Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
I like what we've done but if we don't even attempt to draft a lineman I will be upset.
|
Yeah Riley can't play both ILB positions. You can't expect London to be around too much longer. Rocky hasnt been cutting it.
We've got enough guys to get by for now. Can't rebuild everything in one shot. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Aldricks a great pick
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
So the derby is now (In no particular order)
Kelly - Armstrong - Austin - Hankerson - Paul - SMU Guy - Banks - Galloway |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
They talking about Royster and Robinson. Kiper said our new QB was Beck. Hmm...
FWIW I think that Kiper has a good idea of what goes on in Ashburn. After Vinny left a good portion of his scouts stayed. Plus he's got Smoot or maybe Smoot has Kiper. |
So the derby is now (In no particular order)
Kelly - Armstrong - Austin - Hankerson - Paul - SMU Guy - Banks - Galloway
SMU guy is Aldrick Robinson. Don't forget the Nebraska contingency, WR Niles Paul. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Kiper and McShay BOTH like Royster. Great pass receiver out of the backfield, straight-line runner/ no dancing around.
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Well if were lucky in the 7th round there are still RB's and WR's available to pick from.
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
So the derby is now (In no particular order)
Kelly - Armstrong - Austin - Hankerson - Paul - SMU Guy - Banks - Galloway
Hopefully we will have a QB to throw it to them. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
So the derby is now (In no particular order)
Kelly - Armstrong - Austin - Hankerson - Paul - SMU Guy - Banks - Galloway
Galloway is already gone. I would have to say Kelly is gone also, along with Austin. Banks is on the bubble, unless Paul really sucks. SMU guy is a big ?. I like Austin and Banks, but to me we need physical Wrs with good hands more than pure speed guys. I like Armstrong, but a previous poster told the truth that he really only is good for the long bomb threat or at the very least a 20+ yrd completion. Still that in itself is rather a useful thing in keeping Dbs honest. The FO did right with the Wr picks. Who know, the guy from SMU might be a stud, but he is undersized, and I don't think we need that, unless he is another Santana. |

LOL. McShay and Mort are talkign about Beck on ESPN now. They saying they liked Beck better than any of the QB's in this draft. I think we could still get McElroy if he is available in the 7th round. |

They were talking very good about SMU guy (Aldrick Robinson). A sleeper. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
I think we're seeing Shanahan's philosophy here: load up on the skill positions at running back and wide receiver late in the draft, hoping one of them turns out to be lightning in a bottle.

Sorry this does not compute. And hey 5'9 is tall, or average. but yeah. |

He's not going anywhere, too valuable as a returner. |

I like Royster, too. I like our new backfield. I think Helu and Royster will make a complementary team, especially with Torain. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Ok I guess I understand the WR picks. but my magazine has a ton of WR's way ahead of Aldrick Robinson.
Terrence Toliver Darvin Adams Terrance Turner Armon Binns DeAndre Brown WTF? I guess the coaching staff is happy with our OL. OFW.
Are you serious? Your magazine says that the Redskins made a mistake in drafting this guy? I think I'll go with Shanny & Co. over your magazine. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Aldricks a great pick
I have to admit, the kids' highlight reel is pretty sick. I like him. |

Makes sense. Beck was accurate, good intangibles, just needed time to develop. He's young in the senese that he won't be dead for another 40 or 50 years. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
For everyone drooling for a center, Ryan Bartholomew from Syracuse is still hanging around on Kiper's "Best Available" list.
|

John Beck...The QB nobody talks about until today. |

They will make many threads on him from this point forward. |

Yeah but we don't pick again until 213 unless we trade up. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
ACC defensive player of the year? That must be an easy award to win.
|

Yeah! I think the coach likes him and that's all that matters. |
They were talking very good about SMU guy (Aldrick Robinson). A sleeper.
I am glad about that. I don't have anything against undersized, speedy guys per say, but our current crop of these types suck badly, with the exception of AA. I say the FO could clear out every WR on the old roster sans Santana and AA. Very nice draft thus far. The only draft in a long time where you can understand the thinking behind the picks. Royster was a surprise for me, but it is a depth pick for the most part. Royster can unseat Torain and send him packing. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
As far as LB's go , Herzlich of BC is still around , I would love to give that kid a shot in Burgandy and Gold Mark Herzlich 'couldn't accept' that cancer would end career - USATODAY.com .

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
McShay just said we just probably got the best sleeper in the draft.
I may be O-Ding on highlight reels, but I like ALL of the WRs we drafted. Mr. Hanky, Niles Paul and this Aldrick Robinson cat. All of these dudes look like they could contribute to our squad. IMO our offense was HORRIBLE. I wouldve liked to had pick some Olinemen, but I guess the Shannys didnt like any. And maybe they will address the interior line through FA, but we needed some more depth at the WR and RB position. No more 48 year old WRs starting for us. |

Shoot we passed up some huge linemen to get those last Wrs. |

Man that Pat Delvin guy must suck.

I think I'll go with Shanny & Co. over your magazine.
Umm no I didn't say that. I said the magazine has the other WR's listed higher on the chart. Robinson was in the "Best of the Rest" catagory. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
This is why I hate the Redskins drafting; We do so well getting a couple of our needs in the first couple of rounds, then we go out and draft positions we don't need, like Safety or we overdraft a position like WR. We got Hankerson who'll do great, then we got Paul and I was like ok whatever, now we're done drafting WR's (too bad we didn't get my guy Jeff Mahael of Oregon) then we go and get this Robinson WR from SMU?!?!?!?!? Why Redskins? WHY???
We could have drafted a position of need like a guard or center or tackle or NT JERRELL POWE !!!! Why is he still on the board?!?!?! We NEED a NT! I swear to god if we draft another TE or S .... |

Dirt, I like McElroy, but how could the kid fall so badly in a rather average QB class? I mean the kid from Nevada got drafted before him, and Nevada is runs the Pistol. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
All these draft pundits lover this SMU kid.

Believe me. He's worth a 7th round pick, unless he's wanted for a major crime. |

Well the Nevada kid was in the same ballpark as Newton in terms of physical tools. A good comparison for McElroy might be Fitzpatrick. Both were smart, productive QB's that were overlooked on draft day. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Looks like McElroy is gone.
Edit: Maybe not. Just a wrong number on national TV. LOL |
