That being said I find it unsettling a talented player getting cut in a non-contract year?
Well lets get one thing straight. This signing would come with plenty of risk. From tying up cap space to one day finding yourself caught by surprise the same way the Falcons were when Vick got arrested for running an illegal gambling operation. It's very possible the gang ties are blown completely out of proportion if not in fact completely non-existent. However the fact remains that the bell has been rung so at the very least it will be something to watch out for down the line. Then of course there are the complaints from Eagle fans about tardiness, lack of effort, blah blah blah. Though I'm fine to put it under sour grapes many of us, myself included, ignored similar complaints from Philly fans about McNabb. Now with that said I want Desean to play for the Skins. I've seen the kind of impact Jones and White have had with Ryan in Atlanta and I can only imagine that the same type of supporting cast would only be beneficial to RG3's development. Also as much as I would love to see upgrades all across the line save for LT the fact remains that this line is nearly as bad as it has been in years past when it was virtually neglected. For starters they are among the best in the league when it comes to run blocking, at least when we're running zone. Also from what I understand Gruden's system is designed to get the ball out quick and limit hits to the QB so at the very least that should go a long way towards fixing the pass protection problems. After all if Shanhan's running game can make running backs look better then they really are whats to stop a playbook employing numerous 3 step drops to improve pass protection? Of course all of this speculation until we see the actual on field product. |
Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday
I say this is going to go beyond 24 hrs. Apparently both parties want to make a deal, but it's clear both are playing the market. DJax wants to see the market, BA is happy to let him do it so if he signs it's not a Vinny contract. He probably schedules visits with Oakland and Buffalo in the next few days. Honestly, if we sign him, I'd prefer we sign him after those visits b/c he didn't like their offers. Probably not going to happen but would be the best scenario for the Skins. Means his asking price is too high.

Totally agree...sometimes you have to pay for a guy and take a chance. If they sign him I see it as our 1st round pick this year, it's only a game and Synders money so who cares. They will never break all the fan criticism until we win a SB again, people complain that we didn't go after any big names in FA and now people complain. Only thing to cure it is to win. |

I want djax here, but saying it's our 1st round pick is a little misleading. The cap hit from a first round pick gives you a top player with 4 years of cap bliss. There's no guarantee of 2 years cap bliss with djax. |

So here are the top 16-17 WR contracts. Only Tampa Bay, Lions currently have two WR on this list. It's interesting to note that of the top 4 teams last year in the playoffs: Percy Harvin had a large contract for the Seahawks, but really only played a small portion of the year. For the Broncos, the highest paid WR is Wes Welker at 20th. The 49ers and Patriot don't have a WR in the the top 20 priced contracs. Point is the best teams don't seem to invest/need high priced WRs.. |
I'm guessing part of it is he doesn't want to risk being in the same spot a couple years from now. A more generous signing bonus and years as has been suggested would require any team signing him to jump through more hoops should they have a change in heart.
No Dirt, not true. This is one reason why I have beaten the drum against DJax. Philly wanted him gone so bad, they were willing to absorb immediately a dead cap hit of $6 mil. Besides, in two years a DJax deadcap hit of $6 mil. could be ours, too, if we sign him. |

Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday
Alright well I understand this from an argument perspective, and yes there may be something more to tell from this, but it still a terrible thing to have playmakers. Teams have to score, and honestly if we get 2012 IIi back again we will again score. I think if we can pull this off to go along with Garçon and the gang we will be great there this year and possibly prolific next.
If we can add a RT and FS starter in this years draft plus a true nt I would be very happy going into next year. 2 years ago people wondered how good that team could have been in the playoffs sans rg III's knee. We weren't that far from making a run in 2012 until the end of the 1sr quarter against Seatle. I am not ready to concede that we can no longer compete for the East, and in the playoffs anything can happen. |

Not contact wise, but it would all but take WR off the board in the 2nd round and fill a so called need. I don't look at money when it comes to players. |
