Royal and Ginn Jr had the same amount of receptions; but Ginn was able to gain close to 12 yds per catch, and was also a better Punt Returner:
[B](38 Returns, 466 yds, 12.3 average, 1 TD, [B]9[/B] 20+ yrd returns, and 3 returns over 40 yds.)[/B] Compared to Royal's [B](12 Ret, 194 yds, 16.2, 1TD, only 20+ yrd returns and just 1 return over 40.)[/B]

2011 KR's

Ginn: 29 Ret, 800 yds, [B]27.6 avg[/B], 102T, 1 TD

Royal : 3 Returns, 47 yds, 15.7 avg, [B]longest return just 20 yds[/B], 0 TD's


[B]Conclusion:[/B] Though Shanahan may like Royal because he was a Shanahan pick, Royal is inconsistent, and not the "best" "return, slot specialist" people are making him out to be. Compared to Royal, Ginn has been statistically better in almost every WR and return category, and what stood out about Ginn was his KR avg of 27.5 yds in 2011, where kicks moved up 5 yds, equating to more touchbacks. If we should sign another WR, it should be Ginn [B]not [/B]Royal.

Fact is royal still had 91 catches for 980 yards as a rookie for Shanny. ginn has ever come close to that

Yes, but neither has Royal since 2008... Not saying he's a bad player because he did have that 1 great '08 rookie year, but IMO he's not a better return specialist, and he's not the playmaker Ginn is after he catches the ball... Who's to say Ginn wouldn't have the same or better production than Royal? You could also say Shanahan's scheme/system is why Royal had that great rookie yr.

To be fair to Royal, he has had Tebow throwing him the ball the last 2 years. I would prefer him to Ginn, who is just a returner to me.

And with the Redskins he'd be competing against Garcon, Morgan, Gaffney, Moss, Stallworth, Hankerson, N.Paul, Armstrong, .. Of course, he'd be closer to the top half of this list.

Does anyone know how we're doing this within the cap?? Just seems so mysterious we can get these deals done. Always wonder whether in addition to the cap money, the Redskin players get free access to Snyder's jet, dates with the cheerleaders... We're supposed to be running out of money, but are thinking about Grubbs, an LG, still need an RT, MLB/Fletcher, safety if Landry leaves, ?cornerback -- how do we do all this with negative cap money.. If Royal signs w/ SD I wouldn't care... Ted Ginn IMO is better WR, returner, and option player... Ginn, Garcon, Morgan, Hank, would be just as good if not better than if Royal came here
