Bear Pascoe to the 49ers? Man thats the second coolest name in the draft. First goes to Ziggy Hood.

I agree! |

K or QB. Maybe even a S.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
We are on the clock, as much as i support the FO, I think they are gonna take a wr and i will be a little sad
Well look at Dallas this season. 11 picks on the 2nd day? Somebody is always looking for more picks in the hope that you take more shots you are bound to hit something worthwhile. Unless we totally go all out for the O line the rest of the way, this draft is a big waste of time for us minus Orakpo. Barnes might pan out and who knows about this LB from NE.
Completely agree, but hopefully Dallas misses on all 11 |

At this point last year Chris Horton was a nobody. Patience, please. |

Ok, we're up...

This pick will make me sad faced

Well, I would be more patient if we addressed our #1 need in the O line. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Ok, now I'm ranting. WTF? Another LB? This is just like last year with the wideout.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I wish Kiper were our GM
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Yeah!!! An inside LB!!
We are carefully avoiding ANY offensive picks this year. Wait... other than Orakpo, all our picks have been offensive. |

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Other than not addressing the O line, the draft is all you could expect it would be. Outside of the first 2 rounds the talent really isn't there this year. The Jets really screwed up with Sanchez and we really did good by avoiding him. i still think we will look to trade up to take McCoy or Bradford in 2010.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Feels like we're just sniffing around the ultra athletic LB type instead of being proactive.

yeah. I know. I am just disappointed that, with a top 10 defense and one of the lowest scoring offenses in the league, we didnt take a few more shots on that side of the ball. Think about it, other than Dockery, every significant offseason aquisition has been on the defensive side of the ball. Haynesworth, Hall, Orakpo, Barnes. Sure it had its issues late in the game, but was our defense THAT bad?!?! |

I'm not all that disappointed that we didn't touch the OL as we aren't exactly oozing with roster space at that position, but I'm pretty shocked that we're not spending late round picks on a runner we like. I mean, it's a perfect use of a 5th or 6th rounder, and we're just poking around for linebackers who can't all make the team because, again, limited roster space. |

But I offer this: in the draft we simply weren't going to be able to fill all 3 holes at OT, DE, and LB. Filling two of those holes through the draft would be a good draft. If Orakpo is the real deal, we filled one hole. If one of those LB's turns out to be the next Horton, we filled two holes. And let's face it, by drafting 2 LB's we are increasing the chance that at least one of the LB's works out. Over the course of the next few months, vet OT's should appear on the market. We could nab one of them and perhaps be in good shape. Or maybe Heyer, Rinehart, or Williams is quietly having a monster offseason and next year will be much, much better than before. All is not lost for the offense. |

Except for the part where Cody Glenn plays LB now (for the last year) because he had too many leg injuries at RB (which he played for the three years prior, unproductively at that). "Ultra Athletic" That may have been where the FO heart was, but i think Vinny pulled a classic Vinny and just closed his eyes and pointed at a list of players. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I agree wit Gus I think the 3 no-brainers are setting up Williams to fail and looking forward to 2010 as the lions will end up with the first pick again and will not be intersted in a QB and willing to trade and that's when Snyder creams in his pants and puts on his knee pads.

Maybe they go with a cheerleader, like our 5th round pick.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I like Gerald Cadogan, OT from Penn State. He's got good size, and his character and durability are rated really good.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
^^ Bet he's gone or, if not, we don't pick him.

I'm calling a tight end or QB
Well I guess added pressure for the offensive players taken in last year's draft (the WRs, Fred Davis, and Rineheart)
I agree. There is a lot more pressure for these players to produce, we let them develop, and adjust to NFL game speed last year, as well as some time for the WRs to recover from their various injuries (other than Kelly's degenerative knee condition). But i think Dock and Williams (hopefully his back has recovered enough over the past few years), I like the way our line is shaping up, I think we could have used a couple of young bodies from the draft, but, Vinny almighty decided against it. But, the REAL key, is whether Jason Campbell can take more of a leadership role, increase his play recognition, and start making those throws down field. This will prevent defenses from stacking the box like we witnessed in the last half of last season starting with the Steelers. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
ok, given that we did not do any OL help in this draft, and we all know we need more youth/skill there, how should we get that. I know cobracai is high on Levi Jones from Cinci, I second that. Any other names that might be out there?
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I wouldn't mind the RB Rashad Jennings...he's a monster. He could be a huge bruising back for us.

Now that the Jags have loaded up at OT they may want to let Tony Pashos go. As well, since the Ravens got Oher, they may wish to turn the timeless Willie Anderson loose. |

I think both Pashos and Levi Jones could be good pick ups. I'm hoping that Bugel sees something in Williams and Heyer and thats why we didn't take an OT. Also I think Kwame Harris is out there. I know he was a BUST in oakland but who isn't. He is young and talented and maybe could see what he can do in camp. Call me crazy but I think a change of scenery could really help him. |

Anybody else realize that the 7th we got from the Vikings for trading down was the same pick we gave them for Erasmus James?
