Mark Bullock Tweet:
Through 1 quarter of Jartavius Martin study, seen him play deep safety, man to man in the slot, man to man vs a TE, motion with a slot before sinking back to a deep half in a T2 invert. He is very versatile. |

Re: NFL Draft Thread
Mmmh... Said by some to be the second best safety in the draft... And he possessed Ron's beloved position flex... But with our obvious needs at OL and LB, I'll admit I have a hard time being enthusiastic about this one... Kinda feel like Ron and Jack still haven't realized what a disaster this LB squad is... and now wondering if they truly understand to what extent this Oline unit needs to improve...

More like legion of gloom... |
Re: NFL Draft Thread
I want Darnell Washington with that 3rd round pick

Re: NFL Draft Thread
I hope our 3rd is Blake Freeland T BYU

He had a high grade. |
Re: NFL Draft Thread
I would move up tomorrow and go after Freeland. Texans have the 2nd and 3rd picks.

Re: NFL Draft Thread
Just woke up and now trying to process this. As with previous years the players look very good, but the position and value are questionable. Not that I care much about the media consensus , but all three of these guys feel like reaches. We are not going to pay all our safeties so while I like Martin as a player, it feels like a waste of a limited resource. Same as our 2nd rounder last year.
Would be interested to hear the response from Ron if the media guys asked "so what is your plan for blocking Jalen Carter?" . Dallas and Philly are going to kill our oline. |

Re: NFL Draft Thread
Another versatile backup Olineman ? I know those are valuable, but does Ron know that adding up decent back ups doesn't equal to a quality starter ?

So you could definitely see Martin, Curl, and Forrest out there together in certain situations.[/quote] True but given the success they have had drafting safeties the last three years was it really better use of a 2nd round pick for another one when the oline is desperate for some quality starters? That is true for last years 2nd rounder. Mathis looks like a good player but it was a luxury pick when other areas are being neglected. I liked the idea of drafting Martin in the third, but we went CB in the 1st so it wasn't necessary. |
