Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
I haven't seen too much love for Jordan Poyer on here. He'll probably be available late in the second round.
He's a ball hawking, big hitting CB with return skills. I think he's gonna be a difference maker at this level. From what I've seen, he makes big plays and creates for his teammates. I think he'd be a nice addition to our secondary and return game. Thoughts? Jordan Poyer Highlights, 2009-11 - YouTube |

If so, he wont be there when we pick. Im surprised more arent looking at Cooper Taylor - SS out of Richmond or BW Webb - CB out of William and Mary. Both are raw but most people believe that they have high ceilings. Will take some development on both, but looks like most have Webb as a 4th or 5th, and Cooper seems to be rated as a 7th to UDFA although I have seen a couple predicting he could go higher. Biggest knock on both is that they dont have elite speed (BW Webb is around 4.5 and Cooper is around 4.6 for their 40 times) but most talk about their instinct and feel for the game being very good. Imo, having a feel for the game means more than being fast but clueless. |

If it were to happen, I think we may solve our DB problems for years to come. From what I've read, I think it might be necessary to take Poyer in the 2nd and hope to get Thomas in the third. I love both of those players. Mathieu in the 4th could happen. We all know that he brings some risk with him but to get that kind of playmaker in the 4th would be a coup, IMO. He could be an outstanding third corner playing in the middle. Barner is the type of explosive player we need for our offense. The 5th Round for him seems reasonable. I also like Swearinger but I wonder if he'll last until the 5th round. Nixon in the 6th and Geathers in the 7th might not be possible but they are just the type of players to go for in those slots. Go big or go home! Nice draft. Now, please make it happen. |

A CB to play CB. We don't have the money or picks to just go out and drop a high pick on a player who plays CB and move him to safety. We can take a risk on tyrann mathieu. That's a different kind of risk. |

And of course Returner, even though Crawford had good returns toward the end of the year he is not Mathieu. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
So the name Phillip Thomas (whom I'm a fan of) popped up on twitter today from one of the redskin talking heads
HTTR24-7.com @HTTR24_7 @SonofWashington @JacksonSports Good kid but slow, stiff, bad in run support and not really a lot of interest. I agree with the stiff part and slow? Eh maybe. But the fact that were not that interested is..interesting. I say that because we met with him at the senior bowl and I remember someone else--maybe it was that guy whose name start with a smoot--said that we met with him again at the combine. That sounds like an interested team to me. Who to believe? And do we really want another Strong Safety? Or go for the FS's only. |

Hey I mean I hear ya that he's a great kid and great interview, and I hope he is still a great safety in the pros like he was in college, but to your "he's a good kid" comment. Well, so is Tim tebow. See where I'm going here? Just because they're really nice and or really cool doesn't mean they can play at the next level. |

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
We're finally a build-through-the-draft team and we just draft for need? BPA every time with ties going to the big bodies.
I'm telling you we should draft a lot of front seven and OL. Football is won in the trenches. |

I'm telling you we should draft a lot of front seven and OL. Football is won in the trenches.
Very true. But honestly I think that our OL is in great shape minus RT. our DL could use more depth. But we have practically no safeties and secondary so that becomes a need over the trenches for now. But yeah just look back to Ozzie newsome saying that when he signed Marcus spears saying that depth on your DL is key to success. |

I have never seen him play , however what I have read is that he got hurt making a tackle , and did some damage to his heart . Had he not gotten injured he would have been talked about more .
