Remember Grossman has looked good against the Ravens and the Steelers.
That's pretty nuts. Case closed.
That is pretty telling as well and it would make sense to everyone for him to get the start, but you never know what the coach sees and feels behind the scenes. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
New kick off rule is BS .. so stupid and annoying

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Gomes is #24. If he wants to make the team, he'd better hit somebody and wrap him up.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Yeah but Beck brings so much more to the table athletically, that's all he's talking about.
I agree with Gruden, I think Beck starts 9/11
Beck starts 9/11 we lose the game. All you have to do is bring tremendous pressure and the guy is going to throw stupid INTs. Give him different looks, different blitz packages and he is good for 2-3 INTs. This guy has never cracked 3rd string in his life. Again how many games does Rex Grossman have as a starting QB in the NFL? How many starting in playoff games? Beck looks solid against 2nd teamers and Gruden uses the hype machine to have this guy starting? Sorry, unless Rex gets hurt or really has a crappy season and gets benched, Beck will be a 3rd stringer in 2012, if we resign Rex and draft a QB. Beck hasn't cracked the 3rd string at any of his previous gigs, when he should have easily. He shows potential, but then again, it is against backups. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
He's suspended for the first four games of the season, as I think you know. He could play in preseason games.
But Shanahan and Haslett decided he wouldn't because they want the D to prepare for the first four weeks of the season without him
Ok. Thanks Smoot. Good strategy by the coaches I have to say. It will also be nice to get the guy back. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Ah my bad. Should have googled it but we have had a few cocktails tonight and couldnt make the effort!

Bring on Matt Gutierrez!

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
As far as evaluating Beck, it's like Gruden said. He's going to be evaluated on all his game reps and practice reps, so that drive against 2nd teamers is only going to factor in the equation so much. I'm leaning towards Beck because as has been mentioned, athletically he offers more than Grossman. I do feel more comfortable knowing we will have a good backup either way though.
Agreed.. Who cares who starts.. Both guys look good, and both will probably play this year. Im so glad i don't have to watch #5 throw balls in the dirt this year. |

True,I won't be upset with either pick but I lean towards Rex Like I said I wouldnt be opposed to them carrying this same routine for reg season --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=29.940917,-95.634926 - Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Rex is just as capable of tossing dumb picks, and fumbling. Remember last year at all? How did Beck never crack 3rd string when he started 4 games as a rook? |

Clemens about to make this a 3 horse race right here! lol |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
My whole deal is...if MS really liked Beck, he should've made him the starter from day one or at least start him this whole game. Instead he left it up to chance and Grossman got most of the reps against the Ravens first-team.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Look at how accurately he throws balls into the ground on third down!

Your argument against beck can be applied against Grossman to an even greater extent. |

I feel really comfortable with Sav Rocca as our only punter.

This is how I feel about the guy. It is a gut feeling. Could be totally wrong. |

Well, maybe telling Beck to refrain from unleashing the dragon would have helped. |

One thing for sure we have a big time RB in Hightower what was AZ thinking

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Locklear may be done--that was some weak ass blocking.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Gano CRUSHED that. Hopefully he has last years issues behind him.

GANO--very nice kick! 48 yards.

I think MS just likes pushing the competition angle.
That too actually. Competition is good...but I just feel that if a QB performs against starters, he should get the nod. In the end, we have to trust Shanny I guess. But I would feel better to have seen Beck play the whole first half if he is going to be the starter. |
GaWho?!

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
O is not as hot with Clemens running it, although that was an impressive effort escaping the sack.

Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
I will take experience and someone who is cool under pressure over a more athletic guy any day. Case in point, the ATL Falcons. They can't get to the playoffs with MR Wonderful Vick, but can with the rook Ryan the next season. Vick is a freak athletically, but Ryan has a good head on his shoulders, and at the time was a better passer(still is). If I am Coughlin or Andy Reid, I will love playing a Beck led Skins offense. Give the guy heavy pressure and he is apt to panic and do something stupid. It isn't John's fault, he hasn't experienced that stuff before in real game situations, but Rex has, and plenty of it.

They are definitely kicking themselves now on that one. It's nice, for once, to be on the right side of a trade. I just hope he carries this production into the regular season. |
