Yep I saw the commercial. Danny's intoxication with hype continues unabated.

I am wondering, was the commercial broadcast nationwide or just in the DMV market?

The commercial said fans are like family. With the charges for parking at practice, making public transportation to FedEx very difficult, a leaky stadium, suing octogenarian ticket holders, and putting a crappy product on the field for decades, that’s a bit of a stretch. I just hope with a reset that the overall experience will improve. It’d be nice to have more to cheer about.

I do think we have potential. RR is easy to root for, and we have some great (young) core players who are playing well or who have bright looking futures - McLaurin, Allen, Cosmi, Way, Gibson, Sweat, Young, Fuller, Kurl. Just keep building. Less hype, more substance. Kind of the opposite of the Cowboys.

I'm sure it's not Dan that made the commercial or decided when to air it. I get being salty with Dan when it makes sense, but being upset over this commercial seems silly.

Not upset, just critical. And I already explained why. In sum, a franchise as tattered as ours might want to consider a more subtle debut of the new name. I would counsel a dignified press conference at CommandersWhateverPark rather than yet another round of Danny's Hype in commercials and on the Today Show.

We are both fans and I welcome a different opinion. Yours just seem to lack any substance.

I have plenty of legit gripes with Snyder. A commercial to try to sell some tickets tied in with the re-branding is pretty far down on my list though.

Perhaps you do not understand the lens from which I view the commercial.

To clarify:

It speaks to a pattern of unjustified hype throughout his ownership. Danny loves the BIG Splash and BIG Moves. That is undeniable.

His endless craving for publicity coupled with his tacky (and seemingly sleazy) personality has hurt our product (translated: team, wins, reputation) since he took over. It has also made us something of a laughingstock more often than not.

And that is pretty high up on my list.

Totally understand that view. But this commercial was done in good taste and was not at all tacky or sleazy. They honored the past while looking to the future. I would guess Snyder had nothing to do with it. It's business 101 to promote a new brand announcement and also try to sell some tickets in the process.

Sure, viewed in isolation it makes sense and was a well done commercial. And I am relieved that it was run locally.

But coupled with the Today Show, I cannot help but look at the big picture. I hope I am wrong.

And it is Danny who is tacky and sleazy, not the commercial. ;)

I’m sure it will be a big upheaval and the team will lose some fans over the name change .. with that said I’m gonna remain a fan regardless.. I never thought they should have changed the name from Redskins .. but what do I know ? I’m a older white guy that’s allready targeted as racist by the mob .. ( same damn bunch that hated the skins name) .. if I’m crossing the line then ban me .. in a few days it won’t matter because from what I’m reading most of you will abandon ship .. if it’s commanders so be it !! If I were rich enough to own a nfl team I would damn sure pick a name I like … I don’t like Danny’s past accusations so if you guys wanna down him for that I’m on board … but I see the same guys who hate Snyder for alleged allegations are wanting a QB who has been accused by over 20 women of misconduct.. thus is a sea of hypocrisy..
