What was I thinking .. how could a perennial top 15 QB possibly help this bottom 10 offense. Check his stats past 5 years. Even in this down year hes 14th QBR. 2021 he threw for 4,804 yds. This fanbase turning its nose up on Carr bc hes not a Burrow or Mahomes .. it blows my mind. Reminds me of the Kirk Cousins when fans balked at paying the going rate for a top 15 QB .. because hes wasnt Aaron Rodgers. Functional franchise 31 year old QBs dont hit the open market often ... we are a QB starved franchise with WR weapons and a D ..... but we think we get to be picky and turn down an 8 because we are waiting for a big tittied but not fat bombshell 10 to magically appear in our life and say "this, this franchise with a horrible owner, horrible field, horrible organization the last 2 decades, zero track record of success in almost 30 years .. I chose you Commanders!" Funny part .. all the fans clamoring for Howell and not Carr will be screaming for Rons head half way through the season if Howell plays like a 5th rounder. C'est la vie. We learned nothing from the Cousins saga.
LOL! Well said!!! I agree 100%! What we do know...is that this franchise, regardless of the owner, hasn't drafted even a REALLY good QB, let alone a franchise QB, in over 40 years...at some point luck in that area HAS to change right??? |

Roman gonna need a stronger Oline and someone athletic behind center. And you got a 3 wr set offense with a your primary TE who can’t block…I don’t think the personnel matches the scheme. |

I think the biggest thing with him is nobody really knows what his actual role is, or how much he has contributed to the success of that Kansas City offense. There are enough questions there to prevent him from getting a head coach job. However, I see no reason why someone wouldn't give him an opportunity as offensive coordinator, but even then you are taking a risk. I say F it, bring him in to see what he can do. Go get Derek Carr and Evan Engram while you're at it. Poach O. Brown Jr too, and sign McGlinchey from the 9ers. Bring in M. Peters or J. Bradberry at CB. Draft a guard and center in the first 2 rounds, then CB, LB, and O-line for the remaining picks. Only if the new owner approves of course :) ...assuming Dan is still selling. |

All that means is he hasn't been on a complete team. Give me a "stat" QB over a QB that can just barely get it done if everything aligns perfectly for them - including luck. Because that's what we've been blessed with here for an eternity. |

Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I do not want to pay Derek Carr. I want to draft another quarterback in the mid rounds or keep Heinicke and build around Howell. Carr is not going to fair any better with this oline. He is 32 next month.
Plus he is anti clutch. It’s funny how we shit all over Cousins but now we want to roll out the red carpet for an older Cousins? Older as compared to when we let Cousins walk. |

I think it's more than interesting, and provides good reason to pause about bringing him in, but it's still a team game. He didn't lose all those games by himself. Here are the defenses he has had the pleasure to play with since he joined the league. 2022 - 26th 2021 - 26th 2020 - 30th 2019 - 24th 2018 - 32nd 2017 - 20th 2016 - 20th 2015 - 22nd 2014 - 32nd He's still better than anyone we've had here since Cousins. That being said, I would still rather see what Howell can do vs. pay someone like Carr - and not be able to upgrade areas of need, and bring back some of our own. But if they swing big on Carr, I won't hate it. Just hope it works out and we have an OC that can put it all together. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I sincerely hope Washington passes on Carr. If Washington signs him, it will be another year with a washed-up quarterback with a big salary. There is a reason the Raiders are letting him go, he is a marginal quarterback at best. I wouldn't put it past Rivera to sign him to cover up his failures with another splashy signing. There are other posts with his statistics, look at them before you jump on the Carr bandwagon. He is in the same category as Wentz.

I just hope we hire an OC. Gonna be the last job filled in the NFL at this pace.

Absolutely. We will win at least 9 games next year with the same exact team if Snyder sells. Taking a shower to wash off the Snyder stank, is worth 1 more win by itself. If Snyder sells: |

The #Commanders will interview #Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy tomorrow for their still-vacant OC job, source said. He's a top candidate. They spoke with Greg Roman yesterday, which went well, and have no other interviews scheduled.

if you won two SB in the past 4 years with the most dynamic offense around and the only gig you can find is WSH that is a red flag |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Heard Bieniemy has done 17 head coaching job interviews.
I dont see why Roman or EB would take this one year rental job. You come here to grab a bag of cash as you head to retirement or so unproven you have no alt options. I wouldnt come here if I was EB. Maybe Roman if its looking like its OC for us or some one year consulting job. Im imagine and hope they just have a very very quiet offseason. Tank .. tank .. tank. |

As they say, there's only 32 of these jobs. Maybe he's looking at RR as a lame duck and if he does a great job he could be in line for the next HC opening here. Who knows. There's also a lot to like about the offensive talent here. |

I don't know where you get the 2 more wins. That's nothing more than pure speculation. He's only 31 so age isn't a factor. He's not my first choice, but he's not a hard pass either. He has to be considered, and they did inquire about him last year, so the interest is (was) there. But if bringing him in means they would be unable to make other necessary upgrades, especially the O-line, then it wouldn't be too smart. |

Yeah Id like to see him here. Not like I really know any other candidates anyway. He's seen what it takes to win and if he even just brings that, thats a plus. EB .. I guess the thinking would be getting in this year sets you up as the no. 1 candidate as HC with new ownership when Rons let go or contract expires. If I was him, I wouldnt come here. People come here clean, leave tarnished. |
