Re: Dwayne Haskins
Here's the tough part, if Alex isn't able to play this week, WE DO NOT HAVE A QB.
This may save Dwayne for he next week or two, but I guarantee this will burn down any hope of him being here beyond this season. If he actually did this, it's completely reckless, immature and is the exact definition of "conduct detrimental to the team". This is putting Coach Ron in the toughest of spots...he needs a QB for a playoff-clinching game but Haskins has earned a ticket out of town, for numerous reasons. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
Is it possible this team will be rolling with Taylor Heinicke, Steven Montez, and Logan Thomas as the QBs for the most important game in several years?
|
Technically this is the second major discipline issue. The first one was Guice and he was cut. Easier to do, but I feel that was the first issue.
Easier to do because of the circumstances but id take guice over dh any day. |

Is Montez healthy/available? I was surprised we signed Heincke from the PS. Gotta go Montez in that situation and get really creative on runs. We could be like Army or Navy and surprise the opponent when we actually throw. :D |

COVID is the real issue . . . but so is the fact that Haskins is partying like he just won the superbowl after getting beat (and possibly knocked out of first place at the time) by the Seahawks with him starting . . . i guess they only lost by 5, so for Haskins that must mean its time to celebrate! what a jackass!! |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
Dude has been immature since day one.
https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/04/26/dwayne-haskins-redskins-first-round-draft-party-marketing-company-brand In hindsight this article seems hilariously fucked up. https://twitter.com/kalynkahler/status/1121548080724238336 Look at him walking the red carpet like the Godfather LMAO. Honestly I can't help but blame his parents too, if you read the article it mentions he's been groomed by his family since he was 9. We wasted this pick. Oh well. I was hoping that working with Alex Smith for 2 years would rub off on Haskins and help him learn what it means to be a pro. 50/50 it happens now, but I'm putting 95% odds he's off the team by April. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
This dude is just not very bright, he literally put the whole team at risk over this. Remember Denver? They had to play a fucking game with a WR at QB! If that would happen to us we would be screwed of the division. I’m sorry but he needs to be gone

Re: Dwayne Haskins
Aren't players and staff who have been in close contact with a player who has potentially exposed to covid not allowed in the facility for a period of time and are tested twice before they can return? That would include Alex Smith wouldn't it? I may be on the wrong trail here, so I'm asking you.

Unless Alex was with him at the party or afterward, I don't see how he would be excluded from the facility at this point. |

Going to a nightclub without PPE is considered “High-Risk COVID-19 Conduct,” punishable by a maximum fine of one week’s salary or up to four-game suspension." Haskins apologized on Tuesday for his actions Sunday night after Washington lost to Seattle. On Monday, photos emerged showing Haskins unmasked at what looked like a party with a group of women. Washington is in a tough spot to potentially lose Haskins as the team has a chance to clinch the NFC East division title this Sunday with a win over the Panthers. Starting quarterback Alex Smith has missed most of the last two games with a calf injury, and behind Haskins are two practice squad QBs in Taylor Heinicke and Steven Montez. It's unclear what will happen next to Haskins. This is his second covid violation this year. After a Week 6 loss in New York, Haskins was fined for booking a hotel room for a family member at the team hotel. The NFL has taken stringent measures to prevent the spread of covid and keep games on track. It's possible the league intervenes in punishment if the team does not. |

What meetings since yesterday? He went to the party last night, unless we know their schedule there's no evidence he shared meetings with Alex. We'll know soon enough because I'm pretty sure they're all wearing trackers that monitor how much time they spend in close proximity to other players. |

True, my bad. My days are blending together right now, I've been home from work with a fractured wrist since November. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
Haskins is just a selfish immature dude. However we can not cut him. Smith can't even escape any kind of rush or pressure and could easily pull his calf again. He is basically playing on half a leg. Gotta keep DH until the end of the season imo. Once the last game is done I'd cut him in the locker room. Just tell him that we'll send you your shit. No need to come in and clean out your locker.

I think so too, but I would give him 10% odds if Ron can't get a guy he likes in the offseason. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
I have no words for DH now. I agree with the earlier comment, no matter when this season ends, cut him there and then. If the league go as far as a suspension, then tell him not to come back (4 games is likely most we can expect to play now anyway). Nobody is going to offer anything in a trade now. :(

Re: Dwayne Haskins
“The league done messed up.”
Going to the strip club AFTER A LOSS!? The QB is supposed to be the leader of the team. Since he was drafted, he hasn’t matured AT ALL on and off the field. If Alex’s calf wasn’t hurt, I think he’d be cut today. He’s gone after the season. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
Give Josh Johnson a call. He did win a game for us in that disaster season. :D
Who has played for Coach Ron and Turner before? Derek Anderson? Hey - I just learned, Heinicke was on the Panthers in 2018. The good news is that if the league forces us into a Broncos situation with no active QB...Logan Thomas might actually be able to handle the job for 1 game. Our offense is based on short passes to the RBs anyways. He might be better than Haskins anyways. :D [YT]xwxGND4dxRM[/YT] |

Even before the strip club incident, no one was going to offer us anything after he stunk it up on Sunday. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
Per JP Finlay:
If both Alex Smith and Dwayne Haskins cant play this week, Taylor Heinicke would be the next Washington QB. Rookie practice squader Steven Montez never even got to play in a preseason game, has ZERO NFL experience. |

After watching the highlight video I just posted, I think I prefer Heinicke to Haskins on football ability anyways!
The comments on that YT video are hilarious. |

Re: Dwayne Haskins
I imagine this will affect Haskins's relationships with some players. Some players will not appreciate the fact that Haskins decided to risk the team's playoffs chance, just to party, especially after a loss.
It's going to be tough for Rivera and the team to hold onto Haskins next year unless Haskins dramatically improve himself in the offseason. |

He had the chance to take the reigns of a much improved team and show that his game had improved, not to mention, having the chance to show true maturity. Instead, he has an awful game, and pulls this crap afterwards. I think if we had a capable backup right now, he'd be gone. It would not surprise me at all, if he's release as soon as the season ends for the team. |

My understanding from the Denver situation was a backup Qb tested positive and they did a close contact search and found all the QBs didnt wear a mask while in close contact = all QBs had to quarantine/fined etc Here ... (1) we dont have a positive test, (2) even so, Alex Smith and everyone else would not be subject to quarantine if they followed protocols i.e. masks |
