even in that article on espn back a few years when he was out of football he said he still drank lite beer. I mean you are still drinking if its 4 shots of jack or 10 coors lite you are still drinking. I have never heard of or saw a alcohol program that said moderate use is acceptable for an alcoholic.
The guy is an alcoholic who by his own admission never stopped drinking. I would find it nearly impossible to believe that he's clean and sober.
Not saying it played a significant factor in all of this drama, but talking solely on the issue of whether he's drinking or not, I would find it awfully hard to believe that he's not drinking. Mike Jones just said the other day all he does is watch film AND DRINK. Another WP insider article states that sources say yes he drinks but it's not impacting his work. Dude is drinking.
Fair enough. Maybe the better scenario is: Prove his drinking is detracting from his work. |

Well by definition an alcoholic is someone who lets alcohol control their life and inevitably it will impact their life/work. It's an illness. |

Per @MikeJonesWaPo: Redskins fire GM Scot McCloughan after two seasons |

It was only a matter of time. I sort of get the feeling that Redskin Park is just a terrible place to be employed.

If he really was showing up to work and to games drunk, that's a problem. No defending that. I feel for the guy.

Take it for what it's worth. Vinny Cerrato predicts the end could be near for Bruce Allen.

Vinny is seriously delusional if he thinks right now it's the worst it's ever been in Redskins land.

Seriously...Vinny is such a terrible joke. What I'll never quite understand is why dan hired Vinny back again? Man that was just a terrible move. |

Aye. This is no where near as bad as the End of Zorn or the Ol Ball Coach. |

Sweet, I see the Redskins are following Captain Six-Pack's free agency board despite the fact he was hammered on the job. Why is that? |

One thing that chode knows how to do is ass-kiss like no other. Could this be Vinny's 3 peat? Coming home after being abandoned by his racquetball partner/lover boy. Only time will tell. /I'll apologize in advance for going to the Solidsnake school of rumorography. Normally I'm above this. |

Probably because it wasn't just him that came up with it, probably a lot of input from others in the decision making group went into putting together the plan. So why scrap it this late in the process? |
Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Hope SM falls on his feet somewhere and gets his shit straight. He seems like a good personable guy that has some issues. Redskin Park was obviously not a good atmosphere for him to be in.

i don't think any GM position is a good atmosphere for him to be in . . . too much stress . . . and HE has to realize that an alcoholic cannot drink at all . . .not a beer here or there . . . not at all . . . i hope he does get cleaned up, but until he realizes that he needs help and needs to stop completely he will continue to relapse |

Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Team sports culture in general typically involves alcohol from the players to the coaches to the front office.

Yes. Scott Campbell does a huge amount of the work - that was true when McC was there and it's still true now. It would be wrong to think McC made the board by his lonesome. |

Then, I hope Scott C can help make up for Scott McC's departure. Regardless of how things went down, I feel bad for Scott McC. Anyone that's been fired twice and is still drinking clearly has a HUGE issue with alcohol. That's the definition of an alcoholic, when it affects your work/life. |

Because the guy who put it together was an alcoholic and was letting it affect his job? Otherwise why fire him now, instead of after the draft the way respectable teams do? |

Maybe if he showed up to the nfl combine he would still be employed. |
Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Life goes on, only those involved with the actual firing of Scot McC know what went down and are afraid of any legal implications about saying anything about it. Reality is the guy is gone and to be honest some other guys on NFL.com weren't all that off the mark when they thought Scot was overhyped to begin with. Snyder has had us to the level of Cleveland and Detroit, where any change in the FO is seen as a new era, etc and gives us false hope. Face it, his(Scot's) moves weren't all that great in FA or the 2016 draft. He did some nice things in FA, but some others evened it out. All we can do is what we have done for the past 20+ years and hope for the best. And if not there is a plethora of other ways to spend our Sunday afternoons.
