We fucking suck. Bye Ron. Hello pick No. 2.

Since we're clearly picking a QB, hopefully we can hit on 2 OL in free agency.
Don't forget that the Washington Commanders have Two [emoji3577] Second Round Draft Picks...

So hopefully [emoji1696]the Washington Commanders can get some good Offensive Lineman in the 2nd Round of the Draft

We should win the off-season but it needs to actually translate onto the field

Would he have made it if they hadn't lost 3 yards in the previous 2 stupid plays?

I didn't see it but the realist in me says coach realized the 4th pick gets him Marvin Harrison Jr, making the FG gets him NOT Marvin Harrison Jr.

Painful, yes getting blown out by the Cowboys twice in one season hurts. But long term if they play their cards right and use that 2nd? pick for some good it might just work out.

How about Harrison at #2 then package our 2ds and ? to move up to pick Penix?

noooooo! either QB or LT, no other pick at number two makes any sense. Now maybe LT at 2 and bundle picks to get a lower qb, but ONLY IF the FO is convinced of a QB.

Seriously - I think all of our sacks came from the left side today. They need to get their strategy locked in before FA so they can either grab a tackle/guard or both in FA - if you're going QB with the first pick of course. If they decide LT is the pick and they wanna let Howell/FA retread/2-4th round pick duke it out so be it. One way or another we need at least 1-3 o-line starters in FA.

Well, there are other options to address the OL. Supposed to be a very strong FA class.

As long as we address OL in a major way, than I am good with other thoughts. But we won't know that till March, for now OL and QB need to be a priority, along with a DC that has a clue.

It is? says who? Not what I have heard. Very strong draft class at OL, strong FA class at Edge rusher. FA OL are always over priced due to demand and not many good ones are allowed to hit FA. There are said to be starting quality OTs going to be available in the second round, not Pro Bowlers, so if you go QB in the 1st then one or two OL in the second, or package for trade up, would seem to be the better plan

So don't take the best football player in the draft...?

Honestly, if they take a LT, QB, or Marvin Harrison Jr. I'm going to be happy. Nothing beyond that makes sense - unless they trade out.

IMO I'd rather have Harrison at number 2 than a LT. LT can be addressed in round 2.

I’d be really surprised if they stick with Fields. 3 years and 38 starts is enough to know he was a bust. He had another in a string of bad games to finish the season

probably so, they could think adding harrison then pairing with DJ may boost fields

Didn't you mean AND trade out? If they stuck with Fields (and I doubt they do when they have 1st overall) why would they pick a non-QB with the 1st when they know someone will pay a kings ransom for the #1?

To get a true #1 receiver for their QB in Marvin Harrison, Jr? I wouldn't do that but I would be grateful if they would and give us the first choice of all the QB's in the draft.

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread

I can't see the Bears being sold enough on Fields to pass up on Williams. Fields is decent trade bait too. But yeah, if the Bears think Fields is the man, I guess they could go with Harrison, though I'd say its more likely they'd trade down to maximise value. Trade with us (doubtful we trade out of #2) or Pats (to guarantee their new QB), and they could still get Harrison @ #3 plus have more picks to spare. They are after all missing the 2nd round pick they gave us.

To me, this is simple:

Either Maye or Williams (in that order).

No trade-downs, no nonsense. Get one or the other. Don't over-think it.

Edit: I would also not take Penix anywhere in the first round. Massive injury concerns, particularly the shoulder.

This is a criticism I’ve heard a couple times:

Caleb] does way too much at times where he won’t cut his losses and you’re thinking, ‘get rid of the f***ing ball

Hear holding onto the ball too long was a problem for someone else

2. Drake Maye - QB - North Carolina
36. Jordan Morgan - OT - Arizona
40. Cooper Beebe - OG - Kansas State
67. Bralen Trice - EDGE - Washington
96. Jackson Powers-Johnson - OC - Oregon
98. T.J. Tampa - CB - Iowa State
132. Junior Colson - LB - Michigan
163. Dallin Holker - TE - Colorado State
194. Jay Stanley - S - Southern Miss

I'm leaning towards Maye. Just like the idea of a pocket QB who can process quickly and get the ball out. It's also nice that he's 6'4". The NFL is all about the quick game more than ever.

Excellent mock draft, a Franchise QB and three big, tough OL to help protect him.

I will gladly take Maye or Daniels. I'll probably go back and forth 10 times between now and 4/25/2024 on who I like more. But I'll trust the new front-office with either guy they pick.

They are very different QBs. I'm not sure that if the new regime likes Caleb, they'll settle for Drake, and vice versa.

Maybe...

Whatever this is that allows Sean McVay and co. to ID guys like Puca Nakua - I want that. They ID'd exactly what they wanted and now a 5th round pick broke a record that was established in 1935. That is why McVay and co. are elite - they weren't even expected to contend this year. Same thing with Mike Tomlin - he made the playoffs despite Kenny Pickett playing like ass much of the year. We want a staff and a FO that can overachieve and get the absolute best out of players.
