If I was President, one of the first things I would do would bring in private, apolitical companies from outside to do massive research within the government that tackled accounting, impact and efficiency. I would task them with different areas of the government to tackle waste.

The government and our tax money support way too many things that governments are not suppose to do. We have too much special interest control our money. Id probably look at that biggest institutions military, interior, state and go after them.

There needs to be more effing accountability with tax money. Id go after entitlement programs hardcore. We have become a welfare state under Obama.

Gonna assume with a 54 bil jump in the military budget they don't think waste is a big priority in the military. Otherwise why push the budget up, when you could do some accounting and eliminate waste?

I'm just gonna go ahead and assume nobody here is affected by any of these programs in any way.

One thing we have to remember, private business have to answer to their shareholders, stakeholders, etc for earnings. Numbers are scrutinized...innovation is ongoing, inefficiencies are examined, etc.

The federal government doesn't answer to anybody...and it's out of fucking control. Why is fairfax, Montgomery, loudon counties all the most wealthiest counties in the country? That fuckin teat.

Trump is all about jobs, but these proposed cuts will cost a lot of federal workers their jobs, many of them veterans too. As we know he's all about taking care of the vets too.

I've actually have volunteered with an org that works with them a couple times. It's impactful. It's funded a lot with The Department of Housing and Urban Development program called Community Development Block Grants. I believe these blocks are given to states to divide among programs as the see fit.

I think they are trying to do away with this type of funding, but not the program. Certain effective programs would be funded by other means. The problem with these blocks are the states aren't using them effectively and waste has developed. I don't want get into the whole poverty pimps type language...but some of that is going on.

Energy assistance
National Endowment for the arts

you will end up finally getting rid of the Nat End for the arts while still subsidizing meals on wheels and energy assistance.

If you only threaten Nat. End for the arts, all the outrage will go against subsidizing the poor starving artists.

Chico ,pretty sure no one is against "fiscal responsibility"and it's not a partisan issue.I am all for being more frugal and better accounting in the federal goverment.
But it can be done without getting rid of programs and putting thousands of Employees out of work.You talk of privet business take a page from their book,becoming efficient does always mean downsizing,it means making your employees more productive. I know it can be done becuase I was part of doing just that and keeping warehouse's open instead of outsourced,we became cost effective!

Just curious, would you be ok if the chief of police drove down to your local drug dealer's house and told him he was under investigation? Because that's what Nunes did for Trump. Regardless of whether you think the investigation is legit, if you even have associates that are involved in illegal activities and you continue to associate with them there's a good chance the police might look in your house too.

Obamacare has already failed. Most Insurance companies have left..premiums have risen...we need to come together and find a system that works. Obamacare didn't, this feeble attempt didn't appear as a viable replacement. Hopefully this spurns some ideas to find something better. But let's be honest, Obamacare was a disaster

^ Medicaid expansion was definitely huge, so was covering pre-existing conditions. Yes premiums and deductibles are an issue, but calling the ACA as a whole a disaster is just absurd. Hopefully this idea of repealing/replacing is truly dead. Move on to re-working it.

There are two main issues with Obamacare. One was the mandate. The second is that it did absolutely nothing to curtail rising healthcare costs.


Obamacare isn't the reason insurance rates are rising. In fact, if you look at premiums, the rates were rising a lot faster (as a percentage) prior to Obamacare. So if anything, Obamacare slowed that down a bit. The only solution to healthcare costs is having a universal healthcare system. Every other civilized country has one. The problem is we have a bunch of greedy assholes that continue to convince their ignorant base that socialized medicine is a bad thing.

Yup. Getting tired of the "we can't do the Canadian system because our population is much bigger" argument. The population is only going to expand from here, at least until global warming trims it 50-100 years down the road (hypothetically). So what if we have a bigger population? Find a solution that works. Somebody will get screwed in the end, if it were up to me it would be these companies that put insane markups on healthcare tech and related products. They need to be regulated. And somebody needs to do something about these companies that buy patents then jack the price up 5000%. Savvy? Yes.
