Reed and Norman have to restructure or one hit the road. Lauvao, Long, Hood, Hall and others will be gone too giving us additional space. Kirk can be fitted.
Norman wont do that and he shouldn't be asked too. He's still a top 10 CB |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I don’t understand the concern over Norman. His cap number was $20M this year and goes down to $17M next year. He’s very durable - the games missed this year due to the broken rib were the first time in his career he has missed more than one game at a time.
Everyone can see our problem on defense is inadequate pass rush and lack of speed at MLB outside of Brown. When Allen went down and we faced the better offenses in the middle of the year, we couldn’t get any push up the middle. Norman belongs on a winning roster. But Mason Foster must be upgraded so we can cover TEs using either MLB, and we must get a speedy edge rusher and one more disruptive interior DL like Allen. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Reed on the other hand has a cap number of $10.5M and needs to be healthy to be worth that cap space. I would agree that the team should talk with him about converting some of his salary to an incentive that will pay out based on number of games played.
Realistically I doubt that works out for the Skins though. He’s so valuable when healthy, I don’t think the team would have the cahones to cut him if he called their bluff. And I think his agent would know it. |

I wouldn’t be either, just talking about him as a player. BUT, several teams would have serious interest and the Chiefs could hold out for a pretty sweet deal in a trade. And given the QB market I don’t think it’s a given he could be had for just $20m per. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I would take Smith too but u have to have a RB for him to be that effective, Kirk doesn't need a RB to ball out

It is all about wins and loses. Russell Wilson carried the Seahawks with team injuries , offensive line issues , no running game. Kirk can not carry a team. If you want to continue seeing other teams play in January, bet on Cousins. He is an average QB, in a system that can’t produce in the red zone . You don’t pay an average QB 27+million. You pay a game changing QB 27+ million ie Russell Wilson , Tom Brady , Drew @ NO, Big Ben. By the way they are in the playoffs. |

Our 2018 QB will be starting for the Rams on Sunday, check him out.
I honestly believe Dan refuses to pay KC top dollar just like he refuses to fix the god damn turf. Prediction: KC is going to walk and the Redskins will send a 2nd round pick(Maybe they totally screw this up and send a 1st) to the Rams for Sean Mannion who has a year in McVays system. Also, KC will sign with AZ after he and Larry Fitzgerald make S'mores and sing happy Jesus songs together. |
How many playoff games did Kirk win?
Kirk is not the answer. Why pay 27 million to a QB who can’t lead his team to victory in the big games? ie Giants last year ie playoff against Green Bay. 4000 yards season. Red Zone efficiency terrible. What wrong with that picture? He is a dink and donk QB . No long ball accuracy. Compare Kirk to Russell Wilson. Compare Kirk to Drew in NO. Compare Kirk to Tom Brady. Compare to Carson Wentz. These are game changing QB’s That is who you pay 27 million. One last thing.Drew team scored 2 touchdown s in 3 mins. and beat the Redskins. Kirk had the same opportunity. Need I say more.
You said it yourself Cuz threw for 4,000 yards the past three seasons and near 30 touchdowns as well. So I guess your right getting a guy who will throw for less yards and touchdowns will be the answer. And I don't even know who Brees' receivers are but I'm sure they're better than the Redskins current batch. And I'm sure his running game is more apparent than the one here. And last time I checked Brees, Brady, Wentz aren't going to be in free agency to grab. And if they were they would cost a whole hail of a lot more than $27 Million or however much Kirk will get paid. Quarterbacks like that don't fall out of trees. They have to be groomed and surrounded with complimentary players. Our signal caller has a makeshift offensive line; no running game; and a suspect defense and is still putting up solid numbers. This is the reasons Was has always missed out on great or at the least QBs and have been one of the worst run franchises in three decades. Let's be real the only reason why Cousins hasn't been resigned is because Snyder just doesn't want him here. He's butt hurt his last project didn't work out and Danny boy has deluded himself into thinking he can find another great quarterback. But hey considering his past track record with picking them (Jeff George; Patrick Ramsey; Jason Campbell; and RG3) we should be OK finding a replacement for the best one we've had in the thirty years of sucktitude we've been mired in.:Flush: |

It's just a theory of mine and I do admit it's a stretch. If I'm McVay, I'm trying to sell Mannion to the Skins for a 1st as a backup plan to the KC ordeal. Bruce might be desperate enough to take it. I think they settle on the Garoppolo price of a 2nd which is fair for a starting QB. For the record, I hope KC stays. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I turned on 106.7 today and Chris Russell is just unloading on Bruce Allen. Calling him a "snake, fraud and a phony." He also said that the minority owners of the Redskins dislike him. Pretty interesting stuff as this probably has something to do w/ the Cousins contract situation.

Silly man, KC doesn't play defense. He should have used his QB ESP and gotten inside Brees' mind convincing him to throw to Redskins. THAT'S how real Franchise QB's win the game! [edit: i missed the more obvious - KC doesn't have thick enough legs to sack the qb] |

My point is Brees drove his team down the field for 2 touchdown s in 3 mins. What did Kirk do when the Redskins got the ball. Kirk can’t win under pressure. He is not a game changing QB. Last 2 victories subpar teams under 500. Should have lost to Zona. 8-8, 9-7 will not get you to the playoffs in the NFC. Let’s say the Redskins sign Kirk. Only 6,teams can make the playoffs. Vikings ,Eagles, Rams, Saints, win the Division next year. Panthers , Green Bay , Falcons, Seahawks, Dallas, are the other 2 playoff contenders. I say Dallas because they whipped the Skins twice this year.8-8 and 9-7 will not make the playoffs next year. Are we looking at another year next year not making the playoffs.YES Please, let move on from Gruden and Kirk Rebuild, current coaching staff can not develop players. Jay is a player coach who do not whole players accountable Jay and coaching staff can’t make in game adjustments. 4 years no running game and 3 defensive coordinators We need 10 plus win seasons in order to make the playoffs. Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Kirk only lead the largest comeback in Redskins history when we were down 24-3 against the Bucs two years ago alright, and since then has had an additional 10 fourth quarter comebacks, not including the Giants game where he scored a td to go ahead with a minute left and our defense gave up a 75 yard td to let the Giants win. Clearly that's not good enough.
S/N this qb went 24/43, 233 yards, 1 td 2 int, with a rating of 59.5 and a qbr of 35, and lost to the mediocre Dolphins of all teams only 2 weeks ago. That qb is also sitting atop the throne as the GOAT. The point is even the GOAT has a bad game once in a while. Acting like one guy can't win a big game is reason not to sign is horseshit given that we field 45 players every game day. We don't need Kirk to win games in spite of the rest of the team, we need to have a complete team with a good qb at the helm. That's what Kirk is, and if you haven't noticed there aren't plenty to go around in the NFL. Stop acting like we need a Brady/Brees/Rodgers to do anything, it's a fucking team sport. |

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Lol at this thread right now tho, for real. While i cant really say one way or the other how i feel about Kirk anymore, I do think that letting him walk could be a miatake for us, but better for him. I do have doubts about his ability under pressure in big games, but he has shown some resilience in the past, too. It seems to be such a double edge sword with Cousins IMO, and thats exactly who he is. My opinion doesnt matter, but i think it still starts at the top. Im more ready to see a new coaching staff than i am a new qb i guess too. If kirk walks i want baker mayfield, and just go from there. Who knows what will happen but i understand both aides of the coin. The pros and the cons. And i cant even bring myself to think of what is best going forward. At all. God bless the FO if they actually worked and did real football operating things. Lol.
