LOL. Clearly, they AREN'T a dysfunctional organization.

And saying he'd rather play with a known commodity like Matt Cassel is like saying he'd rather play with known commodity Rex Grossman over Robert Griffin III (for you Lotus). Just because Matt Cassel is a known commodity doesn't mean he's a good commodity.
Trust me, why he chose Kansas of all teams is interesting to me too.

It's not unreasonable to think he doesn't want to be part of the media circus in Washington. Also, Cassel seems to give teams he's with a chance and isn't the joke of the NFL like Rex. Terrible comparison.

Willie Smith and Dejon Gomes are both "fingers crossed" guys. They both flashed good and flashed suck last year. We need both to be much better as sophomores but there is no guarantee of that.

skinsfaninok 03-16-2012 06:11 PM

I'd take RG3 or luck over about 7 Starters in the league today.

Rex.
Tjack
MATT moore
Mark Sanchez
Colt McCoy
Matt cassel

If Winston goes to KC IMO it will not be because of Cassel, because they are competitive, because it's a small town, because they haven't been dysfunctional, or because of the barbeque. None of those are compelling reasons despite the barbeque's being good.

It will be for one reason: $$$$

You'd take,
Tebow
Kolb
Bradford
Gabbert
Dalton
Hasselbeck
A Smith
Freeman
Palmer

over RG3? We're not drafting some borderline 1st round QB (Campbell), we're drafting a legitimate 1st overall pedigree type of QB. You'll regret that list in 1 year.

That's fair, also maybe Kyle isn't a fan of Winston? He'd know him as well as anybody.
Who needs Winston, we got Willie Smith who I predict will be the RT for many years to come.
I would love it and part of me believes you're right.
Willie Smith has the physical skillset and measureables to fit in this scheme.

But, I don't want to end up taking Willie Smith potential for guaranteed.
I think its smart to get a solid RT that is a clear upgrade from Jammal Brown.
If we're drafting RGIII we owe it to him and to ourselves to keep him protected and Jammal Brown and Willie Smith is a huge and unneccesary risk.
Upgrade RT and if Willie Smith emerges great, there's no loss there.
But if we count and Willie Smith and he fails then we really hinder the productivity of RGIII.
Cowboys overspent for Carr... he's not worth 10 mil per
Where do you come up with 10 mil per year?

His guaranteed money is only 26 million. Thats all that matters anyway is the guaranteed money. They have the option to void the final year of the contract in 2013.

They can take his salary in 2013 and convert it to a signing bonus and prorate that over 3 years. Which means his total salary cap numbers will be over the next 4 years are 3.2 for 2012 and 4.2 mil over the next 3 years after that.

In fact, all 6 free agents the Cowboys have signed this year will only count 11 million against the cap this year.

I don't see where you come up with 10 mil/yr just for Carr though?

After that point, it's two additional years at 8.5 mil, which is more reasonable.

Money is frontloaded because that's the only way he'd sign.

CRedskinsRule 03-17-2012 12:54 PM

In 2013 his base salary is 14mil per ESPN Dallas. That's an overpay but had to be done in order to get him. And they will certainly restructure it next year

Edit wrong year

I made that assumption the day he signed, and didn't care to look up the actual structure of his deal when the contract details were released (I'm not a Dallas fan)... but since you've analyzed, disected, and vividly explained Carr's his contract, it's a more reasonable signing, but I'd also add another CB to replace M. Jenkins

The market for OTs was weak to begin with, but it's been really slow to develop. The Redskins can get a guy pretty easily and fit him into their cap situation.

Guards have gone a lot hotter, for whatever reason. Probably smart to sit that one out.
