he can right his ship here. With the other holes on this team, his addition gives us a chance to concentrate on the other holes for this draft.
I swore I wasn't gonna get the ticket again this year, but here we are. |

I hope this happens. What I think is more likely to happen is he falls somewhere between the top 10-20, we get a Wildcard spot, and lose a close one to Deshaun Watson and the Seattle Seahawks. |

Good, I don't like the Steelers. Perfect place for Cousins and now I know they won't win the Super Bowl. |

In some games, I can see Turner called right plays but QB didn't read it correctly or whatever. And in a few other games, Turner called bad plays. I just hope the extension for Turner is not for multiple years. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Signing a new contract wont stop them from firing him if they think he is the problem, obviously they dont right now but it is not like there is a coaches salary cap to manage

But if they do have some concerns/questions about Wentz' coachability, then it sure won't hurt to reenforce your OC's position a bit. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Thanks French.
Edmund - you are correct, it's not big deal if we sign a coach to multiple years and then fire him before the contract expires. It's just that Rivera is well known for being loyal (I'm the same way and I eventually learned that being loyal to a fault can be harmful) so I hope Rivera will not stick with Turner too long if he continues to show little to nothing next year. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Turner hasn't had jack shit to work with at QB so far, and yet the offensive rankings last year weren't all that bad and actually improved from the year before. I'm fine with giving him an extension.

I think Ron is loyal. I thought for sure hed switch to Allen after the bye but he didnt and we won 4 straight, giving the team a fun hyped up 4 weeks throwing stones at whiteboards, JDR winning in raiders. ------------ Non football related ... Isnt "overly" kinda baked into the "loyal" pie? Can you be overly loyal .. or isnt that just loyal? Like "absolutely quiet" .. isnt "quiet" by its definition "quiet". Theres no levels to quiet. It is either quiet or its not. quiet = absolutely quiet Youre either loyal or youre not. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
McVay got to a SB and made the playoffs a couple times w/Goff. Kyle has also been to one SB and one game from another w/ Jimmy G.
I would put the current Wentz a little better than both of them. You make this kind of move Ron plus extent your OC then you have to get to the playoffs this year. If those guys are making it w/ not as good of a QB then Ron should. Fair or not that is how I would judge him this year. Especially the 49ers. You can argue Kyle is getting more out of his roster than anyone in the league. Ron, Scott and Jack need to do better. |

Ron needs a big step forward kind of season. Double digit wins and a win in the playoffs or he's going to be feeling some serious heat. |

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Losing JDM Sucks but that injury he had was no joke.. I'm sure that played into it
|
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Starting to really wonder what the strategy is. We don't have a ton of great backs and McKissic made our offense much better. So far other than getting Wentz, we no longer have Collins, Scherff, Settle, and now McKissic. People can spin it any way they want but are all notables losses.
|
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
I like JDM a lot, and he produced well here - had some big plays/games. That said, his production is replaceable. He was TH's security blanket on passing downs since he can't really get the ball down the field. With Carson, that is not an issue and I see the offense morphing to his strengths which makes bringing back JDM less important, especially at a premium. Gibson can catch the ball out of the backfield, as can Patterson, and we will probably see less of that anyway.

Scherff and Settle were known losses. Collins was gone if he didn't restructure. JDM played well enough to sign for more elsewhere. I don't see any of these losses as a surprise, or detrimental to the team's success. We have a significant upgrade at the most important position, and it's literally day two of free agency. |

Scherff is an All Pro guard and our oline clearly was worse when he was gone. Collins provided good run support although not quite as upset about him being gone. Settle I figured would be leaving but guy still had talent just to many guys on the dline already. Offense was much better with McKissic. Good runner/receiver who seemed to open things up. Will see the final team as I know we're getting started, but all these guys did bring some value to us.
|
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
I didn't say they didn't bring value, just that their signing elsewhere isn't a detriment to this team. They can be replaced. If you asked me 10 days ago if I'd rather have a legit starting QB, or retain Settle, Scherff, Collins, and Mckissic - it's a no brainer. Give me the QB.
We're about 24 hours into free agency. There is plenty that can and will be done before it's over. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Washington so far has lost:
- Brandon Scherff - Tim Settle - JD McKissic |
