Correction: meant to write that Campbell throws for under 7 yards per pass...

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I'm not down with this potential trade but Denver is just as intense about their team as we are. Denver might even be tougher for a Qb to play cause he's always going to have Elway's shadow lurking over him.
I think it is tough to be in Elway's shadow, but being the QB of the Washington Redskins is a far tougher gig. Given the fact that we're an east coast city and the Redskins are popular enough to trump any other professional and college sports team when it comes to the attention they get. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
If the Redskins are stupid enough to make this trade, then I would offer Campbell and Betts for Cutler straight up or no deal. Danny gets enamored with a player and just throws draft picks around to get him. I just don't see what Cutler has that deserves 2 1st round picks. What the **** has he done that Campbell hasn't?
|
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Seriously, he's 17-20 as a starter and he throws a ton of picks...what Franchise QB would that be?
Peyton Manning? |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Peyton Manning?
What's funny is I knew that was coming and I do that to people all the time, but I would say that Peyton probably has the best work ethic in the league. Jay, so far has not showed me that he works hard to be great, but he thinks he is. I dislike him more for his attitude than his play. That and I don't think it's worth giving up what's being rumored for a small upgrade at QB. All that aside, well played, sir. |

That's the asking price, doubt they will get 2 firsts in return though. As far as players being offered, I doubt it would be Betts. More like Carlos Rogers. |

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
A smokescreen is potentially a possiblity being that we're close to the draft.
Could this all be a smoke screen to get teams to think that we're interested in QB with our 13th overall draft pick to find teams to trade up to our 13th overall pick so we can trade down and get additional picks? That would reinstate my faith in the FO if they were doing that. Otherwise those guys are your run of the mill dumbasses. |

No, we need a kicker in return. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
This would be a very risky move. Cutler is not a sure thing. Cutler and the Broncos went 8-8 last year just like we did and they play in the shitty AFC West. Four very win-able game against the Raiders and Chiefs, it is not a surprise Cutler threw for a ton of yards, those defense suck.....and they still went 8-8? How is this guy an improvement
I think it really comes down to what we would have to give up to get him. The #13 pick in this draft? HELL NO! We don't have a 2nd rounder this year and the Broncos will want something right away. Our 1st rounder next year? NO! From reading the articles in all the reliable papers today it appears Daniel Snyder has the fever for Cutler. When Snyder gets that fever he sometime does regrettable things. It is like when I get the fever to buy a great car or house. Sometimes you have to step away from the negotiating table and come to your senses before pulling the trigger on a big deal. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I put little value on Cutler's "Pro Bowl" status. The voting was held before Denver's meltdown in the last month and really, other QBs like Rivers or Pennington were more deserving.
The Pro Bowl doesn't mean a whole lot. Is London Fletcher a bad LB because he's never been voted/chosen for a Pro Bowl? He's been one of the league's best LBers for a decade, but no Pro Bowl honors, which is a joke. Check out Cutler's second-half game log from last season: Jay Cutler - Denver Broncos - Game Log - NFL - Yahoo! Sports 7 INTs and just 6 TDs in the last 6 games, QB rating of 78.15 over those games down the stretch...at least one pick in 13/16 games. That's Pro Bowl material?
I agree the pro bowl is garbage...I just think he's shown a lot of promise at a young age. You can't play with the stats all you want to make Campbell look just as promising but when you watch the games you see that he's just not. If Cutler were not available I would want to see what Campbell could do this year but Cutler being available changes that in my mind. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
There will be other guys available next year.
Funny you say you are tired of being unstable at QB yet you want another QB change. Just sayin'.
Haha..nice one. I think this saga pretty much proves that a change is coming in the next 12 months regardless. I just think if it's Cutler then it could be the last change for a long while. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Cutler: "I really didn't want this!" (WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!)
Cutler: "I really didn't want this" - The Denver Post "I was surprised they decided to trade me this soon," Cutler told FoxSports. "I didn't want to get traded. That wasn't me. They had been going back and forth saying things, wanting me to be their quarterback, and then they didn't. I really didn't want this. I love Denver. I really like my teammates. I didn't want it to get this far." I'm glad the Jets are now considered to be "aggressively" pursuing this baby too. Hopefully they can beat us out for him. Tampa Bay could get him too, as they almost did in the original trade that started this drama. Jets "prepared to enter a bidding war". :) Jets show they are Mile High about Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler Can we actually afford Cutler under the cap? Campbell makes very little for a starting QB. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I changed my mind, since Cutler can obviously play Corner (assuming we trade 'Los), Defensive End, OT, Guard and Center, while platooning at 3rd down back I think we need to make this happen yesterday. Whatever the price is, double it, we're all in!
|
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I said no to Cutler because the cost will be to much and we have two many needs. That's unless they have a good RT,DE and OLB to throw in to the trade! Then I am a yes!

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Now that Denver apparently just want picks, and not necessarily another starting QB, puts other teams like the Jets, Browns, or Bucs ahead of the game I think. If McDaniels doesn't want another QB, why doesn't he get Peppers and a 2nd rounder from Carolina for Cutler? After the dismal performance by Delhomme, Carolina should want to replace him.

However, his crybaby attitude and selfishness are major obstacles to overcome and I do not want a whiny non-team player like him on the Redskins. If he was a "franchise" QB, the Broncos would not have been tempted to trade him for a QB who had one partial season with a Super Bowl team who failed to even make the playoffs under his leadership and who had not previously started a game since HIGH SCHOOL.
that had nothing to do with a new coach who groomed a guy that came in and had a convincing showing or anything |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I think this is exactly the reason why the team needs to give Campbell another year. Gibbs should've thrown Campbell to the fire right away, instead he went with old a$$ Brunell up until the time Brunell was non-functional. Had Gibbs gone with Campbell right away, we would be pass his development time and either would have sent JC packing if things had not worked out or if things would have worked out, he'd be a establish QB.
agreed.. we let a 1st round qb sit for far too long and we would've known his value by now |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
The Jets make sense for Cutler, the Skins don't.
Also true: Cutler makes sense for the Jets, and doesn't make sense for the Skins. Seriously, are they hoping Kellen Clemens or Brad Ratliff can make them winners? The Lions and the Eagles are the two teams with multiple 1st-round picks. They can release or trade McNabb if they give the Broncos a pick. I wouldn't be crazy about Philly getting him, but if it prevents us from making this boneheaded deal, I'm all for it. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
If you knew you did not want to resign Campbell right now--would it not make sense to make this trade for this and next year's first round picks? It would be a net loss of a first round pick the way I see it.
Snyder, Cerrato, and even Zorn knows they do not want to resign Campbell right now. He is in the bottom third of starting QBs when it comes to TDs, 40+ plays, and 20+ plays. He throws for under 6 yards per pass on average. Zorn wants to attack downfield and that is why Snyderatto hired him. Campbell is not explosive enough and this offense needs more explosive weapons. Cutler is better at all those above variables that Zorn and the FO value. So might as well make this trade now--spending two #1's and get your guy in place or wait another year, not resign Campbell, and have to spend next year's #1 on another QB that needs to be groomed. Cutler has been groomed and plays in a system related to our WCO. I know we have other needs but we need to score points in this league. The rules are so stacked now to be pro-offense yet the Skins have been painful to watch on offense for years (not counting the games with Todd Collins). I think Cutler will address that better, despite the cost, than having Campbell/a rookie OL or LB...
If we had Cutler, Brandon Lloyd would've caught that pass and still been a threat with us sorry haha |
If Snyder trades for Cutler, he should blow up the entire team.
Why not? I mean, he's going to pay whatever it takes to get him which will put us behind the eight ball to begin with. Then Cutler will spend his first year here learning a new system, after which Snyder will fire Zorn and bring in Shanahan.
Snyder might as well accept the probability that his team won't win the division for at least several years. He should take this time to rebuild the team around Cutler and Haynesworth, as his offensive and defensive anchors. Then Snyder could pick up some young players and draft picks via trade. He should either initiate or listen to trade offers for any player who is now 30 years old or older. That includes Moss, Samuels, ARE and others. If he needs to throw Cooley into the trade to get Cutler, well, what the hell, the Skins won't be winning for a while anyhow. BTW, from now on, I won't be referring to the ficticious FO or using the terms "we" or "us" when discussing possible personnel moves. There is only Dan Snyder and his immense ego to consider. Please feel free to correct me if I should slip-up and accidently use any of the above discarded terms in any of my future posts. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
The one thing here is that know one wants Campbell and that is the real thing in all this. Most teams have seen what Vinny knowns that Campbell is never going to be the man! If he was other teams would be lined up.
What did Smoot say exactly?
Smoot posted this around page 22:
We've been trying to get a 2nd rounder (damn you Jason Taylor!!) for a while now. I know for sure we've dangled Santana Moss out there, and I'm almost positive we dangled Rogers out there as well. I'm not as down on Cutler as others are, so under the right circumstances, I'm not going to flip a lid if he came here. That said, I still don't think this is where he ultimately ends up (that's just my opinion though). But either way, I don't think Campbell is the future here. I don't agree with it, I think it will be a mistake to let him go. But, as much as Redskins coaches and execs may sing his praises in public, the truth is he has limited support (even from teammates) since even before he got hurt two seasons ago. His biggest supporter is now...the QB coach in Seattle.
Another member here asked him if his sources for this info were reliable and he confirmed.
Never? I'm not even sold on him being a true franchise QB yet. Let's not pencil him into the Hall already. As far as who could be available who knows? Did anyone see Cutler becoming available?
Good point. The fact remains, though, that young pro-bowl QBs rarely become available. Given the number of teams reported to be interested in Cutler, it seems that many of "the people who matter" (owners, GMS, and coaches) all beleive his is a perennial pro-bowl-type QB. Whether he really is that or just another Derek Anderson remains to be seen. |

Denver needs d-line help. Every mock I've seen has them taking a d-lineman or LB. They could trade up and get a QB if they wanted. This deal would actually make sense. |
Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Look on the brightside guy. At least with Cutler we'll have a QB that will be more suited to making our red zone offense work. It's just I don't know who was more responsible for guys like Cooley having 1td catch weather it be Zorns playcalling or Campbells inability to decide.
