Just.. I don't know..

I try to be so supportive but that's just.. I can't speak. Total disrespect to Taylor's memory.

Emotionally, this is no Disney movie. Many of us could not produce knowing what happened last week, and the pending funeral tomorrow. I am not saying that the game should not have been played, but it may not have been fair to expect them all to play with the fervor that Smotty showed today. Sean's life meant more than football. To his fiance and daughter he was a man. Quite possible, we saw men caught up on emotions - and not the football players we expected. Sometimes life is more than football.

Well, that was horrible but we know what we are. I think we all have to admit that not having ST at the end of that game was a huge difference maker.

The O-line, and Joe Gibbs should really be ashamed of themselves.

Tough week for the Redskins, no question about it. I know I'll get beaten up for this, but they're still not mathematically out of it.

But you almost kind of wish they were so they could just go out there and play relaxed. To lose a teammate and on top of that have to play for the postseason can't be easy.

They didn't make plays when they were supposed to. The game should have been decided long before that final field goal.

Re: Let's win for Sean: Bills vs. Redskins game thread

Gibbs ran into 3 nearly 11 man fronts, punted, then they got within 51 yards, a tough FG even for a great kicker. Then we give them a free 15 yards which is a chip shot for Lindel? Ridiculous. The team didn't play great, not at all, but it's necessary for Gibbs to try to finish a game when he can, not make it easier for another team to win.

I am losing respect for this team. Sure the weather stunk, but you are on the bubble for the playoffs and are trying to come out and win one for the memory of ST. They looked uninspired to say the least. I mean when Wellington died last year, the Gmen stomped us 33-0, and that was for some fogey the players probably didn't really know that well. ST was Mr. Redskin and was well liked in the clubhouse. They should have stomped the lowly Bills. Now we are realistically looking at 7-9. The team should be ashamed of this. ST deserved way better than this!!!!
I just laughed when I heard what happened. We've been letting teams come back on us all year.
And what hurts for me is that I still believe that deep down, we AREN'T a bad team. I think what kills me the most is that I can't figure out why we're so damn bad. I feel like we have most of the pieces there (besides losing a big one in ST) yet at the same time, we play like we're fresh out of college. It makes no sense to me.

I guess we're back to "normal" now. All week long it was all "God, I love this team" "They have my support" "I feel so sorry for what they have to go through"

But now we're back to pissing all over them.

Look, I've said a few times this year this was a trap game because the Bills are undderrated and Edwards is a smart, up and coming QB. I didn't know Marshawn Lynch would be out for this game of course. But I also didn't know Sean Taylor would be dead.

This is what you're going to get from the Redskins. Unfortunately they have not been able to close out games/drives, and I'm sure someone will trot out that halftime lead stat for the 80 millionth time. They can compete with just about anyone in this league. But more often than not, they can't beat them. It's something that needs to improve, but it starts on the field. Not with the playcalling. Campbell has to be the man now, and know when to fucking throw the ball away. The O-Line (save Heyer) is chock to full of veterans. They've been in the league long enough to know they have to fucking protect their QB.

Re: Let's win for Sean: Bills vs. Redskins game thread

Hey fellas,

Sean Taylor's death was unfortunate, and if I had not seen the skins do this all season long then I would attribute this loss to the emotions of losing possibly a person that could have been one of the greatest safeties in the NFL. With that said our team has been playing like it was preseason for the last five games, bad coaching, bad choices, bad O-line, and a D that is not consistant. Gibbs is coaching like he doesn't give a shit about where we need to be. I do believe he is in coast mode until the end of the year. Sorry fellas just feeling let down after a very sub par performance by a Pro Football team.

tman

All I know is that the Vikes, Cowboys and Giants are gonna stomp all over us. I'm not looking forward to the next few games. I'm not expecting anything special out of us against Chicago especially since we're losing a day of practice. The next 3 weeks are going to be long and painful.

You try playing under these circumstances. You had to know this could happen. You just can't understand the toll it takes on a person unless you've gone through it. If you didn't think this was a possibility then you aren't a thinking human being. They might not win again the rest of the year. I have trouble being too upset after this loss. Disappointed? Of course. Pissed off and ready to curse the team? Not a chance. Get a clue guys, come on.
Well that sucks. Gibbs isn't the only coach on that sideline though.
Please deduct 17 points from your coolness quotient for this. When the players cough up the ball, its the players fault, not Gibbs. When veterans commit dumb penalties, its their fault, not Gibbs. When Grilliams' deep cover 2can't stop the opposition from getting into FG range, its the D, not Gibbs. All within the realm of reason.

Just once, have the integrity to admit, that this is purely on Gibbs. We must hold him accountable for something. Head f...g Coach, damn it!

Re: Let's win for Sean: Bills vs. Redskins game thread

That is gonna be a long plane ride to Miami. Their spirit is broken. I just heard Gibbs. He wasn't aware of the double TO rule. He took the heat for the call before Sonny even asked him. I think they will be inspired play hard on Thursday. I am usually critical of the team I root for. I have an understand of how a loss of a friend and coworker can impact your performance,
can someone please explain to me exactly what gibbs did, i cant watch the game and from the looks of things on here im glad. all i caught was the ending kick but that was after the penalty.
What happened was Gibbs had the official right next to him, called a TO right before the kicker attempted a 51 yarder. They took the TO, commercial break, etc. Then the kicker lined up again, and the officials came running in. Joe Gibbs called two consecutive timeouts. Which everyone knows is a 15 yard penalty.

What I was referring to (since pointed out in that other thread about who called the time out) is that it may not have been Gibbs that called the timeout. It may have been another coach, a player perhaps.

Turns out it was Gibbs, and yes that's completely on him. But as I said before the game should have been wrapped up long before then.

I'm not pissed about how they played. I'm pissed about the poor defensive play calling with 56 seconds left on the clock and that stupid 2nd timeout. I don't blame the players at all. I think they played great with a few lapses for the most part. Playing zone with 56 seconds left and giving up HUGE yardage down field is GW's fault for those awful calls. God. :frusty:
