I really don't think Wade is as good as people think.. Not only as a coach, but also as D-coordinator He has arguably the most talented Defense in the NFC,with maybe the exception to the Vikings and still can't stop pedestrian offenses. Like the redskins and Bears... Yes,we didn't score a TD against them, but we were able to move the ball without a running game and only allowed 1 sack all game as our O-line was basically.."brand new" Our inability to score in the red zone, made that game closer than it could have been imo... Then a bears team, who O-line sucks, was still able to beat that Awesome Wade defense..lol Yes,they came back and played well against the texans, but their Defense is as about as Consistent as our and we have excuses... New personal, new scheme..players don't fit and not as talented overall as that Cowboys Defense and we allowed a Dallas team to score 7 and a HOT eagles team to score 12... You guys need to seriously give Haslett a break... He's had 4 games with this team unlike 4 years that Wade and his awesomeness have had... Wade is overrated... Want a good d-coordinator..? Go search for marty... Now he's a good one! |

Ever since Wade took over? Scoring touchdowns have become a difficult chore against them. San Diego was a utter crap on D in the year before Wade went there. By the time he left? Top 10 in 2006 and steady improvements in the years prior. Compare that to the regression Pittsburgh had when Haslett took over for Lebeau. And even if I like trashing them, I can see competence when I see it. Wade is good at D-coord just like Sid the Bitch is an elite center. |
Re: A.J/Chargers will blink and the Redskins will get VJ for a 3rd and 5th!
I think I know what A.J will eventually do...
He does not want to take the chance of VJ holding out all season as his agents appear to be very serious about this. He knows he just can't get the compensation for what he wants and the Moss deal will be what helps him make this decision imo.. I do believe him, when he says that he wants more from AFC teams in compensation than what he would take from an NFC team. But here's the kicker...he's gonna want to screw VJ as much as possible I believe...So he will trade VJ to a team that has a week 6 BYE (trade deadline) or beyond. This narrows the teams that get VJ to this list imo (NFC Teams) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Week 6 bye=Cardinals,Panthers Week 7 bye=Lions Week 8 bye=Falcons,Bears,Giants,Eagles Week 9 bye=Niners,Rams,Redskins Week 10 bye=Packers,Saints This would give VJ,one less game even beyond his suspension which will justify A.J. giving in and blinking...imo Now the only teams I can see possibly getting VJ,would be the Rams,Panthers and Redskins of that list above. Rams=Bradford has played well with what he has,but with their injuries..VJ could help big time, not to mention that they are in the hunt at 2-2 to win the division! Panthers=similar situation as Rams with Smith going down and Clausen getting the start now but this would be a move for their future, as they probably feel they aren't winning it this season. Redskins=Outside of a few plays here and there from Armstrong and Moss,Shanny will want to give McNabb some help that the Eagles never did in his tenure there. Plus, this will be important with Portis out and Shanny going with a running game, even he's not sure about. (I see Roydell as the odd man out, giving us VJ,Moss,Armstrong,Galloway,Thomas and Banks) Could also be Devin Thomas with all we are hearing,so who knows here? But this is the tricky part...we don't have the 2011 picks that A.J. and the chargers want...The Redskins do not have a 3rd or 4th rounder in the 2011 draft. (Mcnabb and Brown trade) ..and we aren't giving them the 2nd that A.J. wanted or the deal would have been done by now. (we even already have a contract set up for the guy at 4 yrs/44 Million) So I see the Redskins giving them our 5th rounder. (the one we swapped up/down to get Carriker for a steal) in the 2011 draft and our 2012 3rd rounder. This is better compensation than the Moss deal(and Holmes) and what the chargers would get in compensation in the compensatory pick.(Which would be a very low 3rd rounder after everyone has picked in that round) btw..his agents said he would sign a cap 1st year friendly deal as a free agent to screw the chargers out of their 3rd round compensatory pick as well...which helps in us trading for him too. So there you have it! I expect a deal to go down sometime next week after the Green Bay game, that has to made before the Colts game as the trade deadline hits. But who knows? That A.J. seems to be a stubborn fool..lol Lets hope A.J. blinks! :food-smil
WOW :drink Keep Drinking my man ITS NOT HAPPENING |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
The Chargers could get a 2Nd and a 3rd for VJ, Why would they take a 3-5? I wouldn't mind lol But AJ is no Fool

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Ya'll can keep this in mind about Wade...
I've always felt he is an awsome DC but a horrible HC. It seems like everytime he gets a DC job he does well and looks good, ie; Buffalo, Falcons, Chargers, but when he gets the HCing job because of his awsome work he bombs or the team gets worse, ie; Buffalo, Falcons, Dallas and so on. I'd take Phillips as a DC, but never as a HC. Never. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Wow... just wow. This would never happen.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I just heard VIA Facebook that Georgia is trading A.J Green to Washington for Rex Grossman, Yea I know it's never been done in Football history and Is against any rule ever made, but trust me FB is a legit source for football news.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Why would we want to give up any more picks for a wide rec. who has off the field issues and wants a ton of money. Haven't we learned our lesson from the past of doing business like this. We can find a WR in next seasons draft with a late or undrafted free agent. Remember we still have Kelly on IR. Lets be patient and build through the draft.

I get the feeling him and probably DT will be shipping out after this season. Thomas can't run routes and Kelly can't stay healthy, although we drafted him knowing he had an injury history. We'll probably be cutting our losses in the off season. |

The topic came up and people started debating Phillips. Definitly wrong thread to do it in but the debate came up. I simply voiced my opinion also. |

When it comes to WR's we have gotten burned doing business both ways. Recently Thomas and Kelly through "building through the draft" as you put it and in the past Lloyd, ARE, Patton and so on. You mention throwing draft picks away on a WR who has proven himself to be able to play in the NFL as being crazy but you'd rather take your 50/50 chance on a draft pick? Honestly the second scenario sound crazy. I'm all about building through the draft like the Patriots did yrs ago, and having a healthy young team, but the team needs it's vets also in order to pass on skills. How much longer will Galloway and Moss be here? I also don't want to waist another draft pick on a player who can't make the jump like Thomas and Kelly. The good news is I think this coaching staff is better at evaluating talent and determining if it will work in the scheme of things vs. past coaching staffs so if picking a WR up in the draft is the solution then I'll accept it, if picking up VJ is their answer I'll accept that as well. But I think we all can agree on a couple of things... Thomas and Kelly are not getting it done and we need a WR. |

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
So glad we didn't pursue this guy. We're not in a position to give away more picks. Gotta build in the trenches first.
|
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
You know we might be able to get him for free after this season anyways. Maybe that's why Shanny didn't think twice about not sending picks for him, because he could be had if he ends up a free agent and they don't franchise him next season.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Well, looks like the deadline is this coming Tuesday.
I thought of something earlier and wonder what you guys think of this...? Obviously A.J. Smith wants way more than what the redskins or any team want to pay for Jackson. I believe he wants at LEAST a 2nd rounder and the highest anyone will offer is a 3rd and lower... There seems to be a lot of interest and talk about teams picking up Shawne Merriman immediately when he's released. (I'm seeing it all over the boards) The deal is...I believe merriman is on the PUP list and will need to be released as soon as he is healthy again. (Their required to do so apparently) So here's my thought...? Apparently we are interested in Merriman too, according to Clayton..(yes,I know it's Clayton, but still) Plus,he would be a very nice addition to the 3-4 defense we want to run. We are also interested in Jackson, but don't want to give a high pick or what A.J. Smith is wanting.. So I'm wondering...What if we offered a 2nd round pick for Jackson and Merriman? A.J. would get the pick he wants...(a 2nd rounder) We would not have to get in any bidding war for the services of Shawne merriman in a trade(same contract he's under) But the chargers wouldn't get anything for Merriman anyways, since they MUST release him anyways as soon as he is healthy...No draft picks there for them doing that. (THEY must release him immediately) So they get the 2nd rounder they would never had gotten without throwing in merriman...right? and we don't have to get in any major contract bidding war for his services from all the teams in need of a LB. Right? Think about it...just because jackson will be a free agent next season, does not mean we will get him because he's a free agent. Other teams will be in the fold then and bruce isn't going to get in a bidding war with him then either.. But trading for VJ now,we can negotiate with him throughout the season and come to an agreement, but with him ON THE TEAM. (and not against 31 NFL teams) I guess the question is...can a player be traded while on the PUP/IR list? If so...could we trade for Merriman before he is healthy and they are required to release him... We trade for LB Shawne Merriman and WR Vincent Jackson and give the chargers our 2nd round pick. Then we put Shawn Merriman on the inactive list, till he is healthy and ready to play... We release Roydell Williams and someone else... Your thoughts..? |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Ace, the only problem I see with your idea is that Merriman is no longer a very good player. You can put it down to getting off the steroids or his multiple knee injuries but he hasn't been "lights out" for a number of years now. I don't think he would be a good addition to our defense. I also think V jackson is a poor addition to our locker room.

I understand what you're saying... My thought on this was...Jackson is most likely to many to be worth a 2nd rounder...alone. I mean,Brandon Marshall cost two 2nd rounders...What was Boldin traded for..a 2nd? VJ is a definate #1 WR that we need. So even if Merriman is no longer any good,it's not like we over paid for a player of VJ's ability... We would be basically getting Merriman for nothing...Without a bidding war once he's a free agent and with the possibility that a change of scenery and him hitting previous form...A huge steal in a trade. 2 multiple pro bowl caliber players at the cost of a 2nd round pick. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Agreed with Jontrem; I would rather not do business at all with AJ Smith if at all possible lol.
|
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I don't know what the rules are regarding IR'd players and trading them. Merriman is on IR was some minor injury label.
|
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
The chargers will still want more than a 2nd rounder, I believe a 5th rounder added would do it.

I've never heard of this situation before either. I always thought IR meant "must be out for whole season, can replace roster spot". From reports I've heard, he must be RELEASED when healthy, so I have not heard if they're allowed to trade him. |

Agree 100% Why do ppl think we are still trading for VJ???? If Allen wanted him, he would have been here by now.. And a 2nd rounder? Come on dude, you would be the same guy bitching next draft when we wouldn't have any picks. Plus VJ would have to learn Shanny's system.. Not happenening |

Another thing about VJ, he doesn't play special teams. We know what happens to those kind of players.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I know it's only five games & five games doesn't make a season, but based on how we are playing now free agent players will be begging to play for us next season. They see the direction we are going in, it will no longer be based on the $$$$ we can give them.
