Difference is AJ is currently playing under a contract (that has been extended multiple times) that is worth $73.5M total over 10 years. Fitzgerald's is $46.5M more than AJ's, and AJ may be the better player. That's why I said it's an overpay.

It's a monster deal, perhaps more than he would have gotten on the open market, but the Cardinals are stuck between a rock and a hard place if Fitzgerald walks. The financial flexibility they would have gained would have been useless if they had their investment in Kolb and nothing else around him.

Clayton was not the only person using the 140-character maximum social media platform to dispense positive vibes on Whitehurst, either. As noted by Christian Caple of SeattlePI.com, former (and future?) Seahawks safety Lawyer Milloy is a believer in the man currently best known as "Clipboard Jesus."

"Charlie Whitehurst should be our starting QB opening day. #ImJustSaying," Milloy tweeted. Later, he provided equal time to the other man involved in the situation: "I promise I want TJack to do well ... Charlie played his butt off to allow the Hawks a shot at the playoffs. 2 good pre-games deserves a shot."

The Seahawks will travel to Denver for their pivotal third preseason game; though the team has not indicated that there is a competition ongoing, one gets a sense that the situation remains fluid. I think high cost contracts on WRs and RBs are wasted. I guarantee peyton can get by with junkers, and mcnabb did too for quite a while. Look at brady, welker was cheap, they got randy for almost nothing, and when he started being randy, they cut ties.

fitzgerald is a great WR, top3 no doubt, but I don't think he's 119mill more valuable than veteran level replacement.

I mean, I think our WR corp is actually very good (and very deep). If we didn't use a draft pick on hankerson, he wouldn't make the team. Moss is the only one getting paid, and it's a very modest deal for a 1200 yard receiver. donte can be a good 1 (100yd/game) when healthy, and gaffney/armstrong are both 800yard guys and they're all basically free. after that austin has looked great making hard catches and being in the right spot, and paul hasn't looked bad either.

At RB, we don't have a superstar, but hightower, helu, and torrain, making about $0 between them, look like a great group, with royster serving as the emergency callup.

instead, they're going to be paying fitzgerald big money till he's 35 or taking a big cap hit when they're done with him.

I do understand keeping your superstars, it just sucks when they aren't at positions where they provide a really big advantage (LT/DE/QB - someone that's fully involved in every play).

I think LBs and S are other positions that don't really warrant huge money (ryan clark at 1.5mill... why'd we ever let you go...).

Is it just me or does just about every team in the NFC East has some type of issue in their offensive line. The G-Men lost their core o-linemen, the Iggles have this issue now, and I think the Cowpukes also lost a couple of veterans in their line and are young at the position. I could be wrong, but we may be the most stable line in the NFCE. Shocking, no?

Kudos to CJ. If Fitz gets 15 a year for 7 years, than 13.5 for 4 years is reasonable for a RB of CJs caliber.
