your right he was a football executive and he won executive of the year in 2002, as well as other a few divisional championships. whats your point?
Because people keep talking about his alleged draft record

cerrato hasn't been a gm all these years, and snyder has never taken the tittle of gm either but they have both had in a hand in almost all the draft picks of the last decade have they not? just beacuse he doen't have the title of "draft guy" does not mean he doesn't have any in put or has learned from his experiences on other teams.

is he the number one guy for the job maybe not, i honestly don't think there is any perfect guy for the job at this point we have very unusual conditions here in dc and whoever could have been up for the job would no doubt have their hands full, i'm just glad to see some one with some football background and some success in their football background here, and am looking forward to see what happens

We'll never know with each pick how much was Allen and how much was Undead Al. We can still talk about picks made on his watch. They are part of his record even if Undead Al was a significant author of that record.

We do know - big al made the decisions in Oakland. In Tampa, Gruden generally made the decisions. Allen is NOT a personnel guy which is why Snyder and Allen will either promote or bring in a personnel guy to make those decisions here. For all intents and purposes, Allen will end up being more of a president than a GM, atleast if JLCs reports are to be believed.

A couple of people have mentioned it but whether you agree with the pick or not it's a step in the right direction. We laid the foundation and are framing the house before we're trying to put the roof on. Also, I'll repeat what I said earlier, who really thinks that we had a bunch of guys that we may have wanted that wanted us in return? I mean could you really see a Piolo, etc coming to the Skins?

What I know about Allen seems like a big improvement over Vinny. But here's the billion dollar question: is Allen a guy who will keep Snyder from meddling in the football decisions?

Thought I would pass this along. It's a good read from the Denver Post:

I found this interesting also:

Redskins hiring Allen could be first move toward adding Shanahan
Shanahan has been quietly making inroads to round out a staff, multiple sources said, and they would be surprised if he doesn't ultimately end up in Washington to replace Jim Zorn shortly after this season ends in a team president/head coach capacity similar to the role that Joe Gibbs had there.
and
Shanahan interviewed for the Buffalo Bills' head-coaching job a few weeks back, but few people who know him expected the talks to progress, with other suitors emerging. Should the Dallas Cowboys continue to plummet, they could be in line for a coach, with Shanahan a top option. The Texans already have a great offense in place (they essentially run Shanahan’s offense with a good young quarterback in place), and there would be lots in place to attract the coach there as well, but I continue to hear he is most likely to land in Washington given the machinations already ongoing as he reaches out to potential hires for his next gig.

What a great day! I have been waiting a whole year for the real end of Ceratto, and while Allen is a huge unknown, its a step in the right direction, and you gotta love how many picks he has had in every draft. That is key to building depth on the lines and keeping the team younger. Now lets just finish the season and see part II fall in place. ORAKPOSLICE OUT!

Don't worry about that.

By the way, if you guys here any talk about Cerrato being a "consultant" to the team. Don't get worked up over it. He has no role with the team. It's just that he's still under a contract for a few more months so that's his new title. Nothing to worry about

honestly i really don't think any changes need to be made in the coaching staff. i know i'm probably in the minority but bringing in yet another coach means more change and possibly more set backs. make lewis the oc and let him call the plays and let zorn keep game planning and working with jc and i think we're on our way. i'd keep blache if he wants to stay, if not then hire grey as dc and let's keep things stable.
Yea if we cannot get Gruden than we should keep our Coaching Staff in place for at least 1 more season.

Signs point to Mike Shanahan becoming the Redskins' next team president and head coach. The Denver Post on Thursday reported Shanahan has been in discussions to join the Redskins. As of early Friday morning, Shanahan and the Redskins did not have an agreement in place, a source with knowledge of the situation said

Yep you are 100% right. Lewis made that well known when he was hired this year. Maybe a shame though, because the offense is suddenly clicking so well.

Skins are 2-3 (.400) in the playoffs. My point was he isn't much better than the carousel that's been here. If we're starting over why not aim for better than mediocre?

We do have a 3rd rounder. We used it already though. It was used on Jarmin. We got him early and he has playing time so he won't be a true rookie. Plus he actually looked good. Let him get healthy, build some more size and he will be a monster with Orakpo on the D-line.

I am not thrilled by Shanahan, but he is an experienced Football professional ;). In all seriousness, even in Gibbs day we didn't win multiple playoff games every year, but we were always competitive and had a shot, and I think that's what Shanahan brings. Plus, we have a much better D for the next 3-5 years at least than Shanahan ever did.

The main thing, is that it is a return to NFL normalcy and a hopeful indication that DS is learning to be a good owner and not as meddlesome.
