I think we need to hold the brakes on calling KC a franchise QB. And I like KC, but he has a long way to go. I like what he's done so far this pre season. He's really running the offense well. But I want to see how he responds after a few bad plays.
I'm getting to the point where the organization needs to move on from the Griffin circus. It's just not worth it anymore. It seems like an on going saga with him and a clean break for both sides might be what's needed.
The only reason it is a circus is they awarded RGIII the starters job in February with out a true training camp competition. The right thing of awarding it in week 3 or 4 of preseason after giving both RGIII and KC a look with starters and determining who is playing better. Instead we are forced a square peg in a round whole and it is obvious to everyone. The lack of a true competition and letting the better player earn the position is creating dysfunctional situation. |
Re: Robert Griffin III ready to turn career around with Redskins in 2015
LOL dude. You're constantly bitching about everything Griffin says and does off the field. When are you going to figure out that this stuff doesn't matter? Because it doesn't. Simple as that. The media takes everything he says and twists it and puts it in the worst light possible. Players around the league say plenty of stuff that should be considered far worse than what he says, but for obvious reasons Griffin gets a far bigger reaction and more clicks. Repeat after me, this stuff doesn't matter. His teammates and coaches know who he is as a person, they don't give a sh*t how the media portrays him. The football side of Griffin is all you should be concerned about.
Speaking of that, I just watched the Detroit game for the first time and am mystified why everyone is sh*tting on Griffin. He was absolutely not as bad as what everyone said. Taking his full body of preseason work into account, I think he definitely looks better than last year, but of course you can't really tell that until the regular season. Also, another thing that's been bugging me is why everyone acts like Cousins is so much better than Griffin. Have you all forgot 2012 and 2013? Last year was the first time you could say Cousins had play equal to Griffin's, and half his games were destroyed by interceptions. Cousins looks good at times, and if we end up letting Griffin go I hope we hang onto Cousins, but the negative overreaction to Griffin's game has led to an overreaction of positivity towards Cousins' game.
To all the posters that keep reminding us of Kirk's play last yr must have forgotten what RG3' play was. This was posted a couple days ago "You can argue that the preseason is too small a sample size to draw any conclusions, and that Griffin is playing against better defensive players than Cousins and McCoy are. But Griffin’s sub-par performance goes beyond just this year’s preseason. Last year Griffin started seven games, Cousins started five and McCoy started four. Washington wasn’t a particularly good team no matter who was starting, but according to ESPN’s QBR system, which combines both statistics and film study into one number on a 0-100 scale, Griffin was easily the worst of the three. McCoy had a 46.9 QBR, Cousins had a 46.5 QBR and Griffin had a 33.5 QBR. The Football Outsiders DVOA system, which uses play-by-play data to assess quarterbacks, similarly had Griffin as by far the worst of Washington’s three quarterbacks." So Griff was by far the worst,so please please quit bringing up how bad Kirk played, the guys had 8 or 9 starts. We're not saying{or at least most of us}is gonna be a franchise qb,but he hasnt been given much of a chance yet and he's better than Griff. As far as the last game,it's not an over reaction, its a 2yr cumulation of the same old shit |

I totally agree with you. As far as I'm concern Robert nor Kirk has done anything to solidify themselves as the starter. That is why it should have been an open competion. The offense runs smoother with Kirk. If we want a true culture change we need to start putting the team needs in front of one player. And giving Robert the starting job with any completion isn't putting the team and the organization first. |
Re: Robert Griffin III ready to turn career around with Redskins in 2015
I just saw this quote: "According to Jason Reid of ESPN, Griffin sidestepping his own responsibility for making the line look worse than it played is exactly the kind of thing that causes him problems in the locker room. Reid wrote on Twitter after Griffin’s press conference that coaches say “several” offensive linemen dislike Griffin."
Three reactions. One, if accurate, it is deeply troubling and undermines what hope I have of RGIII getting things back on track. I hope it isn't true. Two, if coaches are sharing that with the media, they should be fired. You can't do that as it makes for a toxic environment. Three, it shows how insane the media has been - anonymous sources with incendiary quotes. Honestly, when I see crap like that, I wonder how anyone operating under that kind of scrutiny can be expected to be successful. Oh, and I am reminded that anonymity is the height of cowardice. I hope RGIII shines and then tells Reid to F off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Exactly! As you mentioned, it does seems that the offensive line is blocking for RG3, or at least trying. The video GIFs in the linked article, however, seems to make it clear that the offensive line is not a big fan of RG3. Personally, I played offensive line in high school. When I played, the senior quarterback on our team, was a 'team guy' and a natural leader, and everyone loved him. The junior quarterback, however, was a selfish jerk, and he was not well liked. I can tell you that the offensive line blocked for both quarterbacks, however just like in the GIFs, anytime the junior quarterback got knocked down, no one bothered to help him up. So, as you said, the GIFs of RG3 no being helped up by the offensive line is very telling. Sent from my NS-P16AT10 using Tapatalk |

Obviously the oline is going to try and do their job. Their jobs are on the line. Maybe they arent helping him up because they are afraid they are going to break something.

Yes sir. I think before winning can happen here again on a regular basis, the full culture change needs to happen. We got half of it, a real GM...Finally! Now we need Snyder to stop getting involved in the on field decisions. Let the coaches and GM handle that. This RGIII situation of insisting he be the starter reminds of another similar redskins situation handled better in 1981 and that is Mark May. Mark Mark our 1981 first round pick, #20 overall and Outland trophy winning, consensus 1st team All American can't miss guy. In camp Bugel and Gibbs notice he was a great run blocker but could not handle NFL speed rushers and was not looking good. So they benched him. But at the same time undrafted Free agents Joe Jacoby and Jeff Bostic get the start as well as 3rd rounder Russ Grimm and 11th round draft pick George Stark. Mark May did not earn a starting position until 1982 and that was at guard. To cover up his deficiency of pass protection on the outside that he later overcame. JKC never got involved and the rest is history. I think with Snyder and others insisting on starting a guy with out a competition in camp deflated the entire lockeroom. Even if hypothetically you start KC now because he is more prepared for a Pro system then later switch to RGIII once he learns, like Mark May did, that would be fine. |

So did that hit give him a concussion?
"I have no idea," Griffin said. "I just know I was in some pain, and the trainers came out, and that was it." Griffin then insinuated that he could've stayed in the game. "That's the coach's decision," Griffin said on why he was pulled from the game. "As we like to say, 'I just work here, man.'" http://sports.yahoo.com/news/rg3-cleared-play-several-o-192656140--spt.html I had no problem with RG3s "i feel like im the best QB in the league" comment. I actually want him to feel that way. i also had no problem with his dad putting his arms up and pretending to be a rusher w RG3 after practice one day. but this "as we like to say, i just work here" comment just annoys the shit out of me. its like he just wants to walk right up to the line of taking passive-aggressive comments at (i assume) gruden. stop being a petulant little bitch mr. griffin. you shit stinks pretty bad. the "they want me to be ordinary" comment as well. if i was gruden i would be banging my head into a brick wall. this dude just doesnt seem to get it. comes off as uncoachable, unwilling to truly embrace what he needs to embrace. like desean said, "you cant do epic shit with basic people". your a basic person RG3 and your becoming whiny to boot. i thought his motto this offseason was "speak less, do more" or something. |

I did a quick search on youtube for Aaron Rodgers getting sacked, and every one I found had his teammates quickly coming over to help him up.I stopped looking after finding 4 of them. |
Re: Robert Griffin III ready to turn career around with Redskins in 2015
I believe Cousins will be starter by week 3. Just my gut feeling. He seems more confident and IMO it's just not going to work out with Griffin in dc.
Seems like they want cousins to earn it. Believe he's the QB2 this week. So obviously they liked what he did last week and this will be a good challenge since it's the dress rehearsal game. I see kirk being the starter for the majority of this season. Just my 2 cents |
Re: Robert Griffin III ready to turn career around with Redskins in 2015
Maybe they should let some air out of the footballs and maybe some air out of Roberts head also at redskins park!

With the whole "RG3 not knowing if he even had a concussion" story out this week, and now this...
Robert Griffin III won't play for Washington Redskins on Saturday night I truly believe the organization has moved on from Griffin. This "independent" doctor found conclusive evidence to hold him out? It just seems like the Redskins are trying to hold RG3 out with an "Injury" instead of clearly stating, "We want to see how cousins does with the first team offense because he's our starter this year." Sadly, if this IS the case, I have more optimism for the season than before. |
Griffin out game 3
The virtual end of the RG III era. I think they have made the decision already to get rid of him. They can't risk him getting hurt or they are out a cool $16 million, which someone said is like a tenth of their cap for next season. Not sure about the cap issue, but $16 million can bring in much needed talent. They will hint around for trade offers, maybe someone will take a gamble with him, although at this point I doubt it. |

I think they are also going to put out feelers for any type of trade they can get for him, even if it is only a 4th or 5th round pick. Maybe, just maybe someone will have that gambling itch. Someone that might think they can work him into there offensive scheme better, although I can't really think of anybody that would want him. He is damaged goods. All of this talk about the offensive linemen not liking him and dogging it against the Lions isn't a good selling point. |

So no one thinks that this actually might have something to do with the hits he took v. Detroit? Honestly, when he came out of the game (and even beforehand), he looked a bit like a zombie.
Wow -- the conspiracy theorists with Oliver Stone-like tendencies to think that this is a grand plan to ease him out the door! I am not saying that it's impossible, but the more straightforward explanation -- that he really has some symptoms of being concussed -- seems the simpler and more reasonable one to me. |

For all we know, it was a close call earlier in the week and he woke up with a headache, causing the doctors to re-assess. I am also interested to see what Cousins can do. If he looks strong against the 1s, I wonder what the heck Gruden will do. If he struggles, then Gruden's decision to name RGIII the starter will likely be second-guessed a bit less. What a mess -- AND IT'S STILL AUGUST! Honestly, this team kills me. |

The brain doc should have never cleared him in the first place if he wasn't sure. And if Gruden wants to bench Griffin just man up and put your big boy pants on.
