From what I have read on immigration illegals were not a hugh concern as it is today. Back then we needed labor and we did not have a bunch of social programs that they could drain. If they did not work then they did not eat.

Arizona mad because the Mexican drug cartels have cut out the middle man. They have too many guns now. No more paying to cross your ranch. I remember up until the recession pounds cost only 200 dollars in Arizona. now all of a sudden we want to change how the border is run. This country has been here for over 200 years and only now we are crying about the border. Complainging about Mexicans in Arizona is like complaing about hawaiians in Hawaii. The demographic bomb baby bout to explode is set to explode in t-minus 20 years.

Boycott what they are broke and have no money to spend in AZ. I guess it makes the ass wipes feel better because they have FU LA so bad they want to try and also FU AZ. This will only come back to bite them because if they have not seen the polls the majority of people support AZ.

sadly, I do believe that there is an inherent angst, which often leads to anger, between all ethnic groups. Maybe, as the world "shrinks" and we all begin to realize that we are all equals, the angst will lessen, but the more dominant one ethnic group is, the stronger that division will be. I doubt there is one nation where everyone, regardless of ethnicity, simply gets along.

Nice point and in hundred years or less, races and ethnicities are gonna be soooooo blended we wont be able to tell who is who. This is a great by product of the free market and increasing globalization. With less expensive travel and world communication reaching every corner of the earth faster and faster, this has really sped things up. wonder what the racist will do then...

[COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana]I honestly still dont understand the connection people blindly make between racism and this law. I am a huge civil liberties advocate, possible to the extreme. Anyone who reads the law will know that it doesn’t violate civil liberties. The Justice Department is suing Arizona not based on any civil liberties violation, but because they say the Federal Govt has preempted rights. They have no case for civil liberty violations. That would be a change in response to you first statement, but I think policies of isolation most likely though. Yeah my statement though just spoke to the comment I quoted, not directly to the state law of Arizona.

"Opponents of the Justice Department's lawsuit challenging the enforcement of Arizona's controversial illegal-immigration law have hit upon a strategy to highlight what they contend is a gaping inconsistency in the Justice Department's policy priorities. Why should federal attorneys be targeting the Arizona law as an alleged obstacle to coherent and centralized enforcement of federal immigration statutes, they argue, while Justice officials also have done nothing to challenge the legal status of so-called sanctuary cities, which effectively block enforcement of the same federal law?"

Judge pretty much blocks the teeth of this law with a partial injunction stopping police from asking about their immigration status. I pretty much knew this judge would take the liberal stand from what I had read about her. I'm sure the left will see this as a victory but I think its just another strike against them come November because most people supported this Arizona bill.
