Re: 2013 Free Agents
I think in the end, its gonna be much much more interesting how we handle the Tight End position than the WRs group. Questions abound there...Fred Davis and Pauleson both FA and Niles Paul...does he even have a position at this point? Wouldnt surprise me if we add someone new. Didnt SS make a point of saying we talked to several TE at the senior bowl?

Re: 2013 Free Agents
As to the WR spot, if someone amazing falls to the 2nd round ... fine, but he would have to be head and shoulders above any DB's or RT's we could get at the spot.

I'm with you with the exception of kickin the tires on Jonny Knox, bears just released him. Wouldn't hurt to see if he still has the speed, I've always liked that guy. USA TODAY |

Re: 2013 Free Agents
He would be a great guy if you can give a "league minimum" one year prove it deal. Would be great if he could replace Santana Moss. When the injury happened they said he would make a complete recovery. Looks like they were wrong, but if he is cleared to play and no guarentee's are required then sign him.

Word on the street is we are going to resign AL Haynesworth as a RB. Want to have a bruiser in the backfield like the Chicago used to have with the "Fridge". Something tells me 'ol Al would be more like a port-a-potty than a fridge. |

Mlb Db/safety RG
Well of course you plug holes when you see immediate problems...Safety, Corner, Tackle, but you dont look away from other areas that can be improved...DLine depth, WR depth, RB depth. This is how you end up with Logan Paulesons, Rob Jackson and most important, Alfred Morris. These guys were pivotal in our playoff run. Without these 3 guys, sorry we dont make the playoffs. Were we talking about RB position last offseason as a problem? Nope To me, the Vinny, old thinking FO approach was not only big ticket free agents, but a knee jerk decisions and a lack of planning in every area of the football team. Yes, fix the immediate problems at RT and Safety, but dont lose focus in other areas and just be satisfied with what we got. Dont be surprised at with more young guys at WR, TE and RB. Thats how you improve your team. |
Re: 2013 Free Agents
People in here rolling with WR like they proved something. They haven't proven a thing except for Garçon. If there's a chance to get an Elite talent with RG3 you do it. You don't settle with just role players. We're not going win like that. I don't care about this past year stats. If you don't get better you get worst. Can anyone on this team other than RG3 that really pumps fear into the defense? Harvin does that. We would make everybody on offense job easier. So if we could get him for a 3rd and 5th we better do it.

It certainly isnt our priority. I agree whole heartedly there is always room for improvement everywhere, and i certainly dont think our wr's are tops in the league. Although getting Davis back is huge. We should draft for more glaring needs early though. |

Re: 2013 Free Agents
Again, outside of QB & RB and maybe OLB (depending on how the R.Jackson issue resolves), if there is a top talent in the 2nd round that BA & MS have rated head and shoulders above everyone else, I would hope they take him.
Unless someone stands out, however, you take the best athelete available in your area of need with your 2nd and 3rd and then straight up BAA the rest of the way down. |

Ok so I understand what your saying, but that right there is the patriots philosophy; make our already good offense, great or unstoppable but don't worry about our defense which is the real team problem. I said last year that our offense was Super Bowl caliber. It was our defense which wasn't. Lets worry about defense before we get to the WR position which is at the bottom of my list of needs. And Harvin is an injury prone head case who wants lots of money which we don't have. |

The Pats traded for Talib b/c they've misfired with just about every single secondary player they've picked in the draft. Of course that doesn't affect them significantly b/c they can outscore teams with their potent offense. |

And their defense still is on the bad side aka not top 16/half of the league. They're getting guys but not game changers like what they have on offense. Talib is one and Jones could be one healthy. But they still struggle on defense Bill. |

But no matter who you get in FA you should still draft your needs even the ones you had before FA. Why? Take tanard Jackson for example. We need a FS, we sign him. We don't draft a FS in the draft (we also signed Madoodoo Williams to play either safety spot) tanard gets suspended and Williams is stuck at FS and we suck at that position all year. I could also use the archuletta example too but you all already know about that. |

If the Redskins draft a free safety, then it will more than likely be Phillip Thomas from Fresno State. I think the Redskins will keep Madieu Williams for depth. Tanard Jackson is questionable after serving a year suspension(we could have really used him last season). Brandon Meriweather hopefully will get healthy and perform like he did in the first Philly game. |

Plus what position is not in need? What position can the skins not improve on besides maybe QB? Redskins "needs" are DLine, Olinemen, linebackers, corners, safeties, tight end, and wide receiver. The skins can improve on all these positions. Luckily they have been drafting based on who the best player and not which player fills the biggest need recently and its been working out great, Alfred Morris, Leribeus, Cousins, Crawford, even Kerrigan to name a few. |

Yeah but their way of addressing needs is stupidity, like forgetting about background checks on players for example. Take Dennard and Talib for example. Both are headcases off the field. Talib is injury prone. What happend? Their good for them, but now Dennard is looking at 5 years in prison for punching a cop, and Talib missed almost as many games as he played in NE with hip and hamstring problems. In the draft Belichick took tavon wilson in the 2nd round, a guy whom all the other scouts and analysts had as a 6-7th rounder. When they address need, its been a miss for them defensively. Offensively it hasn't. |

No one now is claiming he should have gone in the 6th or 7th. He still has flaws, mainly struggling with play action and getting deep off of it, but played decent for them this year. He still has plenty of upside to continue to progress, and has the ability to play almost every secondary position. It might be comparing apples to oranges since they play different positions. But do you want Bobbie Massie in the first, as analysts had him for the draft, or Tavon Wilson in the second? Massie was terrible this year, and had trouble getting a starting job in Arizona with their horrible O-line. Listening to draft analysts is about as good at times as listening to Vinny act like he understands the draft. |

And Massie or wilson? Neither, cause they are both busts IMO.
There was an analyst one time that said the same thing about Tom Brady, he should have been drafted late or not at all. Had anyone picked up Brady in round 2, they would have been criticized beyond belief. But it still would have been a good move to do so. My point being, you are basing the move not based on Tavon Wilson's play, but what the draft analysts said prior to him ever playing a down in the NFL. The same ones who said Tom Brady doesnt deserve to be in the NFL. He actually played fairly well this year for a rookie on a defense that wasnt that good altogether, and is a highly versatile player to boot. Im not saying he is the next Ronnie Lott, but he outplayed our entire secondary when he was on the field. |
