Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
I am not sure why Jamal Brown gets bashed so much. He is a good RT, when healthy. I he can recover from the hip surgery, he still can have two or three years playing at a high level. I think we have more depth on the Oline, than we have had in ten years. Our back ups are Tyler Polumbus(26), Willie Smith(24), and Maurice Hurt(24). All young and still improving. The only time the Oline could not protect the QB was when Eric Cook was in at center(I cant stand him). Brown had no off season therapy last year and is now two years removed from the surgery. I would be happy with them picking a RT, but I don't think it is an emergency. If we had not got screwed with the cap situation we would have signed someone like Eric Winston. That would have been a luxury, it not a necessity. I would rather them pick a linebacker like Mykal Kendricks in third.
The fact of the matter is the Redskins gave the Saints a 3rd rounder for Brown. He has not stayed healthy for a full season since joining the Redskins. If Brown can't stay healthy, then we have to plug in someone else. Polumbus and Willie Smith have impressed. If the Redskins do draft a RT, and I believe we will, then that's more youth in the line-up. Brown is 31 years old and has been proven to not be able to stay healthy. Hell, we should have kept that 3rd round pick from 2010. |

I read that article. I'm all for a healthy Jamaal Brown playing an entire season. But the question is, can he? That hip is probably never going to be fully healed for as long as he's playing football, but he's trying hard to overcome that injury. Yoga and Tai Chi would stabilize the injury and get it to the point where it's not easily aggravated. But if he's loses time in 2012 for this same hip injury, then what? |

Actually, I would not have known anything about him if it wasn't for that Q & A. |
