I would pick Drake Maye over any other QB in the draft. It's not even close. He'll be more of a pocket passer than any of the others. Williams is a smaller 6'1" QB who is going to struggle being a pocket passer. My guess is they tailor that offense to his skillset much like the Eagles/Ravens do for their QBs. Granted, the shelf-life on those QBs is much lower than pocket passers and we continue seeing that every year.

Also, Lincoln Riley runs a high octane offense that puts up gaudy numbers. Hell, at ECU, he had two WRs that broke the NCAA reception records. TWO at small East Carolina University. All his QBs look great in his offense. (Baker/Murray/Williams)
You could insert Daniels for Williams in the above statement as well.

Think RGIII 2.0.

A flash in the pan and then the fizzle. Uber athlete. Slight build. 1 read and tuck it. No anticipation of presnap read to post snap reaction. Relies on 1st look then go. (Shotgun RPO QB)

I am as well. I’m late to watching this kid, but, from what I’ve seen, he’s a smooth operator.

Lead the nation in passing the last 2 years. Could possibly beat the best defense in the nation for a Chip. A resume like that dudes stock should be rising high.

My gut tells me Michigan wins, but if Penix puts up 30+ points on that defense...

Like Jim alluded to, I haven't been watching him this year, but he's growing on me.

Caleb is the most gifted passer in the class IMO, He can throw from any angle and any platform. He has big time potential.

I've watched Maye , Penix and Williams over the last 2 days. I'll check JD tomorrow

Our next GM and HC are out there somewhere, and soon they’ll be coming together around one of those guys (or maybe Daniels) to rebuild this franchise. This should be fun, at least that’s what I’ve heard.

A mock draft a day keeps something or other away. Going to try all different scenarios on different positions at 2 overall. By draft time, no way Penix falls back down into Rd. 2. But the QB pool after the top 4 guys doesn't do much for me. Very likely going to have to go QB at No. 2.

2. Joe Alt - OT - Notre Dame
36. Michael Penix Jr. - QB - Washington
41. J.T. Tuimoloau - EDGE - Ohio State
67. Zach Frazier - OC - West Virginia
96. Cedric Gray - LB - North Carolina
98. T.J. Tampa - CB - Iowa State
132. Cam Hart - S - Notre Dame
163. Isaiah Adams - OG - Illinois
194. Roger Rosengarten - OT - Washington

If Penix is the guy they like. Realistically how far can you drop into the first and still grab him? 10th?

Exactly. I think if you move down you can’t get behind a QB needy team. I wouldn’t being comfortable moving behind the Patriots

Consensus in the building Penix Jr is the guy, you take him at your pick

I guess it will all depend on how his medicals go. If he gets a good medical grade by most teams, I wouldn't imagine him falling any lower than 10th. Maybe 15th. But I think top 10 would be about right.

Agreed.

My whole point is higher draft pick =/= better qb. Doesn't matter who the qb is if we pick the wrong GM and they pick the wrong coach.

Mahomes - R1P11
Purdy - Mr. Irrelevant
Hurts - 2nd round
Tagovailoa - R1P5
Herbert - R1P6
Lamar Jackson - R1P32
Dak Prescott - 4th round
Tom Brady - 6th round
Aaron Rodgers - R1P24

Finding the next Peyton, Stafford, Aikman, etc. would be nice but it doesn't matter where we pick if we fuck up the pick. Far more 1st round pick bust qb's than stud qb's.

You are correct about the Bust !! There is so much luck involved also .. Whoever you pick has to stay healthy and not do some stupid off field crap ( Burrow injuries, Watson off field issues) Then factor in the System fit .. If Purdy had gone here instead of SF do you believe he would have had the same success??
Flip Sam to SF and we could be saying how we should have picked Sam😳😀.. there is so many different ways to look at it .. there are 4 High profile QB out there to Draft .. History tells us 2 of them will never live up to their draft status ... that is why you don't trade up and lose more capital... there is NO way to know for sure .. i would not draft ANY player with Red flags or History of major injuries.. not with a top 3 pick !

There are a bunch of busts in first round but it is still the best round to find one. For every Jalen Hurts in the second round there are like 8 Kyle Trasks. If we end up with a first round grade and they are available when we draft I say go for it. As the great Dr. Hunter S. Thompson said "Buy the ticket, take the ride"

People can say what they want about RR this season but this has been his best coaching yet for the team. Think about this just 7 weeks ago we were 4-6 and trying to battle for the 10th pick in the draft. 7 weeks later he has taken us as close to the top as we can get, yes with a little help along the way but lets give credit where it is due we couldn't have made it without Ron. Let's hope we don't have a let down in week 18 and get just a bit of help!

When there are 4-5 teams that want QB’s why would you pick a DE or OL? Trade down a few spots, get more picks and still get your DE and OL.

Well, that's obvious but, for goodness sakes, you don't need to be ridiculous with the #2 pick in the entire draft. Some of your other picks look pretty sweet, tho. Carry on.

I've watched every game. Even though it wasn't a good season, I have enjoyed watching, for the most part. Some good moments, some great moments, and a lot of frustration. But as a fan of this team, it's what I do - relish the good times, and suffer through the bad times. This year was no different. To me, it seems like an odd year to choose to stop watching them play. While the coaches, staff, FO, etc. won't be back next year, a lot of the players will. I think for the most part, they played hard and showed a lot of heart this year considering the circumstances. They've been in most games, with a couple of exceptions. I never got the sense that they were 'mailing it in'.

I got to experience the excitement and hope for the future in that stadium in week 1, and that was awesome. The season took a toll on that excitement as the year went on, but like you alluded to, I think most can't wait until they can't wait again, and hopefully that feeling is coming soon.
