If he wins a SB like Foles I think we'd all take that.

All I know is TH is trending in the right direction, he's improving the more he plays. I don't think he changes the need for a long term solution here, but at the worst he gives us flexibility in the short term.
We'd definitely take that but Foles was put in a great situation with a great team. TH isn't in that situation.
How do you measure weak arm .. seriously do they have long ball contest , fastest throw etc .. I know TH has a flaw that a lot of QB’s have , they throw off there back foot .. but in the heat of the play maybe that’s all they can do .. so what’s he gonna do tell the coach I took the sack because I couldn’t step into it .. Some of the best Teams have short to medium pass game that relies on timing backed by a solid run game ..
At the combine they can measure things like velocity/spin rate on the ball.

Mostly it's just an eye ball test. Not hard to see the ball doesn't exactly jump off his hand vs someone like Josh Allen let's say.

It's not hard at all to see, you really don't even need A22.. He floats the ball more than anyone else. it's not a knock on the guy but the truth is the truth.. He's also not very accurate which is the bigger concern..

I honestly don't know why this continues to be a discussion with some fans. He doesn't have an ideal NFL arm. Like you said it's not a knock, it's just the truth. He can obviously still play at this level, but at times his lack of arm strength is an issue for him on certain throws.

One guarantee is that he will give it his all, every cell in his body goes 110%.

It may sound cheesy but heart wins you that extra final inch and that one inch is the difference between winning and losing.

Im getting pumped up. I love sports.

Having Logan and Curtis back was big, even with them being limited. I'm pretty excited to see them getting more involved as they get healthier.

TH is growing every week and I don't think it's a coincidence that we have seen a big difference in him at about the same time the defense started to play better.

It took half the season to get there, but what we have seen these past few weeks I think is what my expectations were entering the season: defense keeping them in games, and an offense grinding it out - putting up enough points to win most games.

Defense and a running game are always a QB's best friends.

Heinicke is going to make it difficult for the coaches to figure out what to do in the offseason if he keeps it up throughout remaining of the season.

Exactly. As long as WFT keeps playing good D and running the ball TH's short and medium passing will work and the team can make a run. TH's cant pass deep so there's no way WFT can be a big pass play offense.

They have to draft a QB. The question is when.

And I don’t see RR refraining from pursuing a QB out of sentimentality. Ask Ryan Kerrigan about that. RR is no Bellichick, who seems to delight in discarding his veteran players, but he wants to win, period.

Yeah this is the Skins football we expected when the season began. Lean on the D and the O grinds out 1st downs. We just need that occassional splash play and this is about as well as we can execute. Had a big chunk play on that 4th and 1 that got called back.

Heinike was making a lot of throws near the LOS (as designed and asked of him) but that 4th and 9 throw to Deandre Carter was so clutch.

Stat wise Heinike had a pedestrian game but he balled out, stats can be deceiving. Wilson was trash but had a good box score.

Stats are so stupid. Russ had a great rating and couldn’t even move the ball. Nobody in the world who watched that game would say Russ was the better quarterback.

Russell Wilson looked turrible.

Did he really come back after 4 weeks on a 8 week injury? Sure looks like it

---------------------------------

Pretty cool to hear that only 1 nfl scout showed up to Heinike's ODU pro day ... and it was scott turner. I think i heard that before but it was nice to hear.

This draft? No earlier than the 4th round. They really don't have to draft a QB - they do need to find a viable back-up though and that can be either the draft or a veteran. (I hear Fitzpatrick may be available).

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

Talk of Jimmy G being traded to clear starting position for Lance. Not unexpected/a big secret.

Should we be considered a possible landing spot, give the weak draft? Personally I don't see him as a big enough upgrade over TH to be worth pursuing for the cost. Certainly wouldn't give up a #1 for him.

WFT has their back-up in TH, they need a legit starter. I'd love to see them make a run at Russell Wilson. He'd do great in this system.

Like was said earlier, either TH needs to be hypnotized into believing every situation is down by 6 with 2 minutes to go, OR, he needs to play a higher level in the 3rd quarter especially. I feel like those series after our d was stopping them the whole offenae system TH included went into a we got this. We don't got this until that whistle blows.

If TH had a cannon I wouldn't be sleeping on him, I'd be buying in. But there were plays left on the field Monday because he couldn't put the mustard on it. That's why I say he's a definite keeper as a #2, because he can come in for a downed starter. But he's not a long term answer at #1.

These last 6 games will go a long way in determining that.

I honestly think even if this is the case, you need to find a young guy to develop in a traditional sense. It removes decision to move up to draft a qb in the first round or over pay a veteran in Free agency.

It would be the best outcome to have TH develop enough to lead this team for the next couple years. But his ceiling isn’t high enough to not have a younger plan b. If we like a QB in the 3rd or 4th round…even the late 2nd, you grab him and put that work in to develop him

Chief X_Phackter 12-01-2021 10:54 AM

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

I'm glad we have him right now. There are other QBs that could probably have us in this same position or better, but he is who we have now and he is getting it done, and seems to be getting better.

That being said, like MTK says, these last 6 games will be crucial for him. If he can manage to keep this team in contention, or even better, take this team to a Division title, then he has to be considered for the #1. BUT, that doesn't mean they stop trying to upgrade that position. Just because this team makes the playoffs, or wins the Division (hypothetically), doesn't mean we can't do better.

MTK 12-01-2021 12:28 PM

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

No doubt we should keep looking for a guy to develop. TH may end up buying us some time in this regard, and alleviates the desperation to find someone right away. We appear to be moving from code red to code yellow in the QB dept. If TH finishes strong though I'd really consider locking him up for the next 5 years. As we know the QB price tag only continues to rise with time.
