?????????

Terrible comparison. Just awful. Dude could be a bust, but try and pick a QB with any kind of remote similarity at least.

Locker's character and intangibles are off the charts and he is crazy mobile.

Ryan Leaf was a very different player/prospect.

People just compare him to leaf bcuz of the pac10 locker is 3 times the QB leaf was

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

I guess I didn't make my sarcasm apparent. I should have also stated I liken Tony Romo to Ryan Leaf. But that's only because he is on the Cowgirls. I don't think Locker will be Ryan Leaf, but he definitely will not be a superstar or a successful starter IMO either.

3 times the QB of Leaf?

That puts him at on the Cary Conklin level.

Locker in the mid first round (assuming trade down), Paea in the 2nd, Halas or OLB in the 3rd (if picked up from trade).

Definitely. I don't want any part of Locker unless he's there in the 4th round.

I say Jake Locker is the Trent Williams of QB's. Ergo we will take Jake Locker. By the way does anyone remember what time last year we were talking about taking Williams because I remember it where it was like one day we were talking about him being a second round guard for someone else and then the next thing I know we're trying to decide between Berry and Williams.

I thought you thought we were taking Newton?

Anyhow, I can't speak for others. I can say that for myself in late January I thought we wouldn't really consider TW in the first round

http://www.thewarpath.net/654963-post51.html

But the more I talked to people about what Shanahan was looking for, by late February I was starting to believe

http://www.thewarpath.net/667344-post188.html

Then by early March, I pretty much locked him up in my mock draft

http://www.thewarpath.net/nfl-draft-central/35599-mel-todd-mock-draft-3-0-a-3.html#post672522

So that was my Trent Williams' time line...no one else's matters :)

Chris Russell says we have a private workout with Cam Newton scheduled for April 15th.

I doubt CN will be there at 10, and I doubt we'd trade up to get him

@Smootsmack. Newton is this years Bradford. We thought we would be able to get him earlier in the process but now as it turns out one of the teams in front of us likes him enough to take him (*Read Carolina or Buffalo*)

Well, So is Gabbert. They will both be gone..........I'm fine with that i guess. I say a little prayer every night for Von Miller to fall to us at 10.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

Von Miller, Blaine Gabbert, Cam Newton, will be gone.

At this point it comes down to, Julio, Amukamara, Quinn, Smith, Taylor or Tyron Smith.

Anything else would be a reach, and anyone rated higher would be a stretch.

I don't want a WR at 10, again to many WR bust in the first round.. I'd rather go with Quinn or Locker

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

There will be so much talent to pick from at #10, especially if Gabbert and Newton get picked before the tenth pick. A WR would be a waste. I would rather take OT Anthony Costanzo then a WR. That would solidify our OL for years to come.

I know it's risky but you guys are acting like wr are a dime a dozen. I don't care what position it is .... Anyone of them can be a bust. So if AJ Green is there at 10 you would pass ?? Cmon man.

WELL SEEING AS YOU CAN GET GOOD WR'S IN LOWER ROUNDS, THEY ARE A DIME A DOZEN IMO.. Look at Dallas with Miles Austin, Philly with D.J and NY with Steve Smith, just to name a few in our division.. WR's taken in the first round are more likely to fade away than to become stars.. Fitz, AJ80, Calvin Johnson and Randy Moss are exceptions to that rule but I'd rather go with OLB, DB, OL or QB at 10.

If AJ Green truly is a Calvin Johnson type prospect (ie Physically gifted with a good head on his shoulders) we have to take him.

I agree but how often does a CJ come around? Not much especially in the top 10.. Ask SF how Crabtree is working out? Or Cleveland with Edwards..

Most ppl thought Rod Gardner was a can't miss WR also Just Saying

Rod Gardner and AJ Green aren't even close in terms of value coming into the draft. Gardner came into his draft with a mid first round grade, scouts on the other hand regard Green as possibly the safest pick in the draft.

Green is getting the same top 5 draft grades that we've seen in the past from guys like Charles Rogers, Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Crabtree, and Fitzgerald. Obviously out of that group only one has turned into a bust, and the other one could still go either way. Still the thing that Green has in common with Calvin, Andre, and Fitz is that like those three he has a good head on his shoulders. Rogers and consequently Crabtree are both head cases

Of course it's probably a moot point as Green will most likely be gone by the time we pick. My money's on Cleveland.

You bet. Gotta feed the front. There will be difference-makers like Quinn left.

While I agree with the sentiment of building with the lines I still don't think you pass up someone like Green who has that combination of skill, smarts, and work ethic. Quinn will be good but I like to look at it this way. In 5 years would you have a better chance of convincing a team to trade Quinn for Green or Green for Quinn. Personally I think Green will be the type of player where you wouldn't even be able to offer up Orakpo and get him in a straight up trade.
