Might be because he's not 100% yet, heck one throw to him by RG3 sailed over his head and you could tell he didn't have the gas in the tank, he needs a little more time to get healthy.
As for Gruden: Gruden is the kind of guy who likes to pass the buck, nothing is ever his fault, it's always someone else who isn't performing.
He can't get away with that for very long. If he doesn't win next year he'll be gone no matter how many people he blames. |
Re: The everything Gruden thread
This is incredible...I'm starting to question Gruden's intelligence and sanity...

What else is he going to say? Classic coach speak.

Respectfully...I disagree...he could have used the old line... "Well that is not my decision, that's up to the team management" Or something like that. |

Re: The everything Gruden thread
So both DJax and Garcon are extremely POed about lack of a good QB here?
|
Re: The everything Gruden thread
Additionally, I have yet to hear any interview with JG that he does not state matter of factly, that he and his tribe need to do a better job coaching, etc. He shoulders a share of the blame at each.....juncture

They should implement mandatory film study. I think it's a big problem for this team in general.
So both DJax and Garcon are extremely POed about lack of a good QB here?
I wouldn't blame them but I haven't seen too much via DJax complaining. In fact his numbers aren't too bad. 1100+ yards... 6 TDs. Not as good as last year's but not bad at all. He was definitely making something out of nothing. I know Garcon's numbers took a huge dive from last year so he can't be too happy about that. We all know how antsy DJax can get so I recommend us getting a functional QB before his contract is over. He'll leave and will make no qualms about letting us know what's really going on behind closed doors at Redskins Park. |

Griffin targeted one pass against the Dallas defense more than 10 yards. Wouldn't you be? |
Griffin targeted one pass against the Dallas defense more than 10 yards.
Wouldn't you be?
Well DJax did get over 1000 yards. That's a damn good season no matter how you slice it. Garcon I get though, there were times I'd forget he was even out there... He had 105 targets this season, which averages out to about 6 per game (even though I think that's a generous number). Way down from his 11 per game average last season. DJax... Only had 94. TOTAL. And still put up over 1000+ yards. Looking at other NFC East duos Maclin - 143 targets Matthews - 105 ODB - 132 Randal - 127 Dez - 138 Witten (highest targets besides Dez) - 90 Looking at the targets, you'd think Garcon was the #1 but put up nowhere near the same amount of yards as say.. Jordan Matthews... Garcon (752 yards 3 TDs) Matthews (872 yards 8 TDs). So long story short... Yeah... Kinda feeling for ol Pierre. |

He puts 100% effort into pass plays and run plays. Blocks like a boss. I hope we can keep him, but the reality of the cap and his contract will hit hard this off season I'm afraid. |

His base salary next year is 7.1 mil with a cap hit of 9.7 mil. We are going into the off season with considerably less cap room than we expected and compared to most other teams. There are so many other units that need significant upgrades. As alluded to by other posters, he might not want to come back given the uncertainty of the QB situation. I hope he stays. I'm a huge fan. I would be very disappointed if he wasn't a Redskin next year but not surprised. |

while the injuries and bad roster aren't haslett's fault, his track record is. I'm a bit shocked he's still here.

You are right on target. His track record speaks for itself and it says "mediocre". The Skins can do much better and they should. If the Skins want to win, they need to put together the best coaching staff they can. |
Re: The everything Gruden thread
Sometimes you need to make a change. He has been here a long time, and it doesn't have to do with whether or not he is a good coach. They need to hear it from a new voice, because they aren't getting it from the current defensive guys.

I don't care what position a player holds, or a FO person, if they are a part of the media drama, cya. For me that's true of every player on this roster save none. Trent Williams doing it, cya. RG3, or family, doing it, cya, Kirk Cousins, cya. Bruce Allen's secretary, cya. Maybe I would keep Kerrigan or Breeland even if it were found out it's them. But maybe not. The media storm around this team, albeit created by Dan Snyder early in his ownership, is a detrimental factor for every player and coach that comes here. It needs to stop. |

Re: The everything Gruden thread
A lot of tough and good questions were asked and his answer was they will evaluate and in a month the changes will be made and in place. After people complained that Gruden was to honest, what do you expect Allen to say? They do need time to figure out the changes that are needed, he started today with Haslett. Why don't wait and see what happens?
