Why are we discussing defensive draft picks so much? Without a huge infusion of new talent on offense the 2010 campaign promises to be as disappointing as last year. I'm just saying I can get excited about guys like the big 3 OTs: Okung, Campbell and Williams (?). Hell I can get excited about G/Centers this year!

I'm always excited about defense, but I'm with you Goat. I've never been as excited about getting o-linemen as I am this year. I would love to have a superior o-line. It's been a long time and we need it.

I mean one thing it seems Shanny hasn't gotten credit for is the line he put together in Denver before getting the axe. I don't think McDaniels replaced any of the line, and even w/ mediocre play from his QB the offense had some success.

Dude, I am with you all the way. We can draft all offensive linemen and I will be happy to be honest, although 4-5 linemen would be what we need. Any position filled on the o line would indeed fill a need. Only Raibach and maybe Dockery are keepers. Chris needs to retire, same thing for Randy.

I wonder if Rabach could have a little rebound in him as a lighter quicker blocking lineman. Not sure he has the brains but Shanny and Co should be able to find that out

I'm a bit late to the party but Haslett is a welcome change imo regardless of his scheme.

I thought that Blache wasn't getting the most out of our defense.
I thought that his scheme's were predictable and but at the same time lacked discipline.
I think our secondary as a unit the blew more coverages assignments then what can reasonably be expected from a unit with their talent and experience.

I'm skeptical about the move a possible move to 3-4 although i think it could work.

I think that Haynesworth would make a good possibly great NT if he were to embrace the position, but most likely he won't. But he could be an equally disruptive 3-4 DE.

Here's my opinion of how our 3-4 front 7 should look:

[B]DE[/B]-Daniels
[B]NT[/B]-Monty (I still have faith in this kid maybe with Blache gone he can get out of the dog house and show the upside he flashed under Gregg Willimam? And if not he's still a big body that could be a space eater.)
[B]DE[/B]-Haynseworth (He should freakin dominate here)

[B]OLB[/B]-Orakpo-Beast

[B]ILB[/B](Mack)-Fletcher has the speed and the instinct to excell in this role, its the postion in a 3-4 most similiar to his role as a 4-3 MLB; the 'mack' is the unblocked 'playmaker' in a 3-4. Rocky would also fit in this role but Fletcher,imo, is still at this point in their careers the better of the 2.

[B]ILB[/B](Buck)-H.B. Blades. The 'buck' 3-4 ILB is a banger that often takes on blocks and is similiar to a 4-3 SAM backer, Blades is the only true non-hybrid SAM backer on the roster and this might give him a chance to shine.
Imo Rocky too small for this position and would struggle getting off blocks because he's not often asked to as a 4-3 WILL.

[B]OLB[/B]-Chris Wilson/Carter- I remember Blache admitting that Kirk Olivadotti got more production from Chris Wilson during the offseason transition to hybrid DE/OLB then Blache did in Wilson's entire tenure with the skins.
I think we all see that Wilson has tons of potential and just needs to play.
Although Carter has played 3-4 OLB with the 49ers reports are that it wasn't a good fit, maybe the second time around will be the charm?

I think it could come together pretty quickly if Haynseworth stepped up and embraced the NT position.
But most likely he'll gripe and Montgomery will play the NT.
But, i think we have the good enough OLB/ILBs.

I don't think we're as far away as some would think, i don't think were that much further away then the Packers were when the decided to make the switch.

I agree, if they try to make the switch over night we will have problems but if they go hybrid maybe.

does anyone know how rocky and blades compare in hight and weight ?
i'm guessing rocky is taller and slimmer while blades is short and stocky.
is a short and stocky guy really who we want taking on blocks from big, heavy o-linemen ?
