You'd think after getting blitzed, oh say, 3 or 4 times, someone would go "hey, we better call a formation where we can have an extra blocker or two back by the QB" or "hey, maybe I should call this 3 step drop instead of a 5-7 step drop". I don't want to believe Gruden (or whoever is really calling the plays) is truly this painfully stupid, but I mean hey, if the shoe fits...
Well we did have two potential scoring drives stopped by the zebras. We had a blocked fg. I feel like we were adjusting after the initial shell shock wore off.

Um after the first couple drives that is what they did. That's why we halved our playbook midway through the 1st quarter.

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread

Should never have come down to that. Three TO's. Two on their side of the field. No TD's out of any of them. No answer for the pressure Dallas brought.

Marinelli just pantsed Gruden and McVay on national TV.
I can live with a monster defensive game affecting our scheme. I can live with a missed fg. I can live with bad calls. I cannot live with what djax did. The fumble is the least of it. He ran 23 YARDS IN THE WRONG DIRECTION! There was time for us to move into fg range and salt the clock away and win it. I really think SM needs to just cut his ass and make a bold statement. If he gets injured again i would not even hesitate to do it.
This will go down in history as the "djax game". Pulling a djax...

WTF.

When did we have a blocked field goal? I missed that

With Jackson, Reed, Crowder, Garcon, and Thompson, we should be begging teams to blitz us. Absolutely begging. Instead we just fold like lawn chairs.

Every formation seemed to either have linemen at TE or everyone packed in together in bunch formation. Zero creativity.

Wasnt our missed fg tipped. I admittedly took my eyes off the game but i thought i heard it was tipped? Either way blocked or missed it should have been points

They didn't even have to half the playbook. How about a hard count? Draw play? A bubble screen?

There's a lot of potential there but if letting Stan Lee be a one man wrecking ball against a line of 6 or 7 blockers, then you've got bigger problems that halving your playbook isn't going to solve.

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread

Injuries to the TE have caught up with us, to some degree. If we had reed, paulson, and paul I think things look pretty different up front. Plus the O-line injuries. Still, gotta make em pay for the blitz and we never did.

Sean Lee is good.

FRPLG 12-08-2015 12:07 AM

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread

Everyone needs to go back and look at the "pressure" that we supposedly couldn't handle. We handled it after the first two drives. The blitzies didn't consistently get home and Cousins got the ball out. But we couldn't run the ball to back it off and open up our game. Running the ball is simply broken for some reason. I think we're really hamstrung at lg and c.

TheMalcolmConnection 12-08-2015 12:07 AM

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread

Agreed. Foster was all over the place. Any other team and this loss is less upsetting. Penalties, shit calls and just random karma left points off the board. This is an old Redskins loss. We're still getting better, but fuck, this one stings. So many things we could have done. Kind of feels like the Patriots/Eagles game.

Yeah ya know what? Almost everyone had us winning 6 games and saying if we showed growth they would be happy? Where is the happy? This team is waaaaay better than last year. Its not even close as a matter of fact. We would kick last years teams ass. Lol. A division crown which is still in our control is just a bonus.

sdskinsfan2001 12-08-2015 12:07 AM

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread

We couldn't beat a 3-8 team at home, qb'd by Matt Cassell, that committed 3 turnovers!!!!

Yep, doesn't get more pathetic than that.

We just never can make consistent progress.

Nothing ever changes.

We clean the sheets and make the bed then shit our boxers the first night.

The only thing I'm happy about this season is that I think Cousins could be a good QB around here for a nice long while.

Otherwise, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

We are just not good and if we made the playoffs it would be a hollow victory because we wouldn't do anything. Honestly losing to the Cowboys upsets me more than if we miss out on the playoffs

I thought I heard several hard counts. Gotta give dallas' d credit, ours too actually. I thought our offense was finding a rhythm but they couldn't get in the endzone. That was bad play calling

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
When Jay Gruden kicked off his first season as head coach, he also served as in-game play-caller. But as the season progressed, he realized that his coaching duties required his attention in other areas as well, and so although he still composed the game plan, the coach tabbed offensive coordinator Sean McVay to handle the task of relaying plays to the quarterbacks. Gruden would select the play, and McVay (who also helped design the weekly game plan) would then radio the play call to the passer.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/football-insider/wp/2015/10/07/heres-how-redskins-coaches-call-plays-on-game-day-and-compose-the-game-plans/

If that's still accurate, then McVay just radios the calls in. Dude's just a figurehead. Gruden does all play selecting.
Seems like it's a combined effort according to The Post. But the buck stops with Gruden since he is the HC.

I swear if we could fix our running game this team would be so different. Anyone have any idea why it doesn't work like at all? Is it really just poor line play?

I think we are a very good team with key injuries that have taken their toll, like TE, C, LB. We are still a better team than last year and have a bright future.

Cousins missed a couple of deep balls by inches. One to Garcon n the other i forget who. I mean inches. Oh well. Ya take the good. Ya take the bad. And there ya have. The facts of life...the facts of life.

Just from some POS like me, it looks like the RBs are missing a lot of holes. It's true LeDouche has bee awful at center, but every time I see them make a cut, it's in the wrong place. Also, the Cowboys tackled like machines today. How many times did we actually break a tackle?

Very good? Pass that Kool-Aid over here. A very good team doesn't get close to losing that game. They turned it over 3 times on the road and we still couldn't score. And they were 3-8.

Well I think he's gotta save face, what is he supposed to say, "Yes, I regret it and I am an imbecile"

Although that would be somewhat true and completely hilarious, I don't blame him either. DJax fumbled the ball not Gruden. We would've been singing Gruden's praises for sticking him back there had DJax not completely lose his f'ing common sense.

Yes for once I would like a coach to admit they actually fucked up. What he should've said was yes I absolutely regret it, he ran 30 yards backwards and then fumbled the ball how can you not regret that shit? That is a stupid fucking question to ask me

Have you taken our injuries into account? Wait till next year, injuries are taking their toll this late in the season, the cowboys were healthy with the exception of Romo. Say we had the same health strength as the cowboys, we would beat them no problem. Cowboys might have been 3-7, but they have a hell of a D as you saw tonight, their problem is no QB.
