I know this is a preseason game, but Ive rarely seen a gameday thread where the adjective "beautiful " was frequently used to describe plays.
Gotta hope this is a good sign for this season. |

Gruden once again lol. I like this MNF booth though, they all complement each other. And Terrance Austin. GIVE THE MAN A SPOT! |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Austin looked very good there, albeit against the 2nd string. Still, very positive.
Well, Austin is still a second stringer himself. ;) |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Good TEAM effort. HTTR.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Remember back when we barely breaking 20 pts per game? Hopefully those days are long gone.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
T.Austin once again looking good. I don't see how we don't give him a roster spot.
Roster spot? He needs to be starting!!! |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Also have to mention: 12 plays, 97 yards, I know it's Beck and 2nd teamers vs. Ravens 2nd teamers, but he definitely rebounded from the pick. Especially considering Helu only did so much on the drive.

And Terrance Austin. GIVE THE MAN A SPOT!
Well, they've done a fine job debunking the "weak arm" myth about Beck. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Terrence Austin is a top three receiver on any team. So is Armstrong.
|
I woukdnt be opposed to this 2 series each qb during reg season
Also I would think it would make it harder on defenses --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=29.940976,-95.636110 - Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Austin is on the team.
Beck should win the starting job. |

Ideally, one or both of the two touchable oldies gets cut. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Gruden swears Beck is the next elway
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
There is going to be some SERIOUS competition for PT at the WR position...
Moss - Gaffney - Armstrong - Austin - Hankerson - Stallworth?? |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Bye bye Stallworth. Moss, Gaffney, Armstrong, Austin, Hank, & Paul.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Roster spot? He needs to be starting!!!
I wouldn't go that far, but he's definitely deserving of a spot. Good depth for sure. |

Pssst! Hey Chucky, that was Beck going against the Ravens back ups. :)
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Depth is still a huge issue, that last TD by the Ravens was too easy. I know it was 1 vs. 2 but I still want to see something to hang the hat on.
Austin does look good, should have a spot. I think Grossman should be the starter. If you are trying to win now you should go w/ the guy that has the most experience. If we start off 2 and 4 or something then switch over to Beck and see if he can be the starter for a year and a half/groomer for the next young qb we draft.
Yeah but when you throw 12 guys into a game with a bunch of players (who have been to the playoffs the last 3 years) all warmed up, wanting to get some good work in before they get to sit, that is what can happen. Don't read to much into that drive. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
QB competition Beck on. LOL
I don't think so. He looked mediocre against the starting D then looks great against the backups. Unless Rex really puts up one dog of a performance the last game, he is the starter. You need someone that is consistent, steady. I do admit that Beck shows great potential, but if we do resign Rex and draft say a Kellen Moore, I still say Beck is back at QB #3. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Wow. Nice catch.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Damn, who's #29? Good effort but bad timing there.
|

Yeah but Beck brings so much more to the table athletically, that's all he's talking about. I agree with Gruden, I think Beck starts 9/11 |

Agreed. Beck's arm seems pretty strong to me. |
Beck looked good but it was the backups
Rex was impressive in 2 min drill getting a td against the vaulted ravens starting def, it's not the same as what beck just did --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=29.941355,-95.636263 - Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Have you watched all 3 of the pre-season games. |

Well, this is his first time going against second stringers, and with some offensive players who are technically second stringers. Not to mention that he had a rather small sample size. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Damn, who's #29? Good effort but bad timing there.
Mustard-boy Gomes. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Ideally, one or both of the two touchable oldies gets cut.
Well, Stallworth's a given, but you do the math.
It's really not a bad thing to have four receivers who can all be in your top three...but then when you consider that they're all blocking Hankerson, a guy we actually need to play well, then you can see the problem. |

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
That was a nice throw by Tyrod Taylor and great catch by the Ravens guy there. I thought #29 (was that Gomes? Not sure who that is) had the pick for a second, but apparently not.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
# 24 and # 29.... are on the bubble. those guys are playing poorly.
|

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Also, accuracy should hold regardless of the competition, and Beck has shown pretty good accuracy on short and intermediate routes.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
BTW where is buchanon?
Is he with the team practicing? |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Remember Grossman has looked good against the Ravens and the Steelers.
That's pretty nuts. Case closed. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Perry Riley hasn't impressed me today. ILB is definitely an issue after Fletcher and Fox, who appears to be Fletcher insurance.
Lofa? |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
As far as evaluating Beck, it's like Gruden said. He's going to be evaluated on all his game reps and practice reps, so that drive against 2nd teamers is only going to factor in the equation so much. I'm leaning towards Beck because as has been mentioned, athletically he offers more than Grossman. I do feel more comfortable knowing we will have a good backup either way though.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Well Grossman needs to come in and shred the 2nd stringers then.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Isnt barnes #24? he isnt on the bubble he has a roster spot for sure
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
BTW where is buchanon?
Is he with the team practicing?
He's suspended for the first four games of the season, as I think you know. He could play in preseason games. But Shanahan and Haslett decided he wouldn't because they want the D to prepare for the first four weeks of the season without him |
