Good stuff.

We should play the Panthers every week. We have no safeties, they have no receivers. Good matchup.

tracy porter's contract (in case it hasn't been posted):

$2mill SB, 6.6mill, 2 year

year 1: 1.25m base, 550k misc bonuses (ltbe and weekly active/healthy), 1m pro-rated bonus = 2.8m hit

year 2: 2.25m base, 550k misc bonuses (ltbe and weekly active/healthy), 1m pro-rated bonus = 3.8m hit

good contract for the skins. he can basically be cut at any time and cost us almost nothing.

Good timing to post that picture...Cam is having ankle surgery and will miss 4 months. He'll come back to all new receivers.

Might be a rough start for him this season.

I don't know why he waited so long to have this done, since the injury happened in the playoffs.

Unless he renegotiates his deal, that's a third rounder AND $10.25 mil in salary this year and it goes up next year. He's never been one to take LESS money so good luck with getting him to sign off on that now.

He did have a monster year. If there is a team out there that thinks he will put them over the top in terms of a championship they will pay. I hope it is someone from the AFC. Wouldnt mind him not being on the field next year when we play the birds.

Proposed rule changes per PFT:
Rule change proposals:

1. Move the kickoff to the 40-yard line.

2. Expand instant replay to include personal foul penalties.

3. Eliminate overtime in the preseason.

4. Extend the goal posts an additional five feet above the cross bar.

5. Move the line of scrimmage for one-point extra point kicks to the defensive team’s 25-yard line. Two-point conversion attempts would still be snapped from the 2-yard line.

6. Put six cameras on all boundary lines — sideline, goal line, end line, to guarantee coverage for replay reviews.

7. Permit a coach to challenge any official’s decision, except scoring plays which are automatically reviewed.

8. Protect players from getting the sides of their legs rolled up on — the rule already says a blocker can’t hit an opponent in the back of the legs, this proposal will add “or side” to the rule.

9. Allow the referee to consult with members of the NFL officiating department during replay reviews. The referee would be able to speak with the command center in New York to help in reviewing a play.

10. Making the recovery of a loose ball in the field of play reviewable. (This is referred to as the NaVorro Bowman rule, after a controversial call in the NFC Championship Game.)

11. Don’t stop the clock on a sack.

12. Modify pass interference so that it can be called within one yard of the line of scrimmage.

13. Enforce defensive fouls behind the line of scrimmage from the previous spot, rather than from the end of the run or from the spot of the foul.

Bylaw proposals:

1. Raise the number of active players on game day from 46 to 49 for regular-season games played on a day other than Sunday or Monday, excluding Week One.

2. Raise the practice squad limit from eight players to 10 players.

3. Permit clubs to trade players prior to the start of the league year.

4. Eliminate the cut-down to 75 players during training camp and instead just have one cut-down from 90 players to 53 players.

5. Permit more than one player to return to the active list from injured reserve so that any player on injured reserve could return after six weeks.

6. Permit each club to time and test up to 10 draft-eligible players at its facility, and allow any club that wishes to attend timing and testing at another team’s facility.

7. Adjust the time of the roster reduction from 53 after the fourth preseason game from 6 p.m. Eastern to 4 p.m. Eastern. All teams would have to have their list of final cuts in by 4 p.m.

Resolution proposal:

1. Permit a home team with a retractable roof to open or close its roof at halftime, instead of having to determine at the start of the game whether it is open or closed.

Most of those rule changes suck, but a couple are common sense like the personal foul review, the roll up leg ban, every official action reviewable, and the cameras on the lines . The bylaws I could care less about except the trading prior to the year beginning. I think a team should be able to trade anyone whenever they want.

Seriously, if all the officials phone in to some headquarters for assistance on a call, why the hell are the guys on the field (zebras) even paid? Just have a fukkin computer call the game then............

Honestly if it's anything like the NHL where all calls get reviewed in the war room in Toronto I'm down for it. If a call is reviewed it gets sent to the war room, where they have HDTV's and pretty much every available camera angle on site. The difference in the amount of time it takes to review the call is minimal too. It might even save the NFL some time, which as we all know is critical to the NFL experience. Way too often do we see a ref go under the hood and then take eternity to come back out.

As for the rest of the changes, they all look good to me, except for the 40 yard line kickoff idea (seriously, the kickoff will eventually be eliminated at this rate) and the PAT attempt change. I really like the cameras rule though, in this day and age the NFL shouldn't have any excuse for not getting a review right, much less "we didn't have the proper angle."

Why would they kick the ball off from the 40? So stupid. Just put the ball on the 20 and eliminate kickoffs all together. That one really makes no sense what so ever.

Also pass interference needs to be a 15 yard penalty, like college. The spot foul just makes it like a video game. The NFL can learn a lot from college.

The games are already too long. If they allow coaches to basically challenge everything then the games will be 5 hours long.

Well, while I agree a kickoff from the 40 yard line is silly, without kickoffs there is no possibility for on-sides kicks. In many games, eliminating kick offs would significantly change the dynamic of the end game.

DeSean Jackson mess getting messier.

A few days ago:
A source close to DeSean Jackson tells the Philadelphia Daily News that D-Jax wants to finish his career with the Eagles, and would be "really hurt" if he were traded for "no reason."
I wouldn't want him after that if he's going to be pouting about getting ditched by Philly.

Yesterday:
Coach Chip Kelly has reportedly called DeSean Jackson and told him not to worry about the intensifying trade rumors.

This whole mess started right after the Eagles' playoff loss to the Saints, when Jackson suggested that he deserves a new contract just one year after inking a $47 million deal. Then came reports that the diva is not a fit in the locker room or Kelly's scheme, and then came free-agent deals for Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin. Still, Kelly loves playmakers, the Eagles have plenty of cap room and Cooper/Maclin would be a well below average starting duo. We'd be surprised if a trade went down.
Today:
One person close to DeSean Jackson told the Allentown Morning Call that there's "no way" Jackson will return to the Eagles in 2014.

There have been so many conflicting reports on the Eagles' feelings about D-Jax that it's hard to know what to believe. "There is no way he's an Eagle this year," the person close to Jackson said. "However it leaked out, it leaked out, and now this is what you have." Eagles beat writer Nick Fierro predicts "Jackson is out of here for sure, and long before the NFL draft too." Appearing on Sirius XM Radio Thursday morning, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio told host Ross Tucker that "DeSean Jackson's act is wearing thin with Chip Kelly."
I personally think they need to look at intensifying the penalty for offensive pass interference since defensive pass interference is a spot foul and can completely change field position. I'd like to see it be a loss of down at the least as well as a 15 yard penalty. That or make defensive pass interference be like it is in college.

I disagree with your second paragraph; a 15 yard defensive PI penalty is a bad idea. One example why: Garcon is 50 yards out, running a deep route. Brandon Carr is trying futilely to cover, but is too far behind to play the ball. So he dives at Garcon and tackles him before Garcon has a chance to haul in the pass. Carr, in this hypothetical situation, would be doing the right thing for his team, since the 15 yard defensive PI penalty would be better than the 50 yard completion. Whereas how defensive PI is penalized now, that wouldn't happen, since the ball is placed where the infraction happens.
