Once again...have you watched a single Redskins game this year?
have you?

how comfortable do you feel getting called out for not knowing the team you call your own?

you are a pessimist and look for the worst thing in everything....portis is in the prime of his career and you are letting a losing season get in the way of the truth

there are teams around the league that would love to have a quality back like clinton portis......but you're probably right.....portis is washed up at 27 years old and nearly 10000 career rushing yards
i think somebody said the same thing about kurt warner

somebody said somethin similar about bill belichick when he got kicked out of cleveland

probably said the same thing about brett favre

yea.....theres never been anybody in the league to bounce back after a down year....especially not anybody older than 27
QB is totally different position, one in which you dont
take nearly the physical punishment. Plus you don't hear about Warner or Farve missing practice or refusing to play in the preseason.

Belichick is a coach, how does that even compare?

Still haven't answer the question....I question whether or not you have even seen him play this year.

But yes, I have watched every game/carry/yard of CP's career in DC

I am far from a pessimist....I see the good that Betts could do for the team if the organization stops cow towing to CP because he has a bloated contract.

he is 28 by the way, with a ton of injuries piling up, thats far from "in his prime" by NFL running back standards.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!

canton legend - running backs endure alot of wear and tear. of course portis was a great top 5 back for awhile in this league and was by far our best offensive player for years. we know that.

but portis has over 2,000 carries now, injuries are stacking up, bone spurs dont just go away to my kowledge, and he rarely practices for years now.

when turner hits 2,000 carries i doubt he will be just as explosive as he is now. at 300 plus carries a year, turner will need more than 4 straight seasons of 300 plus carries before he is near portis' current wear and tear of 2,100 somethin carries.

lol, in 4 - 6 years do you think turner will still be a top 5 or 10 runningback in this league? add in turner will probably not even finish at least one of those years b/c of season ending injury.

I'll answer that for RacistLegend, since he won't...

Other than the Giants game and the Philly game, the Skins and Saints have played pretty much at the same times this year. So if RacistLegend has been watching his beloved Saints, he has not seen the Redskins.

Therefore all of his arguments about Portis are a matter of talking out of his ass because he hasn't seen the games that we have.

lol in 8 years betts has had more than his fair share of chances

betts has averaged 4.1 yards per carry over his career of 8 years....but nearly every average goes down over a longer sample size....thats just how things work.......so why is portis still averaging 4.5 yards per carry after carrying the ball nearly 1400 more times?

because he is better

betts is at the age in which people start to think running backs go downhill......portis is at his prime and is capable of carrying your team.....but he cant do that when hes only getting 15 carries per game

Serious question. Are you related to Portis?

for some reason i have to answer this question? of course......why would i be on a redskins forum, talking redskins football without at least adequate information to back up my statements?

im not sure what you are trying to get at......you are saying that michael turner wont be as good as portis or you are saying that he isnt as good now as portis was then?

im not sure what you're trying to say

i know one thing....there arent many backs in the league that are asked to carry their teams anymore......portis is one of the very few and hes one of the very few that is actually capable of doing it on a consistant basis

as for the other post....i wasnt trying to call anyone out....just trying to point out how stupid asking someone if they've seen a game actually is
Serious question. Are you related to Portis?
nope......seen my fair share of unreasonable hating on players

ive done my fair share of bashing players without a good reason.....ive been in the trenches begging teams to get rid of players because they are washed up.....usually its a symptom of a losing season.....and im big enough to admit that

the saints are very good at losing and the fans are very good at callin out players.....but they are also very good at supporting the team

most saints fans are big enough to stand up and admit that losing brings out the worst in people......unfortunately you guys arent......and i completely understand....the redskins have a rich, proud history and losing is fairly new....but get over it.....you guys will rebound and portis will carry you guys once again

thank god the coach doesnt listen to the fans.......oh wait

The only time Betts had a legit opportunity to be the feature back he ripped off 5 straight 100 yard games.

But this thread isn't about Betts, its about Portis...

I just don't see how you are drawing the conclusion that Portis can "carry the team" what has he shown this year to prove that? On the best run of his career he couldn't even score with one man to beat and a blocker in front. Name on other top 5 back that does that?

how about rather than blaming that on portis, giving the credit to the defender.....thats where you are a pessimist......its portis' fault because he didnt score on a GREAT RUN......be happy he put your team in a position to score.....dont hate him because the blocker couldnt block or the defender made a fantastic play

He's arguing that based on past stats. He hasn't seen the games this year.
