Depends on how you classify harmless. I dont't think it would physically harm Pittman, but damn it sure is degrading and 100% disrespectful.

I tend to agree. I don't care about social standards and all that stupid crap about how getting spit on hurts your feelings and hurts your pride. One act does bodily harm, the other is merely disrespectful.

I know one thing. If Sean Taylor stood before me, in a game or otherwise, and gave me a choice of being spat on or getting whacked under my facemask, I'll take the loog thanks.

i think i would rather get hit in the head while wearing a helmet then get spit on

sean taylor was trying to get away with spitting in someones face, but he got caught...then pittman hit him on the top of his helmet

Let me ask you this, if ST was white, and he called pittman a N...(yeah that word) and pittman punched him back. would it still be harmless? by what you are saying it causes no physical harm so no big deal right?

Thats an extreme example, but I agree. Spitting is a very low, and demeaning thing to do. Violence is bad too and it should not be tolerated as well. Spitting on someone, is like a low-blow in boxing or karate, it is just dirty. Can we please take a poll on this and put this to an END?!!??..PLEASE. We have spent this entire week talking about all this, and I am getting sick and tired of it. So if an Admin can take a poll, "What is worst, spitting or physical violence" that would be awesome, and put an end to this debate.

what marcus vick did ( stomping on the back of a players knee ) was truly bad and very disrespectful. spitting in someones face is disgusting but not really a big deal as far as i'm concerned. i think players get spit on more than the nfl wants us to believe, brian mitchell said that he had been spit in the face on more than one occation when he played.

It's like taking a shot at someone's mother, although I would rank spitting with any other cheap shot, but there can be differences between a cheap shot, and a personel foul. To me a cheap shot is just like spitting in the face, and let's face it there's no room any where for either.
